What Thailand needs to do is to improve the way it takes care of it's guests if it wants to encourage the 'better class' of tourist. It takes more than a heavily made up smile I'm afraid.

A good start would be not killing the Farang tourists on their roads, biking, motoring, walking, swimming in oil, pushed off balconies and singing on stage too long in bars in Krabi would be a good start.

Tragic outcome - when people behave like annoying , aggressive jerks ( ie by not getting off a stage), you have to figure that eventually they will get pay back ( but nonetheless, death is too much!)

Perhaps you didn't read carefully: according to the story, the Americans were not injured in the act of removing them from the stage. The fact that they allegedly refused to leave the stage apparently led in part to an eventual fight in which the injury and killing took place.

I guess that justifies killing an American tourist and beating his son in front of him. I read it just fine and it still disgusts me that a Faralang having a good time singing and maybe getting out of hand by not leaving the stage, deserved to be killed outside the bar by Thai musician standards. Is this the Thainess that the PM is promoting? Bet you also punishment or jail time is not given to the killers and they will still be singing in the band in Krabi waiting for the next Farang to piss them off.

Using these numbers then a 15 square kilometres slick at 2mm thick would be some 30,000 cubic metres which is some 30,000,000 litres. Quiet a difference from the supposed 50,000 litres spilled claim

If however oil was only 1mm and only dispersed over 30% of the area in balck.. i.e oil doesnt cover the entire area then the magnitude of the spill would be 4500 cubic metres or 4,500,000 litres .

From size of spill it might appeaer that PTT are being economical with truth as to number of litres that actually escaped.

I have an idea. Why not have the tourist's contact the local embassy when they are forced to hand over their passport in exchange for rentals? It is property of that individual and their country. Let the embassy official put pressure on the Thai government to show them it is illegal and offer consequences. Wait this is Thailand we are talking about I almost forgot. Dealing with their government is totally useless and will cause further chaos and confusion and lead to basically nothing in the end except smiles.

Apparently, it's a modification of his untested plan to push flood waters out of Bangkok.

I have been to these shows and there have been more accidents just search on youtube. These guys work for peanuts and probably no workman's compensation for accidents in their profession. I guess they are not the brightest of the bunch if this is all they can do to make money for their family.
