  1. Does anyone perhaps have any information as to where I might be able to find a supplier / manufacturer of outdoor roller blinds or awnings in Bangkok? I see these blinds/awnings all over the place, but so far have been unable to find anyone who can tell me where they bought them. I'm looking for something that I can roll down when needed to help keep the rain out. I'd appreciate any advice!

    Cheers!

  2. Makro sell a local version of fishfingers. They're much cheaper than the imported variety, but my daughter says they're not as nice as the imported ones from Villa. :(

I've not found the Heinz baked beans at Makro, though. Any idea at which branch of Makro they were available?

  3. Thanks a lot for the nice comments! (I'm actually the owner of Humble's). Glad to hear you enjoyed your visit. (Feel free to PM me for more details...)

Do you have a website for your establishment?

HI! Yes, (I have a FB page I use). I don't think I'm allowed to post the link here, but will PM you the details.Cheers!

  4. I found this little Oasis called ' Humble's Bar & Restaurant ' in the Baan Saran Nuch apartment building. Just inside Sukhumvit Soi 75/1, close by the famous OnNut fresh food market , 3min from Carrefour. A great place to eat and have a cold drink. Extensive & inexpensive menu international & Thai food. Very well managed by a foreigner with excellent taste of music....HAPPY I found this place.

  8. Two piers one with parking and one without.

I know people who've just parked at Krom Luang Pier, the one closest to Laem Ngop, where Panan and Leelawadee Speedboats depart from. There's a tour agency / shop / restaurant directly opposite the pier and they'll look after your car for a small fee.

But if you are going from Laem Sok, on Siriwhite or CP Speedboat, then that's a different matter, can park at the pier - but there's nothing there, just a pier and Laem Ngop or Trat are both over 20km away.

    Thanks, Changian!

I guess I'll be going from Krom Luang pier because I've read that the Laem Sok pier is closed from June to October.

    Thanks for the information!

  10. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations as to where might be good to go for an Easter Sunday Brunch? In particular; looking for a place that has a good selection of food and doesn't skimp on the wine! Any recommendations most gratefully accepted!

    Cheers!

  11. Been reading the posts - thanks for all the recommendations. Here's my 2p worth:

Tried the Londoner 10 mins before the City v Utd match last weekend. No atmosphere at all! Just customers sitting down having dinner... Thought "sod it" and went back to a place I'd seen on the way there called "The Penalty Spot". "Great", I thought! Big football sign outside - got to be a proper sports bar, right? Wrong! Ended up upstairs straining to hear the commentary over the thumping music coming from a bloke with a glorified karaoke machine and a guitar giving it stacks downstairs. The manager was nice enough, but explained that he didn't "have the technology to put the football commentary through the speakers", so ended up trying to hear the sound off the tiinny telly speakers. Not too impressive. If I'd wanted that, I could have stayed home! Also, just FYI, the menus say Bht130 for a Heineken bottle, but the bill said 140. Pointed it out and was told "The menu's wrong"! )I know, but "It's nae the principle, it's the money!") Anyway, why open a football themed pub, call it the "Penalty Spot", and then not have the football commentary on? Great business plan that...

Reckon I'll give Soi 8 a go. Have been there for the rugby, but not for the football. If the games clash, I expect the rugby takes priority?

This weekend I watched the game at a pub in the northern suburbs. A place called "The Breeze" down Chaengwattana Soi 26. Nice place, but hardly ever anyone in, unfortunatley.

Any other recommendations as to where to try?

    Cheers!

  12. Derby Day!

Hi, can anyone suggest a good pub to watch the City v Utd match on Sunday? I've not been in Bangkok long, so would appreciate any advice as to where a Blue could watch the match. (Preferably in the company of some other City fans!)

Also, does anyone know whether the Man City Store that was opened in Bangkok is still open? (It's supposed to have been located in the Shinawatra Tower 3). Any ideas?

    Cheers!

    Mike

    Hi,

I'm a Blue myself and I managed to convert an American not only to football but to Man City! We're watching it the Londoner. One thing you'll find is that we City fans are out numbered. Most of my mates are Mancunian reds, so it's all the sweeter when we win...I can't say that we've lost since I've been living in Thailand...not as I remember anyway.

Gulliver's has lots of screens (Shukumwit Soi 5) but I don't go in there anymore. It can get a bit aggressive sometimes and the manager is a pillock. There's the Penalty Spot near Soi 33 too. I haven't watched the game there but it is a footie bar and has lots of screens.

Cheers, thanks for the information! I'll give the Londoner a go tonight. (I'll be the bloke in the retro 1968 City top!)

    Come on City!!!

    Cheers,

    Mike

  14. Hi!

Does anyone happen to know of anyplace in Bangkok that may be able to repair my Fender Bassman '59 tube guitar amp? I have the spares I think I need, but need someone to carry out the repair work.

    I'd really appreciate any suggestions!

    Cheers,

    Mike
