  1. Wonderful news and he at least initially appears to be a decent, honest, sincere and well educated guy, indeed a ray of light in the darkness. I wish him well, he has a tough job ahead of him.

As a guy who was educated at Oxford I wonder whether he will be kinder to falangs living here legally and honestly in LOS. On a purely selfish note it would be great if he allowed at least retirees (and of any age) to own their own houses, albeit with a limited small amount of land say reasonably under 400 square wah or even half of that. Anyway the main thing is for now the well being of this country and its people, and its prosperous future. This is hope at last for the Thai people and I hope a final goodbye to the destructive megalomaniac Toxin (though sadly I somehow doubt it)

Indeed, you are not a litle bit selfish, but very selfish. You are worried about what the impact wil be for yourself. May I remind you that we as farang are not important at all, his sole responsibilty is the welbeing of the Thai public, not the farang.

... and <deleted> are you! The guy wished the new PM well, the Thai people well and also wishing that we may have an easier time of it. What's wrong with that? We are important, especially in the eyes of our immediate Thai families for those that have them, so get off your soapbox :o

Agreed, as highlighted above, he says "the main thing is for now the well being of this country and its people, and its prosperous future." selfish?

And what's so wrong about wishing to be allowed to buy a piece of land? If a Thai (or anyone else) comes to Australia/England/USA/... s/he is permitted to work any job for which s/he is qualified, and if s/he possesses or earns sufficient funds, s/he may also buy property... Why would we not wish the same in Thailand? He is not asking for a gift... simply the 'privilege' of being allowed to part with his hard earned cash in exchange for a commodity, land, just the same as any other resident of this fine nation is 'allowed'.... how is that selfish? A "hot cash injection" which, by-the-way, would surely benefit the Thai economy in the long-run... how is that selfish?

"Please explain!?" <--- Pauline Hanson 1996 ---> lol

Agreed, Abhisit's main focus will be on the Thai people and not Farang interests, that is as it should be and as it must be... but "Rayw"s hope that, due to the fact that the new P.M. might understand what it's like to be a "Stranger in a strange land" (having been one himself), we receive slightly fairer treatment in this country (to which we have brought our $) is not much to ask, is it?

henryalleman: I don't say much on this forum but I read a lot, you have said many things which I agree with, and many things that I do not, such is the nature of discussion. However I would hope you try to rethink your stance on this issue.

<--- warfie dons the flame-proof suit ---> (gee, it's getting a bit threadbare...)

Warfie, I thank you for your comment, and you are correct to mention

Agreed, as highlighted above, he says "the main thing is for now the well being of this country and its people, and its prosperous future." selfish?

I confess I overlooked that line, and I only focussed on

On a purely selfish note it would be great if he allowed at least retirees (and of any age) to own their own houses, albeit with a limited small amount of land say reasonably under 400 square wah or even half of that.

and you are correct that I should have read that sentence more than once, and not make an too hasty conclusion.

By this I also offer my excuses to Rayw's to make an too hasty conclusion.

    the comment of jackr

... and &lt;deleted&gt; are you! The guy wished the new PM well, the Thai people well and also wishing that we may have an easier time of it. What's wrong with that? We are important, especially in the eyes of our immediate Thai families for those that have them, so get off your soapbox :D

I did answer already in another topic.

Never in My life have I seen such a huge collection of "Human Garbage"(The 10% of Decent freedom and Democratic leaned and informed Intellectuals can knowingly omitt themselves from that comment and join the ranks of "Beautiful Diamonds of Humanity"! Peace to You!) But then what is to be expected of social dropouts who run away from thier existance,Marry a prostitude young enough to be thier daughter, and wish a foriegn born and raised cheat installed by judicial coup well!?(By the way Aphisit can't stand Farangs who are'nt rich!"Key nok" as he so eloquently put it.) That 17% (about the all inclusive make up of the Wealthy and thier cousins!) Can Thieve the Countries Power is sick!

"Wewin" was Bought!Obviously! And will not be prosecuted as a result!Otherwise Aphisit has'nt a snowballs chance in H3LL of retaining a "BS" majority!

We are(Thai Family and I) "OUTTA HERE" to live in a human Society where every citizen has Human rights,A right to vote and have it stick, FREE Speech, and unbridled open access

to any information we choose! Our only regret is the grave miscarrige of justice to the rural poor and working class fine people of Thailand!

Truly a sad day for the Majority of Thai people!Thier freedom has been Bought and sold by a minority of Money grabbing Rich elite! And so there is no change in sight for them.

Good luck when the"New and wonderfull" government begins to change ALL visa regulations! You majority of blind and flippant Farangs have supported Lies and oppression!Hooray!

    Happy Drunken Farang "New Year!!!

  2. I'm looking for *specific* suggestions to woo/impress her family, and to get their blessing.

Most of my gf's family and friends are against me for the below reasons . . . her family is wealthy upper class conservative . . . they all act kind and cordial around me, but my girl tells me what they say on the side . . .

    examples:

"he looks poor, he won't be able to take care of you"

"he isn't a doctor or lawyer, so you'd end up living a life of poverty"

"he is 9 years younger, you're dating a child!"

Then it gets more complicated . . . she has an ex-husband . . . so her mom is freaking out that she'll lose face to her friends that her daughter could get married again. Her mom refuses to even meet me on the grounds of my age, that Im not a doctor, and she has an ex. The rest of her family was friends with her ex, so it makes everyone uncomfortable around me.

On the bright side, they said nothing negative about me being a farang, nor does it seem to bother them :o

I'm an engineer and run a successful company, definitely not poor . . . but I don't think Thais hold engineers in high regard - everyone, including the engineers here, tell me all Thai engineers are heavy drinkers.

I've already played the 'speak thai' card, so other than wearing a suit and tie everyday around her family, what else can I do to ease their worries?

ps - I've already done the 'just be myself' thing for the last 4 months, but to no prevail :D

Read about the "Edipus" complex.Get drunk and get over it!

Really! You WILL NEVER gain thier approval!(I am wed, happy and NEVER accepted. My wife cut ALL relations and as she sais,"Chose Her love over family duty.I must live with my husband NOT My family!"

And She is more than likely using you as Her "Toy Boy".When she gets bored You'll get dumped!

Find someone near Your own age and social class if you want success in Thai Love relations.(Then You can afford to pay the Brides Dowry and not get stuck

With a used car and alot of miles on the clock!Family happy and Bride pair too!)

    Peace out!Merry Xmas too!

  3. Paying elected politician 50 million baht to switch sides and vote for Pueh Thai nominees.

    Source?

    http://www.nationmultimedia.com/2008/12/14...cs_30090931.php

Happy now? Close enough for your needs? I really hate boring people that are self appointed monitors, that post "source".

Oh Yes! Good Reliable Source Sondhi's Newsgroup! Manager!

Shall we all just sit and Watch ASTV TOO?Same Poop Different names!

    NO THANKS!

Find some independant source or someone who can translate Thai Rath, or Read some other exterior Press.Straitstimes,BBC anything but the Mouthpiece of the PAD and Aphisit.

  4. Is it just me, or does this get more pathetic everyday?

I agree. I think it's disgusting that a mob of anti government protestors should be allowed to hold the country to ransom the way they did.

Democracy my a*se! This is no way to behave in a Democratic society. All you yellow shirts should be ashamed of how you have behaved. You behaved like the baby who never got his chocolate!

When a government is voted in Democratically then you should abide by this government and accept that your side lost. Next election time you make a better case for your party and try and win.

Thank god civilized countries don't behave like this. Western countries like the USA and Great Britain would never behave like this, nor would they allow this to happen.

I think I speak for a lot of the democratic countries across the world when I say that we look upon your actions with shame and disgust. There is no glory in the way you have (and are) behaved.

You missed that TRT AND PPP were dissolved for vote buying???

Civilized countries don't have vote buying, so they don't need the PAD.

Your examples USA and Great Britain say it all. Most Europeans don't see the USA as a democracy. You can only select one of two parties with almost the same ideas. That's an even worse democracy than Thailand.

    Poop to To Think about!

Disolved By whom? Two of these (appointed by Whom?) Judges are accused and untried for "Corruption" One for dirty Property deals.

Civilized countries? They have educated and or knowlegeable persons who understand and Respect democratic Law and principles.

USA's last dirty, 'Puppet" ,bought ,regime secret overseen personally by Alexander Macdonald (OSS /CIA op and "Friend" of someone who "Matters") and later replaced by

Agent Senior,Jim Thompson(Thai Silk King)!NAAAA! Air America flying over a decade of missions and millions of tonnes of amunitions, equipment and bombs to VietNam

and more important LAOS.The most Bombed area in History! From WHERE? Who Built them bases and Infrastructure?Golly Guys, ALL the Vets know it (CIA especially!) But have a Hush order to keep thier beer, minge and pension flowing!NOOOO! All this from and in Thailand?

Remember the "Old Moth Ball" Airport they began flying stranded Farangs home from? That's right! One of dozens built by the US used for launching attacks on Viet Nam and the Bombings of Cambodia and Laos!No wonder Peoples of the Region all seem to greatly dislike eachother! But Most Thais don't have a clue about this filthy secret!

Despite Thai Mercinaries on "The Payroll" to Fight with the Mon army in north Laos!(Paid by The White Star Company and Air America!) And of coarse Billions of cash and combined "Aid" went to Some interest somewhere in this Nation.Though I am Too stupid to be privy to such information! Or too smart to say yet.

A note of intrest,The Geneva Convention Strictly prohibits "the use of "Foriegn" troops to solve conflicts on none-ingaged nations soil".

It is Quite sad indeed! Who in the end are the victims? And the REAL culprits (though however indirectly)

    FACT undeniable

Thaksin turned this place around and was the first Democratically elected PM to sit a full term and be elected again.

Moreover He was the First Leader to Give Thai people an independant Standing and sense of Pride in the Global Community.

The poor Obtained access to ALL the "Goodies" which only the Elite had for decades before.

He was also no more corrupt than, as stated above, many other politicians Here or abroad.Who pays ALL of thier taxes?

I'm more than sure Most of those living in LOS don't!

PAD most Thais Know are Thugs hired by the Elite. The "Red" shirts Have been thus far Very respectful and peacefull in comparison.I have attended thier rallies(What few there have been!)And nearly ever see faces covered "Vigilanty" style. And NEVER see guns knives or even pokers/sticks being carried! Most of these people are not representing a party, just a Principle,Democracy and the "unplugged" constitution.

We May love our Partnerns,But they may not have the Maturity or Capability to translate ALL of the things transpireing at this time.

This is a Growing democracy living under a pretty large illusion, created ,like a runaway Train,By the Best in the Business(US State Dept, and CIA)!

  5. Could it be that they are in some way trying to benefit the crippled airline industry? This is Thailand you know.

Of coarse! The Well off can afford to fly! And the "Farang Key Noks"(our younger Colledge age children) Will be kept away from influencing the "Rural" Thai's in more "Remote" areas

    with tthier "Democracy" ideas!

The funny thing of coarse being the "Convenient" timing of this "Rule"? No Government! Quick quick , New Rule!

Great! Now We are as Progressive and competitive as Burma!

Wife and I are GONE!!To live in a "Civil" and fair society!

Hope You with "Proper" visas make a fortune on "Nothing"!

    Ciow!

  6. This The Most Sensible Thead I've seen gathered in a long while!(Did'nt bother to include quotes from the "Sensless Minority"!

Looks like the cartoon is about the growing hostility to Thaksin in 2005-06. It includes Snoh and the Wang Nam Yen faction (now Pracharaj and part of the coalition) and other opponents.

In a mature Westminster-type democracy, if the governing party leader is losing popular support he/she is challenged within the party, but the party itself retains its mandate even if the leader changes. In Thailand everything depends on the leader. The party stands or falls by him.

Somchai is not the problem, even though he's in thrall to the Shinawatra clan. The problem is the whole government and PPP. They are simply minions of Thaksin.

In calling for the resignation of Somchai, PAD are not simply asking PPP to elect a new leader. They are asking the PPP government to dissolve the House and call fresh elections. This is not, in fact, PAD's overarching goal, which is a partly appointed form of administration, but is a short-term measure.

A "Westminster-type democracy" is called a "Parlimentary Democracy with Proportional Representation"! The PPP nor Somchai have

Lost "popular Support"The Fact is They enjoy an Overwhelming Majority of Support.Twice! It would'nt matter what they called thier Party or which they were in, because they represent an ideology called "Democracy".

A Minority of Disgruntled citizens have been used by a "Corrupt Bankrupt Media Mogul" and an Ex Army General responsible for the Deaths of MANY students and By the Way DEMONSRATORS in 1992.This to Take Power, Stop Democracy, and make Billions.Handing a "Partial" right to a Partial vote, to The Priviledged and Rich in society. Stinks of CCP (China),Tat Madaw (Burma),

and a few other I am to tired to mention.

This ,the elloquently written meaning You seem to grapple with "In a mature Westminster-type democracy, if the governing party leader is losing popular support he/she is challenged within the party, but the party itself retains its mandate even if the leader changes"This would be called "Impeachment" ,Nixon 1970's and Clinton of more recent dishonor. No a total Change of a Party Elect, as is such the case at hand,is very rare and highly unusual in thriving Democracies.

We must talk of a Parlimentary Vote of "Non Confidi" No confidence.(To Remove a Party Elect) You see all democracies have very simple, easy to understand rules and principles in thier root form. But When the Greedy or Power Crazed begin to get involved, often they "Rewrite things to serve a selfish or individual need. This is Called " The Perversion" of Democracy.

(While the Principles and judiciary support for such a scenarios are in tact in all Mature Democracies. This too is a very rare occurance in most Democracies.)

As for Your anology of My Picture Posting You are wrong! It is an illustration from the end of 2007.If You look Closely You can see that.

The meaning is that "Same Game again as the one Thaksin underwent". But in the illustration it was Samak's turn. And Now AGAIN for Democracy to get out?!

I hope you Remember PM Panomyong , and Ajan Puy Ung Papon 6 oct 2519 (1973)and (Now PAD joint leader Chamlong 1992! Read the Histories and understand that unless We learn from the past, "History will repeat itself"!

Khap Khun hyaleng mai kuy yim!

    Peace Out!

  7. Thailand shouldn't be referred to as a "Land of Smiles" any more. The 'Land of Idiots' is far more appropriate. :o

When terrorists (of any description) take over a country's main airport, a government must react swiftly and decisively. However the PM's request for the police to remove the protesters by 'gentle means' typifies the absurdity of the Thai Psyche (i.e. trying to save face at all costs and don't offend the guy who's beating you over the head with a hammer as he may get angry) :D

The PAD have now officially put me out of business. I have lost millions of Baht because of this latest development but I may recover by moving my business, and jobs, elsewhere. So I'll get over it, but how many Thai businesses are on the verge of financial ruin or bankruptcy?

Personally I detest the PAD Idiots, but I have now lost any hope I had in the current government to restore law and order.

No matter what happens, I fear there will be bloodshed in Thailand on a scale never seen before in modern times. The seizure of Suvarnabhumi airport will be the tipping point for an economic cataclysm that Thailand will never recover from. :D

Truly Sad to hear of Your Loss! And that of the Thai's.Who have so little to begin with!

Try not to be angry at the "People".It's like everyone getting angry at everyday People in the US for Bush's actions of late. They have limited power after their vote is cast. And the option is certainly not easy or without pain!

I've spoken with Many Thai's who share Both Your sentiments,Pain, Disdain for the Loss and feeling of hopelesness! The difference is

THEY cannot just leave. They must remain to face that which will ensue.Save what You can from the wreckage and move on.There is meaning in all things that happen to us if We can be open to see and understand it.

While You must try to rebuild anew, The Thai's have another Kharmic task before them!GOOD LUCK Were ever You Go!

  8. wrong on all counts H.S.

    You See! jdinasia,

this is the root of the WHOLE problen We in common face hear(reguardless of Race,Creed , Religion or Nationality)

That is Namely a lack of "Will" and or "ability" to fully communicate Ideas so that everyone can reach some agreement or undertsanding.

So That together Unilaterally,WE can begin to Make closure and Move Forward TOGETHER. To Make a Safe, Proud and Happy future for our children and theirs!

'wrong on all counts H.S." does'nt even creat the slightest hair of understandable rebuttal to My Facts Stated below.(You can Google and Read the Thai Constitution. As for the Historical chain of events,WE'VE all been following that.)

It seems many people don't choose intellectual diologue. Why? Are they not really interested in creating a peacefull constructive discussion to solve the problems WE ALL face?Perhaps We are Lazy? Or feel powerless? I'm not sure anymore.

But just casting Verbal one line "Poopies" to hurt eachothers Egos, does'nt seem a rational step forward by grown Mature People who share a common history. And were educated in learning from the mistakes of our common Ancestors!

    Truly I'm Sad!

    Peace On!

  9. I don't think he should have to.

But, I think he might have to.

    If you catch my drift.

Did he do anything wrong? :o
Not sure the PAD would back off even if he did step down. Besides it seems like Thaksin is all too happy to step back in in his place, which would make things much worse.
Did he do anything wrong? :D

    No. Guilty by association.

But lets face it. They got him by the balls.

Do you think he's competent to run the country? There's your answer.
Do you think he's competent to run the country? There's your answer.

He is, and he's a decent man, but without being able to pull the levers of power like the army and the police, he is effectively powerless and isolated, and, regrettably, I think he must now go. Then the army must clear the airport, arrest Sondhi and the other leader of that rabble and put them on trial for the crimes they have committed against Thailand, which are worse than anything Thaksin did (economically speaking, not drug dealer murders).

I don't support the means the PAD have gone to to make their point but what I have gotten out of this is that

What the PM has done wrong is what he has not done right. He doesn't wield the authority to command the police and military. He has been shown powerless during a national crisis. He is weak and someone more powerful and respected needs to replace him.

If he steps down the terrorists win!

This The Most Sensible Thead I've seen gathered in a long while!(Did'nt bother to include quotes from the "Sensless Minority"!

Thank Bhudda There are minds like Yous!!PEACE!

  10. the thais involved in this power play do not care about your business as they do not care about tourism, its really low on their priority, sad but true, and being an expat here makes you realise what it must be like for foreigners living in our own countries back home, somtimes not easy, sometimes unwelcoming,am sorry for your business and all the others suffering right now,and particularly those in the tourist industry, these are very dificult times abiut to get worse.

C'mon there! Comparing "Our Countries Immigrants" situation to what's going on here is a "Bit" over the top!

This is a Large Gang of Ruthless thugs trashing the Entire infrastructure and economy to instal a Facist Dictatorship!

It's like comparing Mohamad Ali and Amy Winehouse as Fighters!!!( Wait now that Might be a good Celebrity Death Match!! :o )

But Your observations otherwise are to Be commended! Right You Are!

    Peace to You and Yours!

  11. Tak Bai, thanks for the reminder.

As long as it serves the greater goal of the Thai state (this can be interpreted at will by the powers that are in control) justice is a flexible term in Thailand. I believe the way forward should be to limit the power and influence of military and police more, and allow civil society to grow stronger.

I do think Thaksin was on this path and that is the main reason he is not in power anymore.

    :o:D

    :D :D :D:wai:

Thaksin was moving up his hand picked classmates in

both Police AND Army to get greater control of BOTH.

He also sued anyone who criticized him ; 1 billion baht a shot,

and as often as not the critique was based on facts,

but silenced with the power of teams of lawyers.

He was on the complete INVERSE path.

"He also sued anyone who criticized him ; 1 billion baht a shot" Pray tell where did You aquire such

detailed information?Would You PLEASE share with all of us Whom ALL those anyones sued were?

And of coarse why does it cost 1 billion Baht a Shot? If You can name me just 3 cases,Names, dates and which

Court He Paid the 3 Billion to,I will give You 3 thousand Baht!( You are aware that If You are Lying, it is Slander in Thailand and for the cost of a couple thousand Baht one Could Take You to court to Prove Your accusations?)

"and as often as not the critique was based on facts"What Facts, Who's,When Just two "Factual" Cases of true critique followed by 1 billion law Suit and I'll give You 2 Thousand Baht MORE!(Seems absurd! You can't get sued for "Critique well? I though it was Slander of Defamation!)

Hey Your soon a Rich Guy!(Don't forget to Vote for Me!)

    Peace Out!

  12. The government was elected democratically by the people to represent them. A minority in Bangkok don't like the results and are trying to "fix it" so that the results are what they want rather than what the majority want. That is not democracy.

IMHO, the government should move the capital to some other city, anyway. This fiasco is proof that there is just too much "stuff" [insert alternative word] in one city. Leave Bangkok as the center for commerce. Move the seat of power elsewhere (Khorat or Khon Khaen would be my choice, personally).

Doing it under this administration would also create jobs when and where they are most needed.

    not again that nonsense!!

The 3 biggest parties get dissolved on December 15 because of their massive vote buying. So they are NOT democratic elected.

    h90 ,

First the courts had NO judicial support in the Thai constitution to make "parties get dissolved, because of their massive vote buying".

    1) They did'nt let the commission finnish it's investigation.

    2) They had no REAL authority as they were placed there by "None Legitimate"means. The Army Junta!

    3) Before the Army Junta Fiddled with the Constitution there was NO SUCH "Law".It is all Hokus Pokus.

(If not the Law and Constitution or People, Who Controls The Army? And the Courts?)

Like in Western democracies, a party cannot be held collectively accountable for what some members and or employees do.

That said INDIVIDUAL politician can be prosecuted and MUST be removed and replaced by the Party involved! That was the constutition.

    post-64091-1227941046_thumb.jpg

Precise and true Your thoughts.Shared by many uttered by few!Actually the Thai constitution Guarantees the people FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

The Original Constitution of 1932 even went further and limited certain exclusive powers in society. In striving after a fair and free life for all

    "Siamese" now Thai people.

That said if someone sais the "Wrong" things they are sensured,Imprisoned or worse Murdered!

So it is So it has been for a number of Decades!

  14. How can this still be???

    Yes, I would support a coup [ 352 ] [50.43%]

    No, I would not support a coup [ 346 ] [49.57%]

No more voters, it is as divided as Thailand.

Is this Thaksin's legacy in the fahrang world.

News for you chum.Thai Visa isn't the farang world. It isn't even representative of farangs in Thailand (particularly the more educated section holding work permits, senior management positions etc).It as its name suggests is primarily a forum for visa runners.Look at the advertisers and it tells you all you need to know.

Totally spot ON! (Exept there soon are'nt any more Tourists left! And the Business Farang can't make any money anymore.

As for the family visas.........Most of them have applied for Family visas in the "other" direction, so sad it is !)

The PAD said they want to "Rebuild the Country"! Now that they have Trashed it THEY CAN!!!Sad for the majority of Thais who have worked for a lifetime to polish thier World image as a peaceful, kind and well mannered paradise to relax and be pampered in!

As for statistics highest up, The Medias here are ALL owned sensored and run by the "Elite".Including the BKK post!

The Nation The ASTV are "Manager Group" run by Sondhi who is PAD's ( Private Army for Dictatorship)Errand Boy.

Don't believe nothin ya read!!(Ahhh! English Police quick quick!!Key Nok Make mistake!!!)

  15. Is coup needed? how much would it take for the army to round up the trouble makers and restore law and order??????????

which trouble makers? you mean the somchai cabinet?

get rid of somchai and the PAD disperses and there is no more problem.

much easier to move one man than 50,000

    Ingnorance is bliss!

First Thaksin got out!("We'll disban after a fair election and order is restored",PAD)

Then Samak Got out("We just want Samak out,Then We will Quit",PAD)

Now Somchai out? Common! It,s plainly Lies and Deciept.

Facists often advocate such Propaganda to reach thier ends.Along with talk of "Killing People"

and employing Thugs with Guns and bombs. And Innocent people as Human Shields.

Question: Who controls the Airport in any nation? The Army!

How can a gang of a few Thousand people storm in and take over? Not one but two airports?

Who controls the Army? The People?

My wish that ALL peoples will look with both eyes open, and see How dangerously close a Facist Dictatorship is

close to forming control here! Just like over 30 coups in the last 60 years.Only this one looks as Brutal and bloodthirsty as the one in 1972-73.Which ended in Violent bloodshed!

    PEACE TRUTH and DEMOCRACY!

50 Thousand is a gross exageration Suvarnabhumi 7-10 thousand Now less as some have gone home.!

Wait till the 50 Million Majority get really poor hungry and pissed off!

  16. Is coup needed? how much would it take for the army to round up the trouble makers and restore law and order??????????

and employing Thugs with Guns and bombs.

  17. 3) Most Important. ALL PEOPLE deserve the RIGHT to Vote and have a say in their Form of Society. On ALL Levels.Local and National!

These are Basic and fudamental Human Rights!

Your post is a mix of confused rambling and non-factual based arguments, but I like this one above.

A human right to vote? Are you kidding me?

If it is a human right to vote, why is there an age limit? Why isn't it noted as an human right by any organization?

Fact is that voting in an election isn't a right at all. Only someone with poor realization of how the world works would even propose it should be.

Never mind the fact that the rant you are pulling is misguided, since everyone would under 'new politics' still be able to vote...

To retort with "Moron" would be a blight on the unfortunate mentally handicapped!

    First, age limits.

"If it is a human right to vote, why is there an age limit?"

For the same reason Children are'nt allowed to "Sell butt" "drink Booze" or join Armies! To protect them until they are fully developed.Physically and Mentally.18 to 21 seems to be the universal Studied and agreed academic norm

    For Adulthood.

"(If it is a human right to vote)Why isn't it noted as an human right by any organization?"

Oh It IS! You are either too ignorant to fathom the deep hidden meanings in the textual content.Or You like to

misinform people while sounding as though You know what you speak about!

    Article 21.

    • (1) Everyone has the right to take part in the government of his country, directly or through freely chosen representatives.
      (2) Everyone has the right of equal access to public service in his country.
      (3) The will of the people shall be the basis of the authority of government; this will shall be expressed in periodic and genuine elections which shall be by universal and equal suffrage and shall be held by secret vote or by equivalent free voting procedures.

"Fact is that voting in an election isn't a right at all. Only someone with poor realization of how the world works would even propose it should be."

Is Your Processor Seriously Damaged or WHAT!

Nearly ALL Human Rights organizations have at least reference to if not a Charter for Voting/choice inclusion in the national ruling body.

On December 10, 1948 the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights the full text of which appears in the following pages. Following this historic act the Assembly called upon all Member countries to publicize the text of the Declaration and "to cause it to be disseminated, displayed, read and expounded principally in schools and other educational institutions, without distinction based on the political status of countries or territories."

    THE LINK: http://www.un.org/Overview/rights.html

So TAWP You should'nt just talk "Brown Mouth"! Because that is what it is when One Lies about Facts.

If You simply voiced your opinion, THAT I would respect!

But to act as a "Know it all" while spewing dis-information!??(" Why isn't it noted as an human right by any organization?")

I wonder have You ever even looked at ANY Human Rights Information?

Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.

How Old are You By The Way?

  18. From The Nation web-site:

"Thaksin's lawyers file complaint against Sondhi

    <H2></H2>

"Two layers of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra filed a complaint with police alleging Sondhi Limthongkul, the Manager Daily and ASTV with defaming him ... The two layers said they were authorised by Thaksin to take legal action against Sondhi for making defamation statement against the former prime minister and the statement was published by the paper and aired on the satellite TV"

I'm confused ... isn't it the case that he has no faith in the Thai justice system? So how can he carry on suing people? You can't reject the system when it suits you (i.e. when you are charged) and then turn around and rely on it to help you out!

Deformation of Character and slander is illegal here.(So is Threatening killing and Maiming other people as "Sody"

has been doing publicly for weeks!)

  19. "1158 User(s) are reading this topic (845 Guests and 2 Anonymous Users)"

Wow, I can't believe how many people want to see him burn in heII.

come on guy this is one of the most important decisions for the good of this wondeful country

WE ARE a naive bunch(Most of "Us")!

These laws ARE the Junta's "New"amendments to the constitution! RE: Thaksin was within the Code of law At said time the "Land" deal was made.

Can someone confirm that this statement is true. I don't like to execute a criminal and found out later that the court was rigged. i am sure that the judges (apart from Somchai who is a ex-judge) is not stupid enough not to pick this out.

    didn't read the post #86 above? :o

Does anyone remember, that at one stage both of them claimed they did this purchase not for personal gain but for their children so to socialize with their mates in Bangkok they had a place to stay (33 Rai!!!)and didn't need to drive the long and dangerous distance! ? Anyone?

I thought it was the rudest reply ever... and blunt lie... seems these people have completely lost their feeling for right or wrong, basically seem to care &lt;deleted&gt;!

I am amazed at how many bloggers here if even peripherally, support/sympathize with PAD. Corruption is ingrained in Thai culture. It will take generations to eradicate. PAD claims democracy. Hah. Not even close. The closest thing to PAD politics is Communism. Let's get real guys. They waqnt to roll it back to 1973 with no clear plan, candidate or process. AS long as the press is not free and everyone can be bought, even the most primal form of democracy here is impossible. I love Thailand. been here for 18 years, have an extensive family here, and have seen the bouncing ball go every which way. I am saddened that the world is laughing at Thailand now. And the beat goes on...

ABSOLUTELY Correct! PAD repressive and quite simular to a stupid mix of Tat Madaw Burmese Junta and the old Creepy Pol Pot/ KmereRouge Polotics! You who spew negative? and Pro PAD supportive veiws will agree then? With their main veiw that" The Poor and uneducated should have NO (or little 30% locally only!) say in the Vote because they are "To dumb" to choose ?

    WTFudd?

And the Obese endowment funding?(We need Detective Clouso to fined the Missing "Gem" here!)

Have some links to find the truths if you care to (Those who offer forth "Ignorants" based on NO FACT!)

I do understand that alot of You out there prefer the "Disneyland" Utopic means of "News" consumption.Following "The Nation", "BKK Post","Manager" web site and Yes even ASTV ,(Personally as good as The Burmese Tat Madaw's information Rag "The Myanmar Star"!)

Simply "Because they are In English".But C'mon! That's a bit TOO easy! As opposed to "Our" BS Press in home nations(60% true 40% twisted BS) ASTV's Translation is about 15% accurate and 85% DooDoo!

Most of My Thai Freinds are the Aged. They were the peoples Who Humbly welcomed us here with a beautiful Smile and a sincere curiosity 21 years ago. Most are Quiet and will not speak their veiws so openly to strangers. But they are sad at the state of affairs presently. Most of the "Younger Peoples" will smile and tell farangs anything to keep the "Sabai Sabai" Party time,(Come and Spend Your Money) Fantasy and False feeling of security alive!

    1) Thailand is A Developing Democracy. If some Hookey Power does not Hijack that process.

    2) If One understands WHO and Why The Top Judges sit where they Do here. And More over What Protection they have (For their Dirty Past Deeds never brought to Legal issue!)One would Nkow that Present Judgements are Travesties!(Like Uh Bush won the second term? How?People see people learn!)

    3) Most Important. ALL PEOPLE deserve the RIGHT to Vote and have a say in their Form of Society. On ALL Levels.Local and National!

These are Basic and fudamental Human Rights!

    Peace Out! :D

  20. WE ARE a naive bunch(Most of "Us")!

These laws ARE the Junta's "New"amendments to the constitution! RE: Thaksin was within the Code of law At said time the "Land" deal was

    made.

His wife did NOT get the land cheap! She tenured this highest bid!776Million bht for 33 rai.The commitee representatives voted that her bid won!The land was being sold by the Thai Developement authority. 776 million + buildings on that barren land would have been a sweet deal for the local inhabitants of this BKK center.

Meanwhile the PAD has created a vaccume of security here in LOS.And the criminals are rapidly understanding that "Anarchy" can be lucrative!

Ex: previous 14 days in Petburi,1 attempted rape and successful robbery on an elderly female teacher, One House robbery on a Large Beauty shop: the power was cut to inhibit the CTV survail and it was cleaned out,05:30 this morning and woman was jogging, knocked down kicked and robbed by a gang of 5 young men (They freely "Tag" their gang name about town lately "SK")

I can suggest several alternatives to the Crappy Biased Media coverage and the PAD brainwash!( PM me!) Thaksin did about 1000% less ugly doodoo than Bush or Blair! And despite all of the moanings,Actually lifted the average Thai living standard 100%.As well as creation of a somewhat well fubnctioning and secure legal system.

It's a power struggle.Between Democratic principles and a small wealthy elite! At least 50 Million Thai's need to be "Brainwashed" by PAD.

    I don't think so!

By the way can anyone tell us WHO has "The Arabian Blue Diamond"?

    Peace!

  21. Just an update on this incident. The Belgian gentleman is fine, the attacker is still in prison, the attackers truck is living more or less permanently in the Police compound and the Police Captain has lost his job.

    Cheers

    Good result.

Nice to Hear Justice done! And Most important the Elderly Gentleman (And his Wife!) Are alright!

Thank the minority of Good Siamese "Old School" peoples and thier moral values for it.

Nasty People are growing in numbers in ALL nations just now.Crimes of violence are commonplace in societies which idolize the,Market Consumerism, succsess of wealth and the forever Young. And let our children be Babysat by playing violent video games and Viewing fantasy soap operas(Filled with advertising jingles(Lies) and sound bites)Before mental/Social developement!ALL modern Societies deal with this the new Mental Ilness.

It is sad that a Nation where Tourism/Foriegn investment are vital to the economy, has Developed the Consumtion sector but the Social Judiciary and Rights of the individual.

Tis easy for "US" to only see Farang targeted crime,But I am SURE for every Farang offended there are several if not a Hundred Thai Persons targeted by criminals. And yes Many Thai people are silenced by the fear or knowledge of helplesness. And threat of corruption and Mafia.

And many of us turn a blind eye to the causes in our everyday Cosumercratic lifestyles and purchace judgements.

WE are ALL in this Together in these trying times!Peace!

That a third of a million people in Thailand's supposedly most politically-enlightened city should vote for a confessed criminal, pimp of under-age prostitutes, and general all-round thug as the person to present the face of their capital city to the world makes me speechless. Barred from the US (and who knows how many other countries), how can those voters live with their decision? Shades of Narong Wongwan (Wrong-One?). And Watana Asawahame. And ... and ... and ...

    mathematics is not yours or?

Calculate it again, it is not 1/3

that under-age story is as well not as you tell.

I would say people are bored by the "normal" politic.

    OHHWWW YEAHHHH BABY!

WE are Bored of the "Normal" politic(s)!

Bring on the Skin Traders, The Thugs and the Mafia!!Bankrupt our Brains! Corrupt our children! Destroy our Future!YEAH I LOVE IT! Anarchi and Kaos! Lay the Cities tax Budget to waste! Give to the Rich and EAT THE POOR!

Let's elect some Neanderthal Barbarians who can't read! They will be strong leaders! And We shall ALL go forth and pee and mark our spots. And We will reproduce and be Many!

    Big TV

    Pick Up Bank Loan

    Give Us Money

    Who needs Brain Cells

    We Got Gold

    Who needs Taxes

    We'll never grow old

May I propose the NEW (Not Normal) National Anthem?

We will have a New Politic(s) and it shall be called "Consumocraty"!

And a New Nation will take form and We Shall call that Land "Whyland"!

  23. Just what the already damaged tourist industry needs. Appreciably rapists are not normal to begin with, but when an assailant targets someone for sexual assault that is almost 40 years older, it is an indicator of a significantly disturbed subject. The woman was lucky to fight off the guy. If the guy was as cool and collected as the report suggests, then this was most likely not his first attack and he will do it again until stpersonal typre opped. Hopefully, this story will remind some of the ladies reading to be cautious.

I must say this statement is from the perpetuation of the the myth that rapist are actually horny and not just bent on domination by the most violating act possible... as the poster finds that the victim's advanced age makes the perp somehow... sicker.

Am I right that it's also stating the woman, ( ladies ? ) wasn't cautiious enough to avoid the attack? At 1 in the afternnon in her own neighborhood..

    Isn't that blaming the victim?

    Horse Doctor:

I feel Your Sympathies (Lack of) are uncalled for!So Unfeeling and calous,to resemble the traits of the "Broken Brain" who attacked the Lady.In a Twisted way YOU seem to be trying to show everyone you are "intelligent"!?Quite the opposite. You are'nt even witty.

I have simply shared a sad bit of news with the "Community" here.

A Grandmum attacked by a very young Male in a Cruel way!

I suggest You Put your head Back Up the Horses!Humans are not Your "Forte´".

"If You aint got nuthin nice to say ,don't say nutin at all"!Shirley Temple at 6 Years of Age.

"AM" Thanks The rest of You,for Your kind wishes and Thoughtful sympathies!

    Peace!

  24. So sad ... :o

I hope she will be able to recover from that. And that the neighbors didn't care to help leaves me speechless.

Hope she makes a full recovery, and good luck to this lady.

Hope this scumbag is caught quickly, but with the neighboring cops being so alert and helpful, I'm not holding my breath.

We(Thai Wife and I) are helping with canvassing witnesses in the area.As a result My wife has uncovered

witnesses to pre-attack sightings and ID of suspect.Who are willing to help!My Wife is very informed about police proceedure and Thai Law.And the Police are seemingly Quite concerned and eager to catch the culprit. We are watching vigilantly.

As "Due" process in Thai Police proceedure. In the Cases of Violent nature reported to the Police a full investigation MUST be carried out. And Followed up by a Registered Report in the Head Bangkok Office and also REGISTERED/Filed officially with the said victims Embassy of Nationality. That is Thai Law Strictly! Let NO Rural Office or officer tell You otherwise.Soflty but firmly request that in any case of violent nature. That These proceedures be carried out! Otherwise One will go to BKK and or the Newspapers and or Embassy and File a Formal Complaint of Peacekeepers BREAKING the Law!

( My Wife thought You should KNOW YOUR RIGHTS!)Many Cops are VERY good at their job in Thailand! They do as in our homelands, need to be treated with human respect from first meeting.

They have a rough job considering all of the handguns and loonies concealing them here!

Just the same there are some (Bad Ones like at home and it helps to be well informed of Your rights in LOS!)

  25. If he was a police man in the uk, then i hope he get a very sore A-hole on the inside, every day.

    A-hole.

WOAAHHH Horsey! Wait here folks! Don't most of us being raised in societies with a strong legislature

and citizens rights beleive in the ole"Innocent until proven guilty"?

Where does this goofey "Lynch Mob,Hang em high"Mentality come from?

I see NO hard evidence here Yet! And if your gonna do Money Making things Here in LOS A Thai Boss has to give it the "Wink and Nod" first.Who knows if You make a local enemy socially. It's easy to toss a "Package" over Your garden wall and into the bushes. Then ring "Cousin" PoonJai to round You up!Seen that, been near, got away! Give the guy a break!
