  1. Unless the government decides to make changes from the top all this crap will continue it is very clear that the mafia control the police and the government , no one will take a stand because the moment they do they will probably be shot.

The Hub of Corruption will continue for a long time yet.

  2. He will use his human rights will be violated excuse if he goes back to thailand.

British police suspect Crawford of beating Ryan to death and using his credit card to withdraw 6,500 pounds (10,300 dollars) before fleeing to Thailand.

I don't get it. It was only some pocket money that Ryan had to die for? To be honest, Crawford should be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

Again another problem between Thais and us foreigners. Way too many weird people fleeing to Thailand to do weird things. Wonder if it will stop one time? Don't think so.

Without being racist: Why do always Brits have the most problems, accidents, fights and so on.......

I remember not too long ago, Thailand being the deadliest country for Brits. How comes?

Others can do a lot to have something which is called reputation, but people like this guy are doing all that most of them already hate us. That's the truth, even people in the Lower North-east.

Nobody wants to read or hear any more bullshit made by foreigners, how sad for those who never made something wrong here. Is it possible that too many British criminals are heading to Thailand?

Sorry, but I've met too many of them being in jail for murderer, drugs and all that shit back home. Dear Admins, it's just a fact that too many Brits are causing serious problems. But why?

Sadly, it's in our nature to behave like this. Any town centre in the UK on a Saturday night is, statistically, actually quite dangerous in terms of unwarranted serious violence. A bizarre example is that 10% of our prison population is ex-army! Why? I don't know, you'd think that they'd be the last lot to end up in the Nick, but it's a very indicative statistic of what our society has become - unlike the French, Dutch, Irish, Italians, Aussie's, we have simply lost our pride in who we are and, quite understandably, people are bloody cautious of us. Other Europeans actually shy away from bars where it's obvious that Brits are drinking because there're actually a bit scared. Contrary to popular belief, the French quite like the Brits and a group of French lads won't have any problems getting laid in London and they know it, but they won't come for a weekend breaks because they're worried that one of them will get a bottle over his head in a nightclub simply for chatting our girls up.

Even more Bullshi* !! Wake Up and shut up , unless you know what your talking about to be fact. No need to spout off just for the hel_l of it. Us Brits are NOT like that.

Yes there are some scum bags but don’t tar all British with the same brush, don’t forget if it wasn’t for the British most of civilized world would be speaking German……..People have short memories…………..I am British and PROUD of it.

  3. THIS IS THAILAND. Don't like, then go home.

Agree 100%, to many people bitch about Thailand, life style, people, and anything there sad lifes can think about....................dont like it then go back to the hole you came from and leave us happy people in peace.:jap:

  4. Can't deny there is a problem with road safty in Thailand. calling for higer punishemtn is not going to work. If they want to decrease the number of casualties nothing will work better than strictly enforcing the rules. The best deterrent against crimes is and will always be a high risk of getting caught.

    I completly agree

The percentage of riders with no helmets is much higher than 46% in Chiangmai I would guess though, from casual observation.

And when many are working for 100 baht 150 baht a day, fines can never work. which is why i suppose it can't get enforced. Culicine mentioned fines

maybe enforcing more violations and giving more warnings would be a more effective deterrent.

community service??? or would that become a loss of face issue. ?

i know there are cases in china where illegal hawkers have their wares and bicycle confiscated and they end up having to walk quite a distance to reclaim( not traffic violation related but indicative of a method of law enforcement)

When I was in Vietnam riders wore helmets all the time, if your caught without helmet or no documents then bike your is loaded onto police wagon and taken away not chance to pay on the spot fine. If you want bike back costs money also time to collect so this method seems to work as you see rider with helmets on, shopping, in cafes, or even just walking down the road.

  5. A good gas BBQ grill must be stainless steel grill (or titanium, etc.) and they cost at least 40K baht in Thailand. The cast iron ones will rust out in less than 2 years. Look at Weber (not sold in Thailand) for the best quality and try to get something like that.

    Bank,

I have ordered from here, http://www.gasbbqthailand.com/page/bbq.html

Stainless and the boss is American, and apparantly a bit of a perfectionist.

I bought mine from Doc, great BBQ good service and real nice guy. :)

  6. Guys, just wanna check, I will be going to Khon Kean and staying in my in-law house in Nam Pong, the only place I know for fishing is Sri Nuang in KK city, is there anymore ? because last time I have to travel to Udon for fishing !

    Hi,

I go fishing in KK most days drop me PM with contact number.

  7. I have to agree with everything you mentioned here, even the point of being too lazy to get a Thai License. I have also heard about the 3 month limitation.

It something I'll have to do soon. Although, getting the letter of residence / address from the Embassy, getting the medical etc.. seems like a lot of effort for a drivers license that lasts only one year.

It only last a year for the first year, then 5 years after that.. :D

    Not always.

I've had 3 licences now and all for a year a time :D

I had Thai licences for one year and after for 5 years, seems daft to me any one who wants to ride motorbike/ drive car in Thailand dont make the effort to obtain Thai licence saves lot of trouble. Myself having been stopped a few times by BIB show Thai licence and off I go, never ever paid any tea money........maybe just lucky :)

  8. I can make some good meat and vegetable stews in a ricemaker in thailand but I miss the dumplings. Anyone know where to get the dried suet to make them with in Bangkok? It should be easy for the central tops to import but they dont seem to.

    try this link http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Dumplings/Detail.aspx

I bought slow cooker and make some great stews, mince (beef) liver & onions etc.

This recipe says to use margarine I find it better if you use butter and grate into flour, stick the butter in freezer first.

I have bought packets of suet from Pattaya, Khon Kaen and sell by dates were way out 07 ruined my mince and dumpling so now make my own.

    Good luck. :)

  9. "...the word Farang to be at times offensive perhaps even racist..."

    You have very thin skin.

    Agreed,

Stop and think of all the names you use for immigrants in your own country first, many spring to mind.

OP Nip, now that’s funny........ :):D:D:D

  10. Who wears the trousers in your house ? My Thai wife rules the roost and I dont have any say on the matter , if I do its curtains for me :) What about you and yours ? and why ?

Took long time to find Mrs. Right didn’t know her name was always,

I’m boss and if I want to do the housework before the ironing I do!!!! :D

  11. I saw this on the Thai news today. My Thai is not great but I think they were saying this was the first execution(s) in six years in Thailand.

Yes, it was on December 11th, 2002 I believe, and the book:

The Last Executioner can be thrown in the garbage bin.... :)

    Good link LoaPo :D

Maybe some of you who participate in taking any banned drugs in Thailand should view this link just may make you stop and thing….This is Thailand and the law is there law, don’t cry if you are caught as no one will feel sorry for you.

  12. Yes, thats definately one thing that happens alot in Thailand.

Its kind of like the idiots that try to get into the lift before the people inside it get out.

Pathetic people only concerned for themselves. :)

Same as when your driving they just pull out in front of you or cut in :D no manners at all.... :D or road sence.

Now I do same :D play them at there own game.

  13. As you quoted used drugs while getting in on with local girls, If they report you your in deep s**t :) or maybe demand money not to report you :D either way you loose, be smart stay away from drugs especially in Thailand stick to your beer safer all-round :D .

    Here ya go, my friend.

A tried and true, and flaky, pie crust you can make easily at home.

    ----------------------------------------

    PIE CRUST

    2 Cups flour (all-purpose)

    1/2 tsp. salt

    2/3 Cup shortening

    1/3 Cup ice water

Mix/mash flour, salt and shortening with a fork until the mixture looks crumbly, like small peas.

Add ice water and continue to mix with a fork - when it becomes too stiff for the fork, use your hands to kneed it until uniform.

If it is difficult to work all the flour in, add up to 1 Tb more water (depends on weather - probably not needed in humid Thailand)).

Flour a bread board. Pat out 1/2 of the dough on floured board, and roll out with rolling pin, turning every so often so it doesn't stick to the board. Try to achieve an even thickness of about 1/8".

You are now ready to carefully lift it into pie pan (it should be over-sized for the pan).

This is best done by gently rolling it up, lifting the roll into the pan, and then unrolling it inside the pan.

Trim the edges to fit the pan. Flute the rim if desired.

Recipe makes about 3 crusts -- enough for a 2-crust pie (top and bottom) plus a 1-crust pie (if you roll it thin. I usually have not quite enough for a 3rd pie shell). I usually get two perfect 9" deep-dish pie crusts, plus a little leftover that I can roll out thin, butter the top, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar, and bake a nice and quick little pastry treat (the kids love it).

When making a one-crust pie, be sure to put fork holes in the bottom and sides of the crust before baking.

Bake at 400ºF (205ºC) for approximately 20-25 minutes, or until golden.

    Add filling after baking.

    --------------------------------------------

    Enjoy. :)

NOTE: this was adapted from my grandmother's recipe.

She used 1-cup shortening and 1/4 cup ice water.

Although her crust is delicious and super flaky, I find it a bit heavy with all that shortening.

You can adjust to qtys of water and shortening as desired within these parameters as you like.

    Hi All,

Pies turned out great (corn beef and potatoes) for first attempt. Chefheat recipe and few tips from other TV members helped a great deal.

Sorry no photos yet as having problems uploading for some reason, shall post later.

Thanks again for all your help and advise.

    :D
