  1. He has a letter from his employer which states how long he has worked for them, job position, salary and how long his vacation had been approved for. There is no mention about having the position on return.

The embassy agent never looked at any of the paperwork, he merely asked a few questions and denied the visa in less than a minute.

  2. Hi All,

I could use a little advice.

After 11 years of living together here, my partner finally decided to apply for a US Tourist Visa. His application was denied, 214(b ). I've since read up on this section and understand the reasons a person can be denied. It's still unclear which part or parts of that section the Embassy gave a denial. He owns a house, a car, has a good job (4 years+), and has a decent savings account. I know many similar applications to his have been denied.

While filling in the application, I had him put he would be travelling alone since this was true. We have different vacation times in April and he would have arrived at a later date and would leave a week earlier than myself. We hope to reapply in October and November of this year and make vacation plans where we would both be leaving and arriving together.

The advice I need is this, this time should our relationship be mentioned and that I do leave Thailand once a year and return to my job. I know the burden of proof is on the applicant. I'm not certain if I can be considered a sponsor or if my family back home should write a letter. They have visited us in Thailand on a few occasions.

After reading many threads here and elsewhere, I'm not sure if my involvement would be a positive thing or would complicate matters.

    Thanks for any sound advice.

  3. Maturity from the red shirts? Why have they blocked access for police to rescue the 2,000 students at RU while possible snipers are looking down on those students. This is not only immature, but the leaders need to be held 100% accountable for these actions. Depriving those in need of public assistance is criminal.

  4. Call from Surat Thani - many people being offered 1000 baht per day to go to Bangkok to support Sutheps Yellow Shirt/PAD/Democrat violent thugs attempts at overthrowing a democratlcally elected government.

They are getting really desperate now for reinforcements from the South.

Do you have a link to this or some sort of proof this is what the call was about, or just plain rumor mongering?

  5. It looks like there is more to this story than was previously given. While the students did attack a taxi and a bus, it seems they were also provoked by some red shirts, while yet again, a young lady was attacked by red shirts for merely having a whistle. For those who keep screaming how the red shirts are innocent in this really need to look at all sides.

The rector said a number of men on motorcycles from the stadium had provoked the protesting students earlier.
Hundreds of Ramkhamhaeng University students yesterday joined in an anti-red shirts rally in front of the university, after a female student was attacked by the red shirts because she wore a whistle necklace.

  6. Yesterday I looked at Rangsit canal, Klong 1,2,3 and 4. Nothing is being done. Will Lamlokka Kolkot area be a Monkey Cheek? Where is the money going, into a now room added to the politicians house? beatdeadhorse.gif

Is that Bangkok or Prathum thani?

Sent from my GT-P1010 using Thaivisa Connect App

It's Pathum Thani right on the North East border of Bangkok. Tomross46 is correct, absolutely nothing has been done since last years flood in any of these Khlongs that is obvious to me.

I have noticed some work being done on Klong 3 from Klong Luang towards Big C. Mainly shifting the mud to create a higher embankment and some removal of dead trees. Klongs 1 and 2 I have seen nothing at all, except litter building up. Hate to say it since I also live in this area, but the people deserve it this time. They have not learned a single thing since lasts years floods. I do see a lot of people continually throwing their garbage and debris into the waters and it's building up. This time, they have to look at themselves as being the problem.

One thing does worry me and that is the walls being built on Phahanyothin Rd. in the vicinity of the Thanyarak Health facility. It looks like this wall will be stretched out for a ways. I can only think if they're attempting to hold the water back from the Nakhon Nayok canals. I really see no reason for these walls being built. If this is the case, Bangkok will not be safe at all. I seriously doubt people in Rangsit and Phathumthani will sit and watch as there homes still under repairs, will allow this to happen again for a second year straight. Those walls will be down in no time and depending on the water levels, Don Mueang will go and so will parts of Bangkok.

  7. Didn't the government just announce that they would not tolerate blocking roads?

Oh, excuse me, the red shirts aren't actually blocking any roads. They are simply congregating in a fashion that precludes any normal pedestrian or vehicular traffic.

It is actually the police that are blocking the roads. Now I understand... I feel much better now.

Yongyuth warns people against blocking roads

BANGKOK: -- Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Yongyuth Wichaidit Monday warned the people against blocking roads to highlight their grievances, saying the government would no longer tolerate with such practices.

Yongyuth said the people could submit their complaints to the government about their grievances but they had to avoid violating the laws by blocking roads.

"If they block roads, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and the government will not tolerate it. The government will not give in to demands made through mob rules," Yongyuth said.

That's funny, I thought this government is mob rule

They forgot to mention, that only applies if you're a non-redshirt.

"On June 8 police arrested three protest leaders who were sentenced to one month in jail for rallying and blocking roads.

Chavanond said the three led villagers who were angry about not getting compensation in the amount promised by the government, while red shirt protesters who burned down parts of the capital did not have to go to jail, received Bt7.75 million in compensation and some got to become ministers.

"The protesters lost patience and had to come out to rally because they received only Bt250-Bt300 in compensation. The PM has been nothing short of a marketer who only wants to project an image," he said."

Ex-MP vows to fight court's move to suspend his bail in terrorism case

BANGKOK: -- Red-shirt leader Jatuporn Promphan yesterday threatened to file a police complaint against the Constitution Court for making a false statement against him.

In a related development, Justice Minister Pracha Promnok said yesterday that a Justice Ministry fund would post Bt26 million as bond for the temporary release of 13 red shirts convicted and imprisoned for arson attacks in Mukdahan in May 2010 pending an appellate review.

The arson attacks followed crowd-dispersal operations at the red-shirt rally at Ratchaprasong in Bangkok.

The provincial court sentenced the 13 to 20 years and eight months each in jail for torching the provincial hall. The case involving the 13 is undergoing appellate review.

At the Justice Ministry's intervention, bail applications were filed seeking temporary release for red-shirt arsonists, comprising four in Ubon Ratchathani, five in Udon Thani, nine in Maha Sarakham and the 13 in Mukdahan.

The Mukdahan court approved the bail applications on Thursday. The actual release of the 13 will hinge on the posting of Bt2 million surety each.

Pracha said he had authorised his ministry to put up the bail bond. He refused to comment on accountability for the taxpayers' money if the 13 jumped bail.

The red shirts will hold a rally calling for genuine democracy tomorrow - a symbolic date, as June 24, 1932 was the day the administration system in Thailand changed from absolute to constitutional monarchy.

I'm still wondering why anyone who has been found GUILTY would get a temporary release for appeals. Looking at the Sandusky case in the US today, he was found GUILTY, led away to jail and bail revoked. There is no way (thankfully) will they allow him any release while he appeals his case. He's GUILTY, the redshirts are in fact GUILTY! This whole thing about granting bail to anyone found guilty and sentenced reeks. Will the justice department now allow and provide funds for each and every prisoner found guilty and sentenced while they are on appeal? There can't be double standards.

  9. Seriously doubt if this is any kind of terrorist, sure some will shout "told ya so", seems more like a lone nut job with some personal agenda regardless of his "assumed" nationality. If he had been Arab/muslim/iranian....whatever.... with Dollars in his pocket....what the assumption then?

Agreed, could be some southern nutcases lost their way. 2 of the listed names there sound / look a bit "southern".

Are you implying that the victims had something to do with this and are lone nutcases? Besides the bomber, the only other released names are the victims.

  10. It is the type of BS that the Government puts out more lies, who can believe them.

and at 16:08 this afternoon MCOT posted this so I guess the lies are stil comming and no-one takes responsibilty.

As usual, not a word from Yingluck. Perhaps shopping for new Burrberry boots or Louis Vuitton for Friday's gala event? Strangely enough nary a word from the Deputy Agriculture and Cooperatives Minster, Natthawut Saikua. He's had no problem vocalizing in the past. Nothing but lies and silence once again.

  11. How far away does one have to get to truly get away from the American non-sense that constantly flows out of the government? Sorry, but meaningless scare tactics don't impress me. Furthermore, if two people can stimulate a panic without even doing anything, then the so-called bad guys win, period.

In addition, this 'cry wolf' crap is really getting old. Here's an idea America: try minding your own business and stop pissing on the rest of the world. See how that works instead of the normal gospel-spreading course, please.

    My sentiments EXACTLY... Thank you...

Since it is highly unlikely that "America" is reading this thread and won't get the various ideas presented, it could work to your advantage to make use of the Embassy services offered. As a citizen you have the right to complain, offer sound advice on how to run the Embassy services and tell them to stop pissing on the world, mind their own business and to stop crying wolf. Instead of moaning, make that difference.

I am certainly thankful for the information.

  12. Mr Surapong noted Thailand is a friendly country and expresses itself in the world's arena in an appropriate manner. He asked potential terrorists not to pose any threat to the country, for the world needs peace and Thailand is a Buddhist country that maintains peace as well. (MCOT online news)
