  1. So there's a Bungalow business up for grabs. Unless of course some Thai Lady happened to be the partner and she keeps the lot. At least it should see the Police bothering to visit Phi Phi and make a few enquiries. For example, ' Your husband just got shot. Any chance of the bungalow complex at discount? Oh, and where were you?'

No doubt it'll be yet another death by misadventure. The Police concluding that he ran into 4 stray bullets that happened to be passing at the time. It happens ...................... in Thailand.

If the Police found 22,100 baht then how much did they not find in the wallet?

And their amazingly vigilant response is not to cordon the scene, put up road blocks or gather witness statements, but it is to contact the motorbike rental owner and tell him him the bad news; bike's been crashed mate. Worse still he's dead so has got out of paying the over priced repairs. Falangs eh? And worse still the Police lose out on getting their share.

Life can be cruel. So can death.

But I admire the sensitivity of the Press. No naming or photograph. Well that should ease the family's grief at learning how he was shot and left to die from his wounds and that there'll be no justice whatsoever or arrest.

    Thailand.

It amazes me that you are still here in Thailand - I cannot find one positive statement or comment in your post, just plainly rude, insinuating and insulting, Hmmmm maybe not even 'plainly'! You have accused the police of stealing, his partner of colluding, and in general, Thais' and Thailand to be a Hell away from Hell. Why don't you return to the delights of whichever land you left and get mugged there, THEN complain! Why ARE you here? Maybe the guy had upset someone, that remains to be seen, but stop and think for a minute - you are upsetting many people! (Sorry Mr Editor if this is a bit of a diatribe - but invidious and bigoted people just anger me)

    Well said unclekleef. RIP

  2. my bore is 40 meteres and the water is crystal clear but is saline and my nearest neighbor about a half kilo away has a well only 8 meters deep that tastes great not the least bit salty. My place is in Isaan so do you think if I have another bore drilled and only go 15 to 20 metre deep that I will avoid the saline water? Any advice is welcome because I definately have to get drinking water on site for the workers.

I am on the Isarn plateau, so this may not be relevant to you. Our bore went down only 25 metres. Got quite good quality water, although high in Iron. I Have drunk it ,with zero ill effects. What the driller was looking for, was water in Sand. Which acts as a filtering agent as well. Where you are you may not have sand. Our soil structure is : Top Soil, Clay Sandstone, Shale, Sand. The plateau is a bit unique. There is a massive underground"Lake" under most of the plateau. Covering most of Isarn. This "Lake" has been mapped, I do have the maps. Some areas of Isarn, the water is very Saline, therefore unsuitable. Mostly, it is good quality

  3. Jubby

I have seen them for sale at JJ market in BK also have seen them in Chiang Mai at a small shop that sells pet birds, rabbits and poultry he is located right near the entrance to the dog market. I bought some guinea hens from a guy near Amnat Choeron, I think I paid 300 baht each. Just ask around feed stores poultry markets etc they are definately out there. The Thai name is gai talk. Good luck

So . Anyone seen any Guinea Hens (Guinea Fowl) on their travels ?

  4. Take RBH advice on not using pvc like he says because of the flex in the pvc you definately wont get accurate grading. I work in the fish business in Alaska and evreyone here uses the stainless steel pipe graders. If you have enough fish to warrant a grader spend the 10,000 baht to have one made with stainless. If its built with good stainless material it should be the last one you ever need. Good luck

  5. The Chinese Government in their worst day never Opened Fire on a Crowd of Protestors.

Sure they beat people to death with Clubs, but never have they SHOT 10 Year Old Children and Elderly WOmen.

    Obviously a selective memory.

Tell that to the victims of the Tiananmen Square massacre.

    Moron.

@Creation 27. China is one worst countries in the World for abusing

human rights. If this protest was happening in China the protestors

would have been wiped out with in the first week I am sure.

Well spoken because if this happened in China there would have been a massacre shortly after it started. RIP to all those that have lost their lives in this tragedy.

  6. Just look through the back threads in the farming section and you will find a few members that are avid fish farmers where you should be able to find some valuable information at least for tilapia and catfish. Good luck

  7. You people should be ashamed of yourselves.

We are talking about an ARMY possibly slaughtering civilians who are armed with just sticks and rocks for self-defence.

I'll bet none of you know the history of the Thammasat students who were slaughtered in 1976.

Have you seen the pictures or the video?

What is wrong with you people?

Are your business interests at stake or what?

You should be held as guilty as those who may possibly murder many innocent men, women, and children.

Why don't you go back to your home countries and kill your own people.

Well spoken and Amen to that

  8. Can any of you guys give me contact info to have a pond dug in the Ubon Ratchatoni area. I've had a couple dug but am charged 42 baht a cubic meter and the dirt is leveled nicely around the ponds the way I ask, but I wanted some hauled approximately 500 meters to a road I was having built up and was charged 300 baht a truckload for that, the contactor hired 4 additional trucks and used his own 2 trucks plus his tractor to build the road. After reading this forum for awhile I think there has to be lots of better deals to be had, the only problem is I cant find them. Any info would surely be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Wagner,

Last prices I got here in Sisaket. 22 Baht per cubic metre for the excavator (Macro), including spreading near the pond or loading. Soil sold for 180 baht per 6 metre truckload to the locals. Deal to be done with the truck drivers or more practically with an agent capable of organising enough to keep the excavator busy. In the last months ponds being dug have had soil transported up to 1.5 Km for the same prices.

Does that translate to Ubon, who knows? If you are still interested I can ask for you, PM me to discuss. Most Macros travel by truck and it is only some 50 - 60 kms for the transport to travel.

    Isaanaussie

That sounds great, I will pm you right now. Thank you

  9. Quickly - Unmentionable english language daily starting with B and ending with T has a report on their homepage that several pickups with hundreds of southern muslims were seen on the route to Bangkok. That should stir the things up...

Can anyone tell me what they might be up to ?

Bringing fresh supplies of the bombs for the Reds, ops sorry for the government, because apparently it is government who is doing all the bombing :)

Kuffki you really need topull your head out soyou can at least see

  11. I have just read this thread and for the first time I am compelled to join this forum. Everybody is entitled to an opinion so I will give mine. It would appear that most people on this thread are based in the more affluent areas of Thailand and have never ventured further north than Don Muang Airport and if they have it has never been for any extended period.

Posters using phrases like 'minority rabble' just indicate their total ignorance of what is really happeninng in Thailand. How can 20,000,000 people be a minority. Yes 20,000,000, that is the amount of people living in the NE regions of Thailand. Add the North and they clearly have a majority. It has always been a non written policy of many previous thai Governments to keep these people poor and keep them this way so they go down to the 'smoke' and take jobs to help feed their families. Without these people BKK would shut in a few days. Posters should be aware if all migrants workers went home South of Ayuttyha would cease to function.

Sorry I slightly digressed there. This is a class war between the old elite and the new money. The old elite has paid the army to do there dirty work for centuries. When they dont like a government they call a General and we have them removed. The new money has enlisted the help of the poor to further their cause but there will be a price to pay when they finally take power. The poor have now been empowered and the genie is out of the bottle and he is not going back. Forget Thaksin, he is just the bus driver for this crusade and on his return he understands he will have to retain that support to keep power.

Living amongst these people I have realised Thaksin is just a figurehead who either personally, or with help from interested parties, has managed to raise enough funds to keep this protest thriving. These people want social reform and a bigger piece of the pie.

There can only be one outcome if you think logically. That outcome may come tomorrow or 1 year from now or 10 years from now, but be sure it will come. This is not just about fair elections it about winning back power that was unlawfully stole from them in a coup. Not only do they want elections, the leaders of this movement want removal of all the money families that run Thailand. You remove them and there is nobody to instigate another coup. The 'Amataya (elite) will do whatever it takes to keep a grip on this country, even throw grenades into their own supporters to cause one side to fight the other. They are looking for a reason, to justify to the watching world, a ruthless crackdown.

What is scaring the current elite is the finances flowing into this movment and where it might be coming from. That takky chappie has been on a jolly around the world for 3 years.... I dont think so. I believe he has been flying around garnering support to enable his return. Making promises to smaller nations of trade links and access to do business in Thailand in return for donations to his movement. Haven't the arabs been trying to get access to grow rice here but have been told you can only own 49%. Paints a nice picture for Thaksin, returns to power and then changes current legislation to allow the arabs 100% access to grow rice here. Oh where is all the rice grown.... yes red shirt country and they will get xxx more money per tonne. Game over..Tilt. Dont you just love this guy

The above is just a scenario of what might be happening but please take your blinkers off and forget your own insignificant life and see things from both sides. Thaksin is a poor man by Thailands elite standards and cannot afford to finance this movement alone. Somebody is helping him.

Yes my support leans towards the reds but I want a peaceful conclusion to all this and no more deaths. I have got 3 children born here in Isaan and if somebody does not remove these faceless people from power my kids may grow up with no prospects, no money and no future. I apologise to all living in Bkk and my feelings to all grieving relatives on both sides.

This fight for reform was won two years ago when that funeral pyrah( maybe mispelt) was lit.

Well said. My family and friends are also from the rural North and support the red shirts, but I can assure you there is not a terrorist among them.

  12. All the fowl you listed other then the black swans are very common and you should be able to find some by either driving around or asking the people at the feed stores in your area. Chatta Jak weekend market in BK would be your best bet to look for the black swans, there again ask around the shops that are selling fowl but first try to find out the Thai name for black swans. Good luck and let us know if you are able to find what you are looking for.

  13. Yes they might have some gobblers on Loi Kroh but you need to get further out to find what the op is looking for.

There is a place in CM where they have a bunch of shops selling mostly dogs and birds I believe the area is called Hai Ya ( at least thats how it sounds to me) any way there is a shop on the street right next to the entrance to Hai Ya and the old man there sells rabbits and birds and I've also seen ducklings, goslings, guinea keets and chickens at various times. He doesn't have them all the time but if you have someone ask him and they are available he will get them for you.

But getting a gobbler on Loi Kroh road is a sure thing.

  14. Can any one recommend a macro and a tractor for hire in the Ubon area? and the approximate costs per day or per hour if you know them? Last year I had a 2 rai pond dug and the guy I hired would only do it by the cubic yard which seemed quite expensive to me (45 baht a cube) which include leveling all the fill. This November I want to have a long ditch 5 meters wide and 2 meters deep about 500 meters long dug with all the dirt leveled on the outside of my property which borders a small river (at least its small in the dry season) to try and stop flooding, and I hope I can get it done alot cheaper by the day or by the hour. So if any of you guys can steer me in the right direction with any names phone numbers or addres I would sure appreciate it.

    Thank You

  15. I asked my wife and she told me that at some street markets as she called them the same vendor sometimes sells both fruits and veggies but at the more organized markets they have different sections for different products in other words they can sell only veggies in the veggie section and only fruits in the fruit section etc etc.

  16. It's difficult to give an output rate - there are so many variables - but when working the bales come out at about one a minute using a 50hp tractor.

We charge our customers by the unit so, for them, the bigger the better, about 1 meter long is normal for us, our competitors usually make them a bit smaller.

How much do you charge per bale?
