  1. Even 12k is high for that far out ....

But I am not in a noisy dump in the centre :D

thanks for your expert advice , i will pass it on to the groups of japanese and korean golfers that come here in there hundreds , year in year out, :D

You are most welcome :D I guess the Japanese and Korean golfers aren't renting from you at those prices :D

that's right , they pay a bit more , as they get transport to and from the golf courses in the deal, they like the place so much the have had there own restaurant built on some land next to the complex , opening soon, if you fancy a korean night out let me know , :o

  2. It wouldn't take double digit IR's now. With the debt mountain as it is, it would only take say 6% to have a drastic effect.

Of course Brown wants inflation. He thinks it will fill the hole. Trouble is Britain has a growing grey population dependent on their savings. Pensions will not keep up with inflation either.

IMO, the only way to start to fill the hole is reduce corporation tax to zero, reduce employer's NI contribution to zero and get rid of all the BS regulation, get government out of the way of real wealth producers and let's get back to doing real things.

New Labour have been the worst possible government this country has ever had.

Brown does not care. He just wants to be re-elected.

Reduce taxation.... you have to be kidding, that is against Labour's religion.

Reduce NI contributions.... NI is another Ponzi scheme, you can't stop this otherwise the pensioners will be hanging out tea bags so they get three cuppas from a single bag.

And look at this for where a few cuts can be made, but won't because Brown needs the votes

Get that about this place Castle Morpeth, no idea what or where it is, but 57% of the employed are state employees!!!! That means the burden of one of them is being carried by a single private sector employee. This cannot continue. Unbelievable. The national average is about 25%, all with "jobs and pension for life". So everybody in a "real" job is supporting 1/3 of a state employee. With private firms letting off employees left right and centre this burden is going to strangle the whole economy. And again, the only way out is to let inflation rip and not pass on the full rate to state salaries and pensions, effectively cutting them.

great post IMO , England needs to start making things to sell again , there's to much government , in all walks of life ,

  3. you are asking for 20k that far out? WOW!

some people like to be out of the noise , pollution , but still close enough to get in and out of the centre ,

to live in a clean environment,

the 20k is for a one month stay , cheaper and IMO much better then staying in a hotel , you get free room cleaning and clean sheets and bath towels every 3 days ,

but if you are desperate to be near the centre of town ,then this is not for you sorry

have seen some right dirty small noisy dumps in the centre , but ha its near the action right,

It's a bit hard without telling us the built up area in square meters.

would like 4 bedrooms 2 bathrooms upstairs

downstairs 2 reception rooms bathroom kitchen , double garage

Can you be a little more specific please.

  6. the swap? or the lpg converison.

the swap was done before i bought the car , the LPG was done after , at a cost of 48,000 , 6 months ago , its a system from Italy , direct injection to each cylinder , fuel pump , ECU , 75 litre fuel tank ,

i was amazed at the price of cars in Thailand , so i wanted as much bang for my buck as i could get , and safety was a big concern,

this car fitted the bill for me ,

ps just got back from bangna-trad rd , where they have all the second hand engines and parts , wow its like a small town full of car shops selling anything and everything , my engine is the 2jz gte twin turbo , and not so readily available , so i was interested to see how much i could buy one for , if in the future , i needed to replace it ,

one shop that had many 1jz engines out side , said they could do a complete transplant on any car for a 1jz for about 30,000 baht ,

for a 2jz gte about 55,000 baht , very good price IMO ,

I will be going down there again , as i love looking about those places for bits a bobs,

are you using toyota engine on benz body?

how much did you pay to swap your engine?

    sorry for delay

i bought the car with the conversion , gos like a rocket ,

there are many many people converting any car you would like to use,

i know of some garages that will do it for you

    thanks.

  8. Where can I get a good breakfast Sukhumvit area?

Unfortunately, you can't really get a good breakfast in Thailand. Well, at least you can't get a good breakfast at any place that calls miniature hot-dogs "pork sausages" or serves ham sandwich meat as grilled ham. If you know of a place with good breakfast sausages, I would love to know. Whenever I visit Thailand, it's the breakfast sausages that I miss most. This is very odd since I don't eat breakfast sausages here in the States very much at all.

Another issue that comes up frequently is trying to get a egg properly fried "over medium". The standard fried egg seems to be sunny-side up. And if you ask them to cook both sides, they simply take a sunny-side-up egg and flip it, thus over cooking the entire thing. My wife has taught me to say "Kai kow suk, kai dang, mai suk". Which kind of works, but still doesn't leave enough yoke for two slices of browned (not white!) toast to soak up.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Grande Sukhumvit by Sofitel on Soi 6. They had a nice breakfast, but over priced at 600 baht or so. Fortunately our booking included breakfast. Even this overpriced place had mini-hot dogs and ham sandwich meat and I had to tell the cooks at the omelet station not to simply take a pre-cooked sunny-side-up egg and re-cook the other side.

Years ago, I was quite surprised to discover that the Dynasty Inn on Soi 4 knew how to cook eggs "over medium". As I was describing how I wanted my eggs, when the waitress simply said "You want over medium?" So far that's the only place I've found that truly knew how to cook eggs over medium. But the rest of the breakfast was about the same as anywhere else.

    Dave.

hi Dave , i had the same problem , so i brought my own sausage machine with me to Thailand , with the skins and flavorings

now i live here , but if we do go to a hotel , i take my own sausages for them to cook for me :o

  9. Gerry Anderson's wife designed the fashion for that and other Anderson projects. The purple wigs were part of the Moonbase uniform, and removed when on Earth as per [nerd] the episode Computer Affair [/nerd].

Yes, the picture is an Eagle transport ship from Space 1999.

The other clothing from UFO that deserves a mention is the large holed string vests on the submarine crew, with the flesh tone tops the women wore was a welcome aspect for teenage male viewers.

If I could just mention another favorite, that might edge from the top ten to the top five at times, Blakes 7. [nerd] At a convention many years ago, Jacqueline Pearce (Servalan) said that it was nice to have been a masterbatory fantasy for much of the UK's teenage male population for the duration of the series [/nerd]. Sigh...

love the info , gerry anderson ,now theres a man who was a head of his time, just think what he could have done with some real money behind him,

  10. me and family went to ocean world , when it first opened, they charged full price for our children, i was not to pleased , and will never go back ,

looked like a very bad copy of the ones i have seen else where in the world , not value for money , simple as that

  11. hi all , i live in a condo complex on the out skirts of Bangkok , lam lu ka rd , 15 km from old airport and 30km from the new one , here if someone does not pay the maintenance charge , 15000 baht a year , the board will first put a interest charge on the bill , which i think is law now , then after some time if they still do not pay , they apply to the court to re-po the condo , it is then sold , where the maintenance charges court costs are taken out of the money , whats left is passed on to the old owner ,

If the CJP manager or other co-owners (in a meeting) have any b#lls they would invoke the new 2008 Condo Act (Section 18/1) and charge 20% annual interest on any outstanding sums over 6 months old AND suspend the defaulter's "use of common services and common property" which includes lifts/elevators, hallways, etc. ..... no need to get a court order to implement this....but how it works in practice? who knows....

and also start posting up past due notices....

thats the new law , but we only charge 12%

  12. hi all , i live in a condo complex on the out skirts of Bangkok , lam lu ka rd , 15 km from old airport and 30km from the new one , here if someone does not pay the maintenance charge , 15000 baht a year , the board will first put a interest charge on the bill , which i think is law now , then after some time if they still do not pay , they apply to the court to re-po the condo , it is then sold , where the maintenance charges court costs are taken out of the money , whats left is passed on to the old owner ,

we have over 10,000,000 baht now in the fund , to keep the place looking good,

the complex is coming up to 10 years old now , and there are 4 blocks of 11 stories 250 condos in all

swimming pool , tennis courts and gym , and nice gardens

pauls I have first hand experience of seeing just how the judicial system works in this country

regarding real estate issues. Getting judgment is one thing ( and even then

judges can be " bought " - I accompanied a friend of mine in

a case where it was farang versus Thai and the judge was definitely " bought "

by the Thai -no doubt because of the result and the remarks made

but thats another story :D ). But then comes the

part of enforcement-things here can be dragged on

indefinitely and what if one rogue owner owns many units

in the ame building? .................... but I hope your fellow owners in your building are never in that situation :o

But the bottom line is as owners you shouldn't have to go to court anyway with all the uncertainties

and extra costs the owners must bear in legal fees by undertaking this kind of litigation

if they had a properly thought out condominium legal system in the first place

thanks for your post , understand , courts i hate them

  13. here if someone does not pay the maintenance charge , 15000 baht a year , the board will first put a interest charge on the bill , which i think is law now , then after some time if they still do not pay , they apply to the court to re-po the condo , it is then sold , where the maintenance charges court costs are taken out of the money , whats left is passed on to the old owner

That is exactly that has not happened in my post. Body corporate has taken him to courts.

The guy is laughing, nobody can do anything to him. It's been like that for several years, his condos are still rented, generating him income and he is not paying anything to anyone.

    hi

are you saying that the courts would not repo the condos?

  14. [

And there are many stories like your in condo bulidings all around Bangkok.

Yes paying levies is one thing which is worrying - but what about

trying to get people to cough up for expenditure for MAJOR works. ?

hi all , i live in a condo complex on the out skirts of Bangkok , lam lu ka rd , 15 km from old airport and 30km from the new one , here if someone does not pay the maintenance charge , 15000 baht a year , the board will first put a interest charge on the bill , which i think is law now , then after some time if they still do not pay , they apply to the court to re-po the condo , it is then sold , where the maintenance charges court costs are taken out of the money , whats left is passed on to the old owner ,

  15. i came prepared this time brought a sausage machine with the skins to make my own , proper english sausage cost me about 5baht to make, seen some in places like food land , work out to be about 20 baht each , bread maker , o yes make my own bacon too,

i try and not eat out to often as my tummy cannot handle sweety things or to much spice.

  16. this is a military coup disguised as a civilian coup. the only interesting question is why? what can be happening to thai power dynamics to justify this. one can only wonder.

It doesn't seem like the military is interested in taking over power again.

This is a battle about the shape of the future of Thailand.

In one corner you have the team battling for continued the Thai traditional corrupted democracy.

In the other corner you have the team battling for a return to a moralistic society under a monarchy similar to the one in Europe 400 years ago.

    Just pick what your side!

great post . agree with you
