  1. I discovered a lump on the back of my neck over a year ago. Wanting to get it checked out, I went to Lanna Hospital because that is where I am registered for my social insurance. There was no specialist in but I got to talk to a GP who, without even touching the lump, suggested it was follicleitis (sp?) and gave me a bag of antibiotics and told me to come back if things did not improve.

Some quick consulting of medical reference books and websites showed his guess to be unlikely at best, but all the same I went ahead with the regime which, surprise surprise, did not improve anything.

I didn't go back to Lanna because I had lost faith in their ability to judge my condition. Instead, I checked the lump regularly myself and it stayed large but did not seem to grow; at any rate I did not notice any growth over time.

    Fast forward one year:

Yesterday I happened to be in the neighbourhood of CM RAM and so decided to popin and ask them to take a look.

Was sent to the ENT section (?) and the doctor did a manual inspection and said it is most likely a benign tumour consisting of fat cells, aka a lipoma. This was at least consistent with the information I had found myself, so found myself more inclined to believe this doctor.

He said he recommended I have it surgically removed and that he would do it himself. I asked him whether the surgery would be complicated and he assured me it would be easy, and to call back when convenient in order to book an appointment for the operation.

Well, I went back to check and it seems that large lipoma of the neck can be very difficult to remove due to them being attached to surrounding muscle and tendon tissue. So that made me wonder whether I really should entrust this doctor with removing a 10 x 6 cm large lump from my neck...

If anybody who reads this has had similar surgery performed on them here in CM I'd like to hear of your experiences. Especially about any surgeons you would recommend.

    My humble thanks in advance.

I have the same... a lipoma in my neck. It's there already for years..and does not grow or hurt.

I went to see my doctor back in Europe and he told me it's quite difficult to remove a lipoma in that area because there is a lot of blood involved.

So he sugested me to just leave it there.

But I agree if you want to have it removed in Thailand you should go to Bunrungrad in Bangkok.

The talk will be in Thai and English. We have a great honor from Khun Dang to be the interpretor.

You idea, comments, suggestions are more than welcome.

Look forward to see your love for Chiang Mai.

If anybody will go there could he/she please mention.. Chiang Mai will be a much more pleasant city without Songtaws and Tuk Tuks..

They make a lot of noise and dirty smoke and are not troubled by any yearly checks...WHY?

Seems to me a more important issue then talking about gardens...

No Songthaews or tuk tuks?? Why not? They offer service to people and are good for chiang mai

Can you imagine the protest that would go on if you tried to get rid of them ???

The descusion with the major is about Chiang Mai making a more pleasant city..

Well the songtwas and tuk tuks do not make it pleasant at all.

Ofcouse there has to be an alternative.. like clean taxi's and a good busline system on alternative fuel's

Even Bangkok is cleaner then the centre of Chiang mai.

I agree that it would help the pollution problem but i think the drivers will protest. Remember protests by the drivers when chiang mai was supposed to get the busline service before? Also the people that use their services depend on the cheap transport. It would be okay if the busline service was as cheap as the songtews and would allow people time to get their groceries on and off. Most people that use them can not afford taxis. I think a better plan would be to enforce the exhaust emission laws they have now. Set up a police task force to check cars on the streets for too high emissions.

Sorry I came up with a complete stupid idea... and ofcourse we could have protest...(scary) but i thought it was all to make Chiang mai more pleasant?

  5. Hi Guys

I rented a house, 9/33 Moo Baan Ing Doi, for one year, I paid a 90,000 bht deposit and 30,000 every month. I had a maid that cleaned the house and used a gardening company that came 3 times a month. Whilst at the property I paid for repairs and any damages. When I left the house was spotless.

I moved house as the landlady wanted us to pay 40,000 bht a month or 30,000 if we would sign a 5 year contract and we would have to pay a 5 year deposit!! I know!! So we simply found a new house.

I was shocked when I went to the bank yesterday to find that the landlady had refunded 52,000 from my 90,000 deposit! I called her and she said that she had to repaint the house, inside and out, repair the garden as the grass was dry and pay an electricity bill, totalling 38,000!!!

Obviously I am angry, I have heard of people not getting their deposits back, and was expecting to loose a few thousand but 38,000!!!

    Any advice greatly appreciated!!!!

    :o

That woman is rich if she has a house for rent for 30.000 baht a month...

In Thailand that means that you know a lot of important people... the more important people you know........the better it is for her!!!

Just accept you will not get your money back.... learn from this... and the next time just do not pay your last month's of rent....

  6. I know in order to get an avffidavit of residence you must have an year visa....

So no multiple year visa.. but a real year visa.. that's easy to get when you are over 50, but I am not so it's out of the question for me.

then there is an other way.. to get it.. if you have an yellow book.. but you only get a yellow book when you are registred in you house.. and you can only do that when you have a year visa, wich i can't get.

"Then i could go to the ambassy to get it.. but they won't give it either because I am also still registred in my home country.

So can anybody help how to get it? I just want a @[email protected] drivinglicense!!!
