I realise I'm prob too late Dan but this place not far from me (Chong Phli near Ao Nang) just has to be the best choice.

I know Jeff to be one of the most decent, honest & fair blokes out there. He's been going for many years already, has a v good reputation with around 50 rental bikes, all taxed/insured & fully serviced in great condition at very good prices...(I really don't think there are any better or cheaper).

I know he also offers a delivery & pick-up service but not sure if that includes the bus station...Def worth a call tho. Cheers, Ray.

Sorry to disagree but this whole point is so wrong as a clone is defined as an exact copy, which these scoots are definitely not..In fact even a quick glance at both shows many differences so my questions still stand.

I've owned a 150 PCX for around 9 yrs & although it's proved extremely reliable I have been a bit disappointed with a number of issues including poor quality.  Have casually been looking into replacement 'contenders' (within my criteria) for some time which include Yamaha & the Honda adv 150 or 160 as I really like the look of them, but is it just me or are these scoots vastly overpriced & 'underspeced' ?  One particular brand does stand out to me however in the looks & specification dep't, never heard of them before but I reckon I would seriously consider the Fekon FKM Venture 150 (as it ticks all the boxes & more) IF it was available here in Thailand...Any thoughts? I'd particularly be interested to hear from folk 'in the know' regarding build & component quality as I have zero experience in this field.

One final point...Please know that I sincerely believe the Thai medical personnel involved did & are doing a great job indeed & am not criticizing them at all, but I do blame management for not doing their jobs properly, especially those 'responsible' for planning and communication.

I've had both my Phizer jabs now and was dismayed (not surprised) that we were all 'herded like sheep' at Krabi hospital..(seemed to me they had lost the plot why it was necessary in the first place :-) ) Following the 2nd dose they told me 'can't print' so will send me my certificate by email...Never received :-)  I checked my online app, no success...Then I received a message that I had an appointment in Phuket for the 1st jab (??).  I did all the correct things & tried all the links etc. specified, especially the one where they say to contact if any details wrong (They had shaved a month off my birth date along the way :-)....Still nothing until a very kind lady (a Doctor or Nurse?) at Krabi hospital who speaks good English, helped by forwarding my Line messages to someone (?) after which I received  my certificate as an attachment...Unsigned with missing details on it & still wrong birth date :-)....So I bit the bullet & went in person to the Ministry of Health office again (something I'd been dreading as the young chap that first took my original details never bothered with a face mask!).  While there I applied for the yellow Inter'l certificate (50 bt) & was told they will call me to collect it in a week (can not do online :-) ) ...Nothing.... so I returned a few weeks later to collect.  Lots more to this story but thats just a summary.  I'm curious if any others out there had similar experiences?  Regards, Ray.

I've only just remembered this forum after reading (& having a good laugh) at the story of the Thai Health Minister being refused entry into Switzerland due to sinovac not being recognised.  I'd forgotten my reply to Kanada (above) so while I'm here thought it a good time for a quick update....

No trouble registering and no trouble with getting an appt. after registration as a few seemed to have!

I have to agree with you Kanada, although I had to take my time typing as some of the wording was a bit 'ambiguous' plus I had the same issue as all the others when it came to adding the files...Easily overcome tho by holding the Ctrl button down to add them all at the same time (& yes, I included my visa page etc. just in case!)...I was then amazed as my phone beeped with the appointment even before I'd clicked the last 'confirm' button ????

Very well put & I couldn't agree more.  I was in a local hardware store the other day where I asked for some cement board, a worker barked out loudly to me (3 times) "YOU...COME HERE" in an increasingly aggressive manner (he wanted me to follow him to the yard).  I ignored his demands, just smiled & walked out...but not before glancing over to the store owner (who I've known for about 18 years), who was grinning like a Cheshire cat ????.  I would like to add however that I really don't blame the employees as they are so often uneducated & under-paid with little to no job training so have no incentive at all.  The managers / owners on the other hand have no such excuse ????. As you said, Typical, & unlikely to change any time soon.

"Unfortunately disasters occur worldwide due to poor management"...I couldn't agree more to this statement, and certainly didn't mean to imply Thailand is alone on this score. The sad fact is that many countries/business's fail to manage competently for whatever reasons often resulting in costly & tragic loss.

Sorry Crossy but now I'm a bit confused re your sentence 'DC will be fine either way round.'  Yes, I've read that it can be used with an existing doorbell transformer (which I don't have ), isn't the power socket I'll plug the adaptor into AC out & the adaptor then converts the current to DC to power the bell? .  Although it clearly states 'AC' on the doorbell backplate, plus 'M5 (whatever that is) so maybe the bell itself converts the current & not the adaptor?.

Yes Johng, thats just one of the things I origionally questioned but I now gather they convert it from ac to dc. Aint technology grand ????

Yep, I agree Crossy, I've read & learnt a lot today about adaptors & transformers.  I've got lots of tech 'spares' here including many old heavy adaptor transformers that weigh a ton & not safe (imo) to plug in due to the 'loose fit' of the pins.  They certainly have come on a great deal over the years, so I'm going to use the one that came with my TP Link router.

Hi all, I recently bought & fitted a doorbell camera. All seems good & it works better than expected as it's located about 35 mtr's from my front door. My problem is that the rechargeable batteries only last a week & not the 2 or 3 months I was expecting. This is prob because they are only cheapies bought online but I'm now inclined to hardwire the thing to bypass this issue altogether.  My question therefore, is it ok to simply use an old spare plug-in 9v adaptor for the job? (The dooorbell spec states 8/24 v) external power required, or should I buy a purpose made transformer?.  Oh, & pls no smart ars remarks like 'why not google it' etc. as I've serched the web for ages & haven't found a simple answer so far. 

I've just booked a cruise on this with some friends to see the new year in, starts at 5 p.m. includes a stop at one of the local islands for a bbq and live music, fire dancing show etc. then back to somewhere near Ao Nang where we get to watch the celebrations and fireworks at Midnight from the boat all for 1800 baht each (gotta take your own alcaholic drinks tho) Sure beats the busy streets of Ao Nang and Krabi i.m.o. Plenty of tickets left if anyones interested (just call Rin).

This is the big boat I mentioned, quite unique I reckon. I don't know any details or prices but I'm told they will do 1 day trips plus a 2 or 3 day cruise, and sunset cruises. Got to be much better than being cramped up like sardines in one of the regular speedboats here :-)

I've seen a big 3 storey Teak boat in Ao Nam Mao which I believe is owned by the Railay Bay Resort, has 8 bedrooms, bars, lounge etc. looks really good. Im told they plan to do sunset cruises as well as some longer trips later. I chatted with the chap overseeing the conversion work, Rin (speaks good English) his number is 085 473 2028, may be worth checking out.

I've had enough of the idiots who have suggested I don't have balls or am being 'greedy' or am afraid of losing face (why the hell do these ******* make these assumptions based on my OP???) The issue is simply "do you agree with this practice" and clearly the majority do not, for ethical reasons.
