  1. Oh -- I have almost forgotten that I have put this thread.

Now, they are totally separated. My friend is still single, enjoying herself. :o

I am sure lovely person like her would find somebody better than that.

Thanks for sharing your stories here. I feel sorry for you all who have to pay / spend money on such a thing. I would be shameful to even ask.

One thing please do keep in mind, all Thai women are not the same.

holland or germany and then walk across the border to your house :-)

Holland is less strict but needs a supporting letter from a dutch citizen.

Zendesigner, I am totally disagree with your idea that Holland would be easier to get a visa. I am currently resident here. More and more they will make it harder for foriener to come in. Belgium embassy is the less strict than all other European embassay in Thailand. You should keep trying there with more document from your side. Trying Holland or Germany will be waste of your time and money.

    Goodluck

  3. Do you love her?

Do you think what important to you; clean floor or the one you love?

I am sure you have your own reason staying with her.

To not being hated by the girl family, I would suggest you to go to see her mom and explain what happened to her by yourself ( maybe you need your fiance to translate) and said sorry you did not want to make her daughter cry. just simple as that, they will welcome you back to their family again.

Thai are jai dee but dont mess with them. :o

As being a mom, she would not like to see someone who make her children cry, no matter what you did was right or wrong, you owes her an apology.

I am sure mom will spank your fiance for you for the dirty floor :D

  4. As far as I know, getting visa to US at Thai embassy is unpredictable.

Showing all type of document is not enough, u need luck.

If you are young girl, just graduated , no matter how rich you are , they wont let you go easily to USA, expecially if you have to interview with Window no.8 or no.4 at the US embassy. Here are some link that people share about their mystery getting visa to USA. ( sorry its in Thai , at least you gf can read it and be prepared )

I am nervous everytime going to renew the USA, eventhough I had 5 years visa and F1 visa plus social security before. Now I have multi-entry till 2008. At least they will leave me alone a couple years.

SBK, those proof of ties( letter from school, bank and property statement ,etc) are sufficient for visa in AUS,UK,EUROPE but not USA . believe me.

    Goodluck

  5. Once I was a representative from my office ( Government agent related to Touristism but not TAT) in the sub- meeting for APEC ( Implidiment on tourism or something .. cannot remember the full name of such a conference ), I mentioned about double pricing for farangs. I was the only one who voted for the same price either Thai or Farang, all the rest voted for double price!

Why? They said that its because those are our national resources, it should be free for Thai or low cost and we should charge farang more like when they charge us more in their countires! :o

In museum world today, more and more museums are no admission, especially in UK, British museum, Tate Galleries, V&A and etc. In USA, Getty centre started this fee museum phenomenon and it works just fine. Those arts and antiquities are a part of civilization in humanity. We as equal human being should have an equal oppotunity to appreciate them.

What a nice philosophy! I love that. :D

  6. That bar in bali is not decent , just gave you an example of how crazy bar can be.

I dont take pills, I dont like the feeling that I have to watch behind my back while I am dancing.

Why dont you accompany Georgie tonight at Bed supperclub right across your street? :o

  7. No, doctor!

Bed bars are very decent bars, full of decent people.

The most crazy bar that i know is the one in Bali ( dont remember what it called -- stadium maybe ) that one has 4 floors and run 24 hours. Basically , you go out on friday nite , take some drink , hit on some girls, take some CANDY and stay up all night long , wake up again , go dance some more , hit on more girls and etc..

Its crazy!! It runs 24 hours and you can sleep there, morever they have a special route for people to escape police! :o

  8. As I am a big bed ( bar) fan, as far as I know bed bar originated in ITALY called as Supperclub http://www.worldsbestbars.com/city/Rome/Supperclub.asp then the second one from the same company opened it in Amsterdam which has been around for quite sometimes.

Last year Supper club in Bangkok was opened, but has nothing to do with the two others mentioned above, only the concept and the look are same. I also heard that in Miami has one too and now is Beijing??

I have been to only bed in BKK and Amsterdam.

Bkk is more fancy ( interm of decoration and design ) but the Amsterdam one is better for music.

Both place has pretty much same crowd, snobbish type and yuppies but Amsterdam is worse ( people just go there and love to been seen, take 3 weeks to make a reservation )

Dont get me wrong, I love bed bars and I am not a yuppie nor snob. Its just fun place to hang out.

    Worth trying Georgie! :o

  9. mr.vietnam

I assumed from the poster that he would be taking care of her when she moves there. In the practical level, you will find that asking money everytime from your partner to buy even a small thing like tampon could be very frustating, that why I suggest to open an account with small money for her private use. you were missing my point.

To live as a couple is about sharing, I agree but at the starting point, you always need some space for your own breath. Imagine from the girl side, she commits herself to move away from home, leave everything behind just because she wants to be with you. Thats tough and lot commitment . In the beginning, she need to feel relaxed and adjust herself to the new enviroment. Then she can find some work and totally become independent in financial aspect. To have her own bank account is just the way to help her mentally (release some tension/frustration while on process of job hunting)

How would you feel when you are in one place that everything you need , you have to depend on somebodyelse while back to where you come from you could be totally on your own and even can support your family ?

  10. Some suggestion from me ( never been married but live far away from home often)

    She might miss :

    1. being independent Far away from home, dont really speak the language, hard to get around in town by herself ( incase you live in countryside and need a car), feel useless ( no job coz cannot work ilgally yet, education does not fits, dont wanna work as waitress either)

    Solution

1 being supportive emotionally and financially.

    - tell her to be patient, everything need time to work out and you take her with you because you love her and wanna do your best to make her happy. Its super girl thing! we like to hear that time to time. Strongly emotion support from partner is a must when you are 10000 mile from home.

    - open her a bank account, put monthly income for her to use ( it can be just so little money like 100-200 ponds, because all other expense you will take care of it anyway. the idea just helps her to feel more independent-- no need to ask for money every time she needs)

    2. Thai food!

At some point she need to cook her own thai food. ( after trying 100 thai restaurants with stupid tatse ) So before leaving thailand, she should know how to cook thai food or start practice some. Once i was in student house which has awful kitchen, i was not able to cook at all for 2 weeks. I suffered alot emotionally. Good food brings happiness indeed! so I moved out a week later. Now I am expert in thai cooking. I can cook full meal for 10 people , no probs. plus cooking is fun :o

    3. Family

I dont know how close she is with her parents and her friends. When I left Thailand to study in USA, I was so close to my mom eventhough i lived on my own before that for several years. Phonecard is so cheap. 10 us dollars phonecard can call thailand home phone for 4 hours at least. I used to call my mom everyday on my lunchbreak, just say hello and tell her what i would be eating for lunch and long converstaion on weekend. So buy her a phonecard, set up internet for her to keep in touch with her family and friends.

I hope my suggestion can be helpful. Wish you the best of luck. :D

  11. Hey,

In krabi, they have a quit big community of expat there, especially in AOW Nang. For small town like that , you can get a very good place to live for 10000 baht. Cost of living is cheap down there also. U might need a motorcycle to get around, so plan a budget on that.

Good luck, krabi is still so beautiful.

  12. Normally I always have big bottle of Panna or Evion at home. After get home so drunk around 2.30 am, take shower and drink at least 2 big glasses of those. Believe it or not ,those water make so much different than normal ones ( when it come to this situation). ( me) Hardly get hang over in the next morning

In the worst case, hot Jusmine tea in the morning and follow up with fresh orange juice :o

  13. Hey newbie,

I would suggest you to give more specific information, so that would be easy for us to provide info.

Have you ever been to Thailand? Any clue where/which city you want to live? bkk/chiang mai/phuket/krabi/Pattaya or others? Cost of living depends much on where you live. Definitely, cost of living in the big city is higher than small ones.

Do you plan to use up 300000 baht in one year? What type of good lifestyle in your definition?

    Give more info then! :o

  14. Is it take that long? by bus takes only 8-10 hours

but by train take 15 hours!!? oh noooooo!! :o

Well I have been to CM by train only once when i was kid.

The scene between Lumpaang to CM was so beautiful, might have been changed alot by now.

Dont really recommend going there by train,

its not comfortable and take too long.

    Is spinter still excited?
