I don't see this making much of a difference where I am (Samutprakarn).

As we are in an industrial area, locals were wearing masks long before Covid.

Also, wearing a mask here seems to be seen as a sign of respect to everyone around you.

I can go years (literally) without seeing another westerner in this area, so there will be no outside influences.

I think that it is obvious that masks will be ditched (in the main) in tourist areas but it will be interesting to see how this goes down here.

It will also be interesting to see how Bangkok reacts, with a mix of tourists and full time residents.

I will probably carry on wearing a mask when in the company of other mask wearers, just to be polite.

Why can't the editors of English language news outlets at least get his name right, or the transliteration thereof? Both the ศ in his given name and the ษ in his family name become 't', as per Thai language rules, as they are both final consonants of final syllables, and the ว is mute.

    Thank you.

"If your TV fits withing the dimensions and weight for the route being travelled, you may carry an LED/LCD TV as part of your checked-in luggage. For items which fit the specified maximum size, but exceed the standard free baggage allowance mentioned on the ticket, normal excess baggage charges will be applied."

So as I said it depends on the Airline etc. As for the duty payable, thats what the Op was enquiring about and based on the information provided......

    Duty & Tax Charges

    Duty: 2001.2 THB (Rate of 20 %)

    VAT: 840.51 THB (Rate of 7 %)

    Total: 2841.71 THB

I know it can be shipped, but why take the chance of it being totalled?

Plus you would need to include insurance to those figures! Just in case it gets damaged ✈????

Wouldn't you also say that that decision would be up to the OP? Checked luggage frequently contains well-protected, fragile items.

I made a specific comparison between the items, nothing to do with decisions,or the fact that it is pot luck regarding the handling of items, fragile,or not! As can be evidenced by video's that have been posted in the public domain.

That would depend on the Airline, I would have thought.

Bicycles are accpeted, Skiis are accepted, all considerably bigger than 55 inches.

I would say there is a tad difference between taking in Sports Equipment, and a Tv with an easily breakable screen and sensitive electronic partsl!

Also in the amount of Customs Duty payable on arrival! ????

well, I once had an accident on the last day of my insurance validity and received treatment in a hospital on that day as well as days later while my insurance was expired.... and yes, this accident and its cost were covered as it happend during existing insurance cover.

Of course you would be covered, the accident happened within the insured period! Not outwith!

I can't believe that you're so "bemused" that you didn't read his OP,  not to mention so arrogant and insulting with the "witch doctor reference. He posted that he's bringing it back, not couriering it here.

    Are u for real?

Do you really think he is going to bring/take a 55" Tv on a plane, train, boat,or whatever means of Transport he chooses to travel over 7000 kilometres from Kenya? ????????????

Anyone who has lived in Scotland has noticed it, heard of ABE? world cup support anyone but England. Wimbledon English support Andy Murray, Scots wouldn't support Tim Henman, might as well just accept it, not everyone but there is an undercurrent

I have'nt noticed it in Scotland, then again i don't associate with bigots that think like that,I support all British National teams... as long as their not playing Scotland!

Bangkok bank really has a different username and password for the online banking, I think you just forgot about creating it after opening an account. The password is not equal to the PIN.

You really should visit a bank branch to have this sorted out, maybe to change the username and password. Do not forget to take the bank book with you.

    And your passport.
