  2. Hello All,

I am an ex true visions platinum subscriber who live is a Condo which isn't connected to CTH cable.

The building wont allow me to install a private dish.

I have tried both 365live and the AIS app and both are far from perfect.

The maige TV system is advertised all over the www.

I would like to know if anybody has tried it to watch the English Premier league / other HD channels and their experience / comments.

    Thanks

  3. Thanks for the responses so far. A few extra points.

I live in a condo on the 18th floor, the condo was completed mid 90's. I guess the levels of insulation are to the construction standard of that time. I live in a 2 bedroom 90m2 unit and have purchased the 45m2 studio next door to make it a 3 bedroom. My current electricity bill is approx 3k / month ( paid direct to the electricity authority ).

The new airconditioner is for the 'new extension' which has been partitioned into a large bathroom, walkin wardrobe and bedroom.

My existing 2 bedrooms are fitted with panasonic 13000 BTU units. These have operated for 3 years without any issues. The smaller room ( approx 14 m2 ) reaches temperature very quickly and is always cool. The larger master bedroom ( approx 19 m2 ) takes a long time to reach temperature but does maintain the correct temperature. The temperature settings are based upon the remote control reading I have never checked them with a thermometer.

The standard panasonic 15000 BTU unit was quoted at 28K from the high street shops and 21K from a smaller dealer. The inverter version was 36k on the high street and 29K from the smaller dealer. I would welcome any comments on a cheaper place to get the panasonic inverter unit in central bangkok.

Thanks to kamalabob2 for your comparison of the two units.

  4. I am about to buy a new air conditioner for my master bedroom and cant decide whether or not to purchase an inverter or standard type of system. The Inverter system is approx 8K baht more expensive.

The sales rep claims that the inverter type saves at least 20% on the electricity bill and is a quieter system .

The unit is to cool an 18m2 room using a unit rated at 15000btu. Temperature target set at 23'c. The unit will be in operation approx 12hrs/day everyday.

I have 3 panasonic aircon units in my apartment and all 3 have operated for 3 years without any problems. The only brand my friends recommend is a Daikin.

Does anybody have an easy way to calculate the cost per month ? Anybody got a panasonic or Daikin inverter system installed are they really more cost efficient / quieter ?

  5. Do yamaha sell big bikes in Thailand ? If so where is the dealer.

At the motorshow, The kawasaki main agent told me they would start to sell 250cc bikes in August. They had a KLX, KLR and zzr 250 on the stand. all priced around 150K baht on the road.

Anybody any further info on this ?

The Honda guy said they may open a big bike showroom, but had no plans to sell the 250cc bikes here.

  6. Hello MaiChai

The bike is registered in my Uk friends name, the local honda dealer arranged this for him ( he is here on three month multi entry visa ).

I have been living in Thailand for 4 years on 1 year visa / work permits ( I allready have a car and bike registered in my name, but in both cases the dealer / seller took care of the arrangements). I just supplied a copy of every page of my passport and work permit.

Can you get the document for the transport ministry from the web ?

Do you have a name of a reputable registration service ? I was going to ask my local Honda dealer, who service my other Honda if they could help.

  7. I have purchased a motorbike from a friend who lives in Koh Samui, he is about to return to the UK.

The bike is a 3 month old Honda air blade, it is currently registered in Samui and has the green book / license plate etc.

I would like to know if I have to re-register and change the registration to a Bangkok registration plate and if so what documentation is required / what is the process.

    Thanks in advance.

  8. Hello Jimmy

I bought the top of the range 40' Sony bravia LCD 6 months ago.

The LCD is great when playing DVD via HDMI, excellent as a computer monitor but is let down as a TV due to poor UBC. I have had the UBC guy here a few times even tried switching to anologue box but the problem is still there. The worst is watching football !

I have a few friends who have bought plasma and LCD and we all complain about the UBC picture. My point is that the bigger the TV the worse the problem.

If anybody knows how to improve the situation please let me know.

  9. Thanx for the prompt replies.

I would like to copy both the audio and video.

I know it will use a reasonable amount of harddrive space but HD are not so expensive now. I bought a 320gb drive for 4250bt last week.

The other reason for storing on harddrives is that many of my dvd are becoming scratched and damaged.

  10. Now that harddisk drives have reduced again in price.

I would like to store my music dvd collection on my hard drive so i can play them directly without using the DVD disk.

Does anybody know of a good program to use ? Ideally I dont want to lose the quality of the source and would like to keep the dvd menu's ?

  11. Hello Rice King

    Is the location Thonglor ?

I have been living in Thailand for 3 years and just bought under exactly the same circumstances.

I went for the older bigger unit and am very happy with my choice. A few points thou ..

1, Your rennovation budget is very low.. I think you need at least 500 K

2, biggest problems I had was with my building contractor, think long and hard and ask to see their work. Unfortunately their quality standard will be below yours.

3, Give very clear instructions to the builder including drawings.

4, You may find many other units are being renovated in the same building. Can be a pain during the day, If you work office hours it wont affect you.

I was able to buy and put the unit directly in my own name no company or Thai female involved.

    Good luck with your choice..
