You currently have an extension of stay until April 16th 2024.
Your current passport expires March 6th 2025.

Submit your extension application as normal in 2024 using existing passport.
You will however only be given permission of stay until March 6, 2025, that being the expiry date of your current passport.

Towards the end of 2024 apply for a new passport.
When you receive the new passport, take it to Immigration, and they will transfer stamps from your old passport to the new.
Your permission of stay is not affected, and you'll receive a new stamp in your new passport still permitting you to stay until March 6th 2025.

    This really is a no-brainer.
If you replace your passport now, you're losing over 11 months of a perfectly valid passport, as opposed to doing your extension in 2024 as normal and lose only 5 weeks permission of stay.

Your annual extension application date will change to March 6 for future years.

This is good and correct information, if you don't mind your new extension renewal date being March 6 from now on....

Thanks Kilt. Since you mentioned them, I trust you know and like them?

Yes, years ago I had a termite problem in my condo. They got rid of them and now they come once every three months to check and maintain.

Fortunately, I don't need to have a car wrapped. Or a bike.

I want to get a motorcycle helmet wrapped! We couldn't find a good quality helmet, neither in fiberglass nor carbon fiber in the size or head shape needed for my wife, in any color other than black. And black helmets get hot in the Thai sun... so... the plan is to get the helmet wrapped in white or silver. I don't know how long it will last, but as it shouldn't be very expensive to use less than a square meter of wrapping, getting it re-done every 2-3 years wouldn't be a problem.

Wrap Monster also wrap helmets. I have a few friends who have done this. You don't have to settle for just white... they can print any pattern or photo on the vinyl as well.

  4. I mostly wanted to know if the med certificate was still required. I stopped at Klaimor Hospital and got one anyway. 200 baht / 15 minutes. Original and a copy was accepted at DLT. I watched the training video online a couple of days before heading out to get my 2 drivers licenses and that saved me a lot of time. In and out with the new licenses in about 1 hour.

Any time foreign media is involved, officials become very nervous. They will not want to do anything without guidance from headquarters. The published rules on extensions suggest that you are fine with any Non Immigrant entry. However, that does not apply in practice with an entry on a Non M visa.

Makes sense... this person will be working on a TV series in the accounting department.

Apparently the M visa covers all things TV and movies.

Info for the non-m visa is here on the MFA website. https://www.mfa.go.th/en/page/information-for-foreign-press?menu=5f227e672a1f733b7f6f9d2a

It appears you will have to apply for the extension online there.

Thank you. All that info is for extending the visa for working purposes. Once this gig is finished the person wants to retire in Thailand. So looking for a 1 year extension based on retirement. Immigration officials and even visa agents seem to freeze up like deer in the headlights at the mention of that ???? They just don't know...

My only impetus for getting vaccinated quickly is for easier future travel. Otherwise I can take it or leave it.

Vaccine discrimination has begun, so even the vaccines available here may not make future travel easier:

  8. I guess I'm the odd man out because I have had batteries replaced in iPhones several times and have never had a bad experience. The phone kiosks in Central Festival. Find one who does the repairs themselves (easy to spot). It's a ten minute job. The batteries they install have always been just fine for me.
