  1. I Looooooooove the Soi 8 Bar. My GF, Dad and Friends love it, too. We now becoming regulars as the Soi 4 is going down!

Happy to go there bag soon. Yeaaaaa!!!!! Great Place!!!!!

its a kiwi bar, owned by the governer(6ft 2) and his wife, she could lighten up a bit. always got her eye on things. pleasant atmosphere, foods good and the beers cheap and a great place to go and watch the rugby.

perhaps one of the reasons it is successful is the fact that she has her eye on things? :)

Soi 8 Pub has just been sold to Coyotes!!

  2. Wonder what type of driver's license one needs, motorcycle or car? :o

Tuk Tuk license for Thai's only.

They have issued the rare special case license (Thailand to UK by Tuk Tuk etc) but a no on for normal use

  3. I’m really quite amazed at the naivety of some posters.

Protest – To whom? Do you really believe anyone within the Thai administration gives a ###### about you?

Write to CNN/Fox/BBC – To what end? Do you honestly believe the overseas media cares about expats in Thailand?

Having worked here for longer than I now care to remember, this is just another ‘inconvenience’ in the long line of rule changes over the years.

Farangs have NEVER been accepted by the people that count, in fact when you consider the economic impact of the proposed FBA changes and last Octobers immigration changes, these far outweigh the current retirement visa issue and yet they still stand.

Unfortunately one has to accept that foreign ideals on fairness, what’s right and proper just do not apply here. We are just barely tolerated under THEIR rules.

I too will be devastated when (not if) the day comes that a future rule change turns my world upside down but I am realistic enough to know that that day is coming.

It’s their play pen. If you don’t want to play their way, find a different play pen.

  4. It’s nothing to do with consumption but rather on the lack of revenue to pay for it. Mismanagement of diesel subsidies and driving away tourists due to ‘unfriendly’ attitudes and crazy entertainment operating hours are the real cause.

You don’t here similar hard luck stories from other non oil producing countries that rely upon the tourist dollar.
