I am sick of the farangs whose hatred of Thaksin stems from nothing more than them having to pay a few more satang for their visas

Thats a bit simple. I agree some farangs base there hatred of Mr. Thaksin because of raised visa fees or bar time closings. Many other farangs thou hate Mr. Thaksin for other reasons, civil rights, abuse of power, corruption, arrogance ETC.

It is much more than just a visa price thing for most farangs.

Agree, just more angry mail farang talk. Why take a shot at the wife? This guy sounds like he had it made and he blew it by showing off. He did the crime got away with it, was married in rural thai living a nice comfortable life. Like the other poster said, keep a low profile and your set for life. Hope he enjoy he enjoys his German jail cell.

Ironically the more the Thai government tries to curb the sex industry, the more rapes will occur. I don’t get it, this guy could not afford to find a lady? You can’t walk 100 meters without getting hit on there.

Yes I agree. I have often thought that the sex going on between customers and sex workers is also a act of POWER, not sex. If you meet the average farang expat living in Pattaya, he is usually divorced with woman issues. He is usually an older guy who has hostility to western woman and woman from his past. I have often thought that the guy doing the sex thing in Pattaya is on a power trip not a sex trip. The act is very similiar to rape, its not about the sex its about the power over woman, gives vent to their anger. So in a sense its kind of like paid/bought rape.

hmm..well thats rather Neanderthal like thinking. Kill the killer, Castrate the Raper, it is all simplistic thinking. The reasons for the crimes are much deeper than simple answers. The revenge justice thing simply does not work. If you cut off the hand of thieves does it stop others from stealing? If you kill a killer does it stop others from killing? Of course not.

Also it is kind of ironic that the rape took place in Pattaya a place where rape(economics related) goes on nightly, the thai women working the scene are raped/used/bought thousands of times over and over, who cries for them? I know lets castrate all the customers also, that will solve the problems related to the exploitation of woman working the sex industry.

I do not want to minimize the British ladies suffering, but lets put things into perpective. 1 British woman is raped and the world cries a thousand tears. Lets not put more value on a persons suffering because they come from a wealthy country.

Its quite obvious that the Thai government used exessive force. Look at the numbers 5 dead on one side 107 dead on the other....now think about that...who was armed with machine guns and who was not? ....they did the same thing they did a few years ago with the burmese bandits/freedom fighters(whatever you want to call them) who took hostages in the embassy...the kidnappers were tied up and then shot at close range in the back of the head. The Thais do not fool around in situations like this. There is no doubt though they did use exessive force. Problem is that just leads to a new group of muslim bandits/terrorists/freedom fighters lining up for the next round. Bush is finding that out in Iraq as well. Killing everyone in site does not solve the problem.

Hmm reading some things on site got me to thinking about the Thai men I met with overseas...Most Thai men I talked to ( I can speak, read and write some thai) told me that they have been with a prostitute at one or more times in there lives.

I was interested in opinions of all the Farang ladies on the board regarding this. I found that many Thai woman put up with that sort of thing as long as it was not any long term deal(only went with the lady one time and was not a mia noi). I also found that many Thai woman new nothing of what was going on until much later, that their men lied to them. So after all that, here is a question for the female farang board members.

IF YOUR THAI BF/HUSBAND WENT WITH A PROSTITUTE WHAT WOULD YOU DO? lets say it was a one time thing with a girl that he did not plan to meet again.

question #2...WOULD YOU WANT HIM TO TELL YOU? or would you rather not know?

Yes I agree on this point, many of the guys I talked to especially in the bar areas were divorced and bitter. They said all the same things you mentioned..western woman are:

ANGRY

CONTROLLING

UGLY

FAT

OLD

TO BOSSY

MONEY HUNGRY

etc etc

I think that alot of the bitterness was related to problems they had in there past lives and that they then put all farang woman into the same category often forgeting to look at themselves.

I was just surprised that I saw so many farang men in non bar areas, guys who owned businesses were retired etc who had ONLY Thai wives and gfs and told me they wanted nothing to do with farang woman.

I just recently returned from 1 year in Thailand...where I met alot of very hostile farang males. They became hostile when the subject of farang woman was brought up.

I was interested in farang womans views regarding why the farang men are so hostile to them...I already got the thai/expat/farang male view on why they did not like farang woman....now I would like to understand the views of some farang woman regarding WHY FARANG MEN (most long term expat types)IN THAILAND OFTEN DO NOT LIKE FARANG WOMAN AND ENJOY TO BE WITH THAI WOMAN BETTER.
