Yes, name in Thai from pink card, also they want card number which is on the back of the card.

What is this Pink ID card? The only ID I have is passport, Thai drivers licence, Thai motorcycle license, and housing registration. There is a Thai ID number in the housing registration. But it's a booklet, not a card and so doesn't have any info on the 'other side'

  2. My wife and I are trying to figure out how to register me for the Covid vaccine on the Mor Prom app. We're encountering a problem when entering Thai ID number. I have a Thai ID in the house registration, but the app asks for information on the back of the ID card I don't have. My ID number is in the housing registration book.

Has anyone successfully registered for the Covid Vaccine using the Mor Prom app?

  3. One can only imagine how well off these so called poor farmers would be if they used the resources they continue to waste on these gatherings to help advance their own lives.

The resources used for these rallies do not come from the farmers. These rallies are being paid for by the people who would benefit from a successful outcome. The poor farmers are just taking the money and doing what they are told to do.

  4. Any educational reform won't work until we get rid of the stupid idea that every student passes. At the moment only the very brightest students have any incentive to apply themselves to their work. Most students at my school have no intention of trying harder because they all know they will pass, no matter what they do. Without the risk of failure and repeating a year, students will never try harder.

  5. Clueless about the passenger bit though.... However, in Texas which has the 'open container' law, if a car is pulled over and open booze bottle or can is found, both driver AND imbibing passenger get citations. Maybe that's their ultimate plan here? Targeting public intoxication maybe?

Don't know if it has been said yet, but the open container law would be so that the driver can't just hand his beer to the passenger while they drive past the police. But there really is no need for that. All you have to do breath test the driver.

  6. "that of one million pregnancies in Thailand each year, 80,000 are illegally terminated"

Beats me how anyone knows the real numbers

A study showed that 78% of statistics are made up to fit the storyline.

PS: I made up that number. It was really 47%

Realistly, a sad situation. But the numbers quoted are weird. Was this a national underground clearing house with a furnace, if so many in such a short time that the furnace was not operational. Or was it a no money to buy fuel situation.

    RIP

Could be that the person in charge of buying fuel for the crematorium instead pocketed the money and stored the bodies thinking no one would notice.

I am sure there will be more come to light as this goes on.

  7. This happens, to various degrees, all the time at the school where I work. I have a policy of barring assisting Thai teachers from my classroom if they insist on using corporal punishment.

One particular incident I remember was early morning during assembly a teacher hit two students with his open hand to the face. It was hard enough for the students to stumble and almost fall. I was the only person to do anything about this. I approached this teacher and told him he shouldn't hit students. He didn't really like being told he shouldn't hit people.

After this I got in trouble and had to apologize to this teacher and nothing happened to him.

  8. It would have been advantageous for the government if there was no bomb. With no bomb the government could have eventually lifted the emergency decree. This would show how well they are doing and prove PT wrong. Now that the bombing has happened people are once again pointing the finger at the government, red shirts, Mr T, or any other mysterious group which suits their agenda. Society and the web are again divided, blaming each other.

This bombing in no way is beneficial to the government, but is a great help to PT and Mr T. Anything that is bad for the government is good for PT and Mr T.

  9. I am an English teacher at an Islamic school in Bangkok. I agree with some of the points made here and some I do not. My school, being an Islamic school, might be a bit removed from the average Thai secondary school. But it is still a public school. All of the Thai English teachers I work with are able to speak English, some very well. Some of the Thai English teachers have had the opportunity to travel in the USA and are able to function in an English speaking country.

However, their idea of classroom control and methods of teaching English are pathetic. This is not all the teachers at my school, but many of them. Two of my pet annoyances are teaching English without speaking any English and no one can fail.

As for this exam the teachers have fail, I think it was designed to fail teachers. This way the problems of the education system are brought out into the open. When the government makes big changes in the education system they can point to the results of this exam and say it is a necessity.

  10. If these weapons belonged to the red shirts why were there not more soldiers killed when they cleared the protest area?

If the men in black opened up on the army when they cleared the area everyone, even the red shirt apologists, would be saying "So they did have weapons!"

But if they didn't open up on the soldiers there would be an army of red shirt apologists ready and waiting to explain away the damming evidence.

  11. While there was a lot of ammunition found there was not enough for the shooters to waste it. The thugs you saw hiding behind tires and shooting fire crackers were not using assault rifles and M79s because they had not been taught how to shoot properly. It would have been considered, by the red shirt leaders, to be a better use of those weapons to only allow them to be used by trained ex-army men in black militants.

  12. Prudent security measure. Those outside after that time should be immediately restrained and detained.

In some ways, this might be a danger time for farangs, the reds are now a deranged mob, and there could be random violence or attacks anywhere.

Hopefully they have not read this forum.

Are you sure they can read?
