  1. I'll be on Samui between 13th and 20th May and need to continue training, so this thread is very useful. I will stay just south on Lamai beach, so will definitely try the Gov. Stadium and water work areas.

If anyone does any running around Samui and doesn't mind me tagging along, please let me know. Thank you in advance for any help!

  2. thanks for the replies and laughs some of them gave me.

it sounds worth a visit. I don't like Pattaya or Patong beach much, don't get me wrong I like my birds and a few beers but it's just a bit too hectic and too many <deleted> around for more than a few days.

checking out hill tribes etc. sounds pretty good as day excursions, then beers and pool at night.

also, I believe it's possible to fly to Laos from CM, right?

    thanks again

The Lao Air Lines flights to Luang Prabang are here. You fly on to Vientiane from there. Or get the bus, which is a stunning trip.

    thanks for that mate, appreciated.

I'l probably spend 3-4 days in CM then head for L.Prabang by air, or maybe try an adventure down the Mekong towards Viantiene. :o

  3. thanks for that Ray.

so it's better to go on a weekend, guess that can be arranged.

by tearing ones heart out, I take it you mean they are nice kids?

which office by the way? Bear in mind I've never been to Udon Thani before.

    cheers

  5. Plenty to see/do in CM. Nightlife is less manic then BKK, Samui, Phuket, and Pattaya but was very relaxing. I enjoyed the 5days I spent there. :o

thanks Britmaveric, yeah I assumed it was less hectic that those place, sounds good to me for 3-4 days. As long as you can still play pool and drink some beers.

    cheers

  6. I've been to Bangkok, Samui, Phuket etc. before and it's all good, and fancy trying somewhere different for a few days. I'm interested in seeing historical stuff but more interested in playing pool, meeting people, beers etc. Would you say Chiang Mai is more 'off the beaten track' than those aforementioned places? I found there too many backpacking muppets in Bangkok.

also, is there much to do on day tours in the area?

p.s i'm a single 28 year old male, would be travelling alone.

thanks in advance for any advice.

  7. that's great to see.

I plan of doing a tour of the north of Thailand next month including Udon, and would like to spend a day or 2 doing something for these kids. I don't know if that's acceptable for a nobody to show up and get involved for just a day or 2, I can understand that. Anyway let me know if there's anything I could do, even a monetary donation that is guaranteed to end up in the right hands.
