What exactly was wrong/missing with your application? In the end did they accept it? If so, I'd say you're in the clear. I did this last year and I'm about to do it again based on income. I'm not looking forward to it in the slightest.
Number of Thai employees. It was no issue last year. They did accept the application.

No matter whether you are right or wrong, that IO should show some respect and mind her manners when speaking to you, if she showed that attitude to me, I would retaliate in the same manner she showed me.
What I am saying here is not just talk, I have proved that on two occasions so far. Don't be afraid to stick up for yourself, but also, never be abusive to them.
Although a small minority of IOs can have a hostile attitude towards people, I don't think any of them will actually be abusive towards anyone.
It was false politeness she showed. Luckily she was not the one who directly handled our case, but she was walking around in the morning looking at everybody's paperwork.
She uses a shrill and penetrating voice that is just slightly louder than necessary. She does not speak like to her colleagues.

Have you considered the possibility of applying for permanent residency status and/or Thai citizenship in the longer term?
Well, yeah. I have seriously thought about applying for citizenship. My country finally allows dual citizenship. But if they reject my 10th application, I have a snowballs chance for that. I have read about the process for citizenship. They ask any question they want, come and dig into the smallest detail. Getting an extension of stay is a cakewalk compared to that. Besides that, my wife is so angry she is about to go nuclear on them. Told her to chill, but you know. I'm not chill about it this time either.
Like I said, this year is not like before. Oh, your business went down the drain? We don't care. I understand they have to follow orders, but come on. All those tourist people that got stuck because of lockdowns? They got lots of understanding. Us that have been here for a long time and done all they can to be legal? Nah. Go and die.

To answer some of the questions.
Yes, I have used income from work permit for the last 8 years. They have always accepted it in the past.
We never had enough in savings to meet the 400k in bank option. I know that is way easier.
Had to sink all savings into our company to stay afloat and keep the WP active. We are in the events business. So, since early 2020, nothing.

This is a word of warning.
Went to get the yearly extension of stay based on Thai wife yesterday at CW immigration.
Got there at 7.20 AM and left at 4.40 PM. Had all paper work in order, or so we thought. This is the 10th time we had to do this. Their requirements have become even stricter than before.
Due to the current "situation" our economic situation is challenging to say the least. I use my work permit for income. Big mistake.
If any small detail is out of order, expect no mercy. Rules are rules, there will be no consideration. Does not matter how long you have been here or how difficult your situation is.
There is a new sheriff in town. At the risk of being banned, she speaks to you as if you are an animal. Screeches at you to prepare 400k. They are now encroaching on the territory of the Labour Department and Revenue department. They decide what goes.
In four weeks time, I will probably be told I can pack my bags and leave. Go where and how? Who knows. Not their problem. Does not matter if you have built a life here and have invested millions.
Expect no mercy or understanding.

No doubt the 1UZ and stock auto can and will live at 650 even on 95 no problem. Its kinda like the LSx at home, junkyard motor with a single turbo doing 9's all day driving around like nothing. The only thing is the tune-up over here for the 1UZ + Turbo. All the "parts" are here but the problem is the tune.
Evolution of the car here, was doing 10's with some of the most absolute junk parts ever. on3 china turbo as well.

These guys are pretty cool. Car is a brick with plastic hubcaps. 9.68 @ 145
A stock A340 can handle 650hp when drag racing? Are sure. I am not convinced.

How exactly are you doing the tuning?
With VEMS standalone

His 200hp number is too clean as well.
Too clean? What do you mean? An Audi 1.8t AEB with stock K03 turbo running 1.1bar boost does this. I have not dynoed it yet, but based on 55% injector duty cycle of Siemens 630cc injectors (on E85) it is at around 200chp. This is a 20 year car/engine, mind you.
I am an Audi guy and it is what I have to work with. My 96 S6 runs about 260chp, but is much heavier.
Next step is a TD04HL-15G turbo for 240chp+ on the 1.8. Although I would prefer a 19T for 350chp. A bit out of my budget right now.

Once again OP has disappeared... However, should he return: What are you talking about?
This is a fantastic place to be a car guy. You can drive like a nutcase and still not get arrested. Seems to me OP has not looked around enough for what is available.
If you are OK with Japanese cars, mountains of 1/2JZ, RB25, SR20, 1UZ V8, diesel power etc...
If you are going to moan about ridiculously high new car prices, just forget about anything. Would love a Mustang Ecoboost, but for 4 mil? No. Get something 2nd hand and build it yourself!
I used to complain about the very limited choice in old Audis with quattro and turbo engines.
Then I had built the ONLY Audi 80 Quattro manual 1.8 turbo in the country. I tune it myself, I got 200 crank HP, but can easily go to 300chp with a slightly larger turbo. You can do the same for 400-500k all in.
Make do.

And they fail because owners/jungle mechanics put pure water in the engine making the aluminium full of pittings. Or using too thin oil for the climate (or not changing it at all).
That is also true. Not pitting, corrosion.

In Thailand an engine us usually replaced because they're too inept to fix anything properlyHorse manure. The HG on my Audi 5 cylinder was replaced just fine. It depends on the garage if they know what they are doing.

What exactly is wrong with your old engine? Blow a head gasket? Cracked the head? Seized?
The operation will not be big. You buy an engine with trans at Chiang Kong in Bang Na like mentioned before. Its a straight swap. The work might run to 30k, the engine/trans I am not sure. Maybe 50k?
I have seen plenty of the B5234Ts there.
I might be interested in your old turbo.

Looking good.

A ghost?
Funny, I had the same idea.

Our local supplier in the soi has had it all along, but he charges 680 per box. Have not seen it yet at our local Tesco.

I can't find anything clear about if the form is being used at cheang wattana. Is it? Doing my extension of stay next week.
-
Sorry I did not see your reply before.
Yes, you can find VH45s in Chiang Khong Bang Na, but are not as common as the 1UZs. They go for about the same.
IMO, their main advantages over the 1UZ are:
- Coil on plug, no distributors with very specific, expensive and hard to find spark plug wires.
- 4.5L, need I say more?
- Rev to 6900 stock.

They should. However, these lines will run in Bangkok. The pink line will run past my house on Ram Inthra. Traffic is going to be a nightmare for years.Shouldn't they be trying to fix the rail lines that are having so many problems like the airport link? How about improving rail lines inside Bkk to ease the traffic congestion?

Forgot to update.
Went on June 2nd to obtain result. Got another year with no comments made.
So far, so good.
Maybe I was paranoid. We'll see end of this month when I go to renew WP.
