  1. Not sure which forum to ask this so I am putting it here as well.

I recently bought a farm in Thailand, I put it in my wife's name. I have since built a house and sheds and improved the land. I have a smaller partner in the venture.
I was thing of making a lifelong usufruct agreement for nil consideration on the property to protect our interests but believe that it can be cancelled upon divorce affording no protection.
Is it true that the usufruct cannot be cancelled by my wife in the case of divorce if a third party is mentioned in the agreement. If so how would I word that clause to include the interests of my partner?
    Thanking you in advance.

  2. Is there any hypnotherapist in Pattaya ?

Is there an English Native speaker hypnotherapist in Pattaya ?

I am also based in Pattya and would like some referral for hypnotherapy if anyone knows one.

    Cheers

  3. 32 baht at auction - ouch. Round here people were getting 72 baht for sheet this week - double ouch.

We just got 29 for kee yang from the local buyer. Awful.

    By the way:

Does anyone know whether it is legal for a Thai company to own farming land? I was under the impression that it was OK for chanote land but not for Por Tor Bor 5, Nor Sor Sam etc where it has to be in the name of a Thai national, but would like to know definitively. Thanks to anyone that can help.

  4. Thanks for the info Tapping! I'd really like to try something like these because for the past 2 years, the output has been affected by the rain way too often.

You're welcome Scotbeve, they send samples free to try with english manuals. if you are Thai speaking or else your family can contact them directly on facebook just search Tapping Shade and you'll find their page, if not you can pm me for help. Cheers

Cheers again, yep, found the site no probs and sent the info off to our manager for his perusal.

Just curious as to how much these are because I noticed other products from India and maybe elsewhere for rain protection.

  5. Hi there to all you rubber farmers.

Maybe you guys could help us out with a problem with our trees?

Our trees are in their forth year now and we are still total novices,in fact most of the rubber farmers are also new to the rubber game.I think that the eldest tree in our area is only 10 years old.

Thursday when talking with the Missus she said that she had been up to the farm and noticed that there was something wrong with the trees.I asked her if she could send me some photos (I'm working overseas)

    attachicon.gif1.jpgattachicon.gif2.jpgattachicon.gif3.jpgattachicon.gif4.jpg

    attachicon.gif5.jpgattachicon.gif6.jpgattachicon.gifyellow spot.jpg

I am not sure if you can make out from the photos but the leaves seem very withered and some have yellow pots on them.

The trees were given fertilizer 8 weeks ago and plowed to remove as much weed as possible, since then there has been quite some heavy down pours.

What is causing this and do any of you know how to cure it?

I apologise if this subject has already been covered.

Many thanks for taking the time to read this and thank you in advance for any suggestions.

    Kind regards

    Shaggy

P.s outstanding work with this thread

I am no expert but you have to remember that the roots go out as far as the canopy. It could be possible you have plowed up a lot of the finer roots which take in most of the water and nutrients. with a lot of rain this could have caused some form of mould or root rot. You may have also burnt the cut roots with raw fertilizer. have a word to the guys where you buy the fertilizer and then try another shop for confirmation. They may be able to help.

    Cheers

  6. If they apply the same rules about land title to rubber like they did rice. ie Chanote. That's going to leave a lot of folk ticked off.

I personally won't mind the chanote rules. ALL our land has proper chanotes (took MANY years to get them all...).

IMHO If they do give anything at all AND apply similar rules to chanote and nor sor sam, the farmers in Issan will mostly get nothing as 90% of the farming land is PTB5 or sor por gor. The people that need it the most will get nothing and those rich enough to have titles will get what little is left after "administration costs". The only long term solution is to develop markets that increase global demand for natural rubber. Should be embedding carpet tacks in all the roads in the highly developed countries.

  7. I have attached a report released in Oct 2012, that explains how the Thai Public debt is managed. It doesn't not deal with the rubber industry in detail but refers to the budget allowance. Thailand funds almost all of its debt from the domestic market, including the rice pledging scheme. Well worth a read, perhaps should be moved somewhere more appropriate.

I read that they pledged 30 billion baht last month but already down to 20.

  8. The gov yesterday were talking around 110 baht for RSS and 60 baht for kee yang. Confirmation coming today.

I cant see how that is possible when they have big stockpiles already and the wold prices for RSS is only in the 80's.

More likely to get some assistance with farming loans, cheaper fertilizer etc.

    Only my guess.

    Greg

If the Government funded fertiliser etc. the money would be spent. By buying the rubber it remains an asset valued at whatever they pay. The expenditure is internal and unless they sell in the future for less than purchase, the asset is basically liquidated with the sale. Much the same as a Government Bond. The rub comes if they use foreign loan monies. Then to balance the books they will have to achieve the interest coverage as well. It is a gamble on the futures market. Tyre manufacturers have very large investments here and the Government must try to hold the material availability and capacity.

Increasing investments in vehicle manufacturing capacity also supports the need to keep the rubber farmers in the game.

Well IMHO that is the game.

An added thought. The very large companies are the largest tax revenue generators. Vehicles are currently manufactured for domestic and export markets with the future looking like the percentage moving from 50/50 to a larger component of exports. That is foreign revenue.

Some very valid points there. I believe there was some talk about promoting Thai business which use rubber. Probably give 90% of it to the car and tyre manufacturers. Again just a touch of cynicism.

  10. Cup rubber today's action was 40.5 baht per kilo.

First sale of the year was 37, then 39 and then now this price, if it keeps up this trend for a couple of years we'll be back on the gravey train again

We only got 36 baht for cup a couple of days ago. What is this about airless tapping? I must of missed something.

There where a discussion of this Equipment in march 2012, buy that was all. I did some small experiments before. I used addhesive aluminum tape to protect the cut from wind, air and sun. My idea was that the tree should bleed for maybee 12 hours insted of normal 5-6 hours. Whife explained for me all about ting-tong falangs with ting-tong ideas. Guess who was righ? But my filosofy is been ther tried that, but bad idea. Next one........

    Anyone knows something more?

    Sonny

    Thanks Sonny

    Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

  12. Ok.if u will b running pumps to water 4000 trees this will cost u..If you pay for any day they dont tap.I can guarantee you will make a loss.Forget it dont start. They didnt offer to work for you for 60% for you and 40% for them because they know 500 bart per day is much better for them.So this meens you are going to be making much less than 60% . Also you will have days when it may rain and they only tap half or a third of the trees.Sometimes rain will wash it all away. Not there problem they still get paid. This is all your loss. If theft is a problem in your area .Dont start if you are not going to be there. Remember Im trying to help u not abuse you and good luck. Thnx cobbler. Not pumping water for these trees, just for us. Wish I knew of an area in LOS where theft isn't a problem. Can always run with the 40/60 scenario. At your leisure, do you know what they are getting for fresh in your area?

    Cheers

  13. You need to take an average throughout the whole season.remember beginning and end of year r less flow.He is not offering u thiss price because its good for u but because its good for him.If the time comes its not good for him he will ask for more. Also Who is paying for fertilizer? If the rate of share was 60% 40%for the worker then pui fertilizer is also shared at same rate.Worker pays 40% of that.

    Be very carefull.Thais are smart

    Good luck with it

I am paying for all the costs - fertilizer, fuel etc. Not sure whether that 500b a day is only for the days they are tapping (ie 20 out of 30 days hopefully) or all month. Talking with him and the missus' mum we were thinking that we should find them somewhere nearby to live. Not on the farm as we are worried about them stealing the yang. Her younger brother can stay a lot of the time and we will be up there a third of the time to watch over it. Have to build a strong lockup for the pumps, generator etc as well as the last pump and all the fertilizer was stolen from our other farm when no-one was there. Big bolts and chains into the concrete as well I think!

  14. This is for sheet..Tread carefully in this time.If you are in a lower rainfall area and prices are low .You may not be able to keep workers as not enough for them to survive on.

The farm is in Loei so no worries with rain. The brother in law reckons he has got experienced tappers that will work for a flat rate of 500b a night. around 4000 trees so I figure 5 people tapping; him, his wife and 3 others. Planning on paying him around 20-25,000 a month to take care and look after it. I was looking at making sheet but it didn't seem to be worth it considering what we were getting for fresh yang. Mind you that was late last year. Any thoughts?
