  1. Pmax - a BIG Thanks for this advise ! The shop is still there and in full operation. Khun Gai not only speaks perfect English, he knows al lot about Volvo, Ferraris, Benz, BMW and even Corvette ! I've been there with my E46 which had no fan and no air-con at all for the last 4 years and nobody was able to repair it. BMW Phuket just told me "your price is 50,000 - excluding labor", but didn't specify the actual problem with the car, nor did they tell me what kind of spare parts are needed, or job they would do. So I just put the phone down.
For all E46 owners having the same (common) problem for this car type: After visiting many different BMW forums I googled for "Control Device for air conditioning" found it at https://www.amazon.co.uk/febi-bilstein-31966-control-conditioning/dp/B006DHY2Z8 or if you're around in Phuket visit Khun Gai directly. They went straight to the culprit, ordered the part and fixed it at a very reasonable price the very next day ! Pmax - again THANKS - You've made my day !

  2. Hi,

making Ham ..... my advice would be .. don't // the reasons are simple, it takes more than just curing and than boiling to make a ham that is anywhere near a good commercially produced ham -

Boiled ham is made in a "wet" cure or brine made up of salt - sugar - and nitrite (NOT saltpeter) and Erythorbate (Erythorbate is required today by the FDA to avoide the development of "Nitrosamines" during digesting and makes Nitrite even safer) - Nitrite, if used in the correct measurements is totally harmless and you eat it every day, especially if you live healthy and eat lots of greens - but it is a highly toxic poison when used incorrectly - etc. ....

Very interesting and useful article! Thanks for that.

During my restaurant "careers" of some 3 years I was used to cure pork legs to produce the German "Eisbein" with great success. However, that's long ago and I forgot the receipt for the pickling salt. As I remember it was something like 0.5 to 1% of Nitrite to be mixed with salt and a bit of sugar ? AND also Erythorbate ? (new to me...)

Do you, or does anyone know the exact mixture of all ingredients to - let's say - make some 10 ltrs. of pickle ? And where to get Nitrite and Erythorbate ? Any advise is very much appreciated. Thanks.

  3. well, the topic is from 2007...

ShareTV is a paid service (monthly subscription) to receive german-language TV in Thailand. Servers are located in Thailand hence streaming actually works where other international streaming TV services mostly fail due to the bad international bandwith in Thailand. Any 2MBit package should work for that reason.

    welo

I have used Share-TV for some 4 months now, with best quality and streaming picture, using Maxnet Premium connection. However, since some 2 weeks now the picture quality is absolutely bad. It's building up "blocks / suares" all over the monitor, making e.g. a football player's number unreadable. Very disturbing ! The symptom appears on my desktop only ! Even after replacing the VGA card to ASUS EN8400 GS, DDR2 256 MB, updating to the latest Share-TV program version, latest ffdshow and installing latest codecs pack etc.etc. - On my laptop however, with no change at all - no problem ! Does anyone have any clue what else to do ? Any hint highly appreciated. Thanks.
