  1. I partially agree with Slim. My wife is Thai. We have been married 5 years.

She was 18 when we met. We are very happy and enjoy living in the USA

and in Thailand. It is really not respectful to look down on Thai people.

I am now a father of a beautiful two year old girl. My sister has two girls, 15 and 16. We are certain from their comments that they are sexually active.

You are certainly bound for a big shock as a father if you don't open your eyes

a bit. I myself am trying to be prepared for whatever may come. But being prude

will never ever be an option for my family.

  2. The legal Age for consensual intercourse in Thailand is 16, when there is approval

of the immediate family, however Laws exist which are in effect but not always

enforced to the nature of cultural and regional laws.

The crime committed was the purchase of sex for money, especially at that young age. Thailand merely wishes to convey the fact that this type of behavior is not to be tolerated. It reflects on the society as a whole and is meant to be a deterrent

to current issues with young people looking for alternative income.

As for my opinion, if anyone wishes to hear it; there is no excuse for sex abuse.

At 61 years old there are places to go where the girls are young looking and not

so innocent. We don't know the entire situation here but obviously it appears to

be a case of abuse of circumstance.

As for the laws of Thailand, it is illegal to pay for sex in any case, regardless of age. Although we all know that law is fortunately not enforced to any great extent.

  3. I work for the US Government and am starting to be disgusted at Thai laws.

I'm married to a thai national for four years now, she has permanent status in the USA and will be a citizen soon.

    "thighland" is becoming really crap!!!

I was planning to start a business there soon, but they don't even offer me the same respect as my wife gets here in the USA.

I can't get a "green card" or permanent residence in Thailand?

I say let's stop giving out visas to ALL Thai nationals wanting to go to the USA, immediately!!!!!!!!!

    :o

  4. I have finally decided to put forth my opinion of this site which bends and twists the truth to be over dramatic and quite untruthful. Especially this article! Did I read he was a welder? Like in High voltage "arc" welding, hummm...

I've tried to read between the silly lines of so many silly articles so many times that this time I have to put a word in. I was one of the first 7 people developing GSM communications in Germany. Mannesmann, AT&T and Deutsche Telekom.

So I guess you could say I know a tiny little bit about what I am saying.... ;-)

It is absolutely absurd to make such comments, first of all, is this April 1st again?

No water for the soup? Goodness, this reminds me of the rag magazines at Food Lion. "Man Eats "hot" dog while puppies scream... "

A cell phone with a max of 2 watts puts out about as much "magnetic radiation"

as a small 12 volt fan. It does not and cannot attract sparks from even 3 inches from a "power pole", and at that distance you body would be the attraction not the phone. And furthermore the battery "almost any" battery would not explode unless it is subjected to an extreme overcharge or direct short and even then the chances are somewhere around 1 in 2,000,000. This is a fools tale and rediculous at that. A good 5th grade science book would do as a start to disprove this. I hope that in the future some articles on this site will actually have a tiny bit of sense. Sorry to be so blunt!!!

  5. The very thing that WILL make Thailand successful are it's wonderful people.

After living in 37 countries I can beyond any doubt that the people of Thailand are great, polite and most of all hard working. Unlike MANY countries that claim to be "first world". I plan to live and retire in Thailand at a young age.

I have complete faith in the Thai government, it's people and it's Leaders.
