  1. I live close to Pattaya and I had some issues with TOT but, when the wife complained and put it on Facebook they rushed out did a rewire and replaced the modem/router. Since then it's been OK and relatively fast at 250MB.

I download and play games online so we also have True which is also OK.

    Complain, complain.

  2. จ9Hi

    it could be the backlight.

    LCD screens use a backlight.

A simple check is with the laptop turned on shine a torch onto the screen.

If you can see an image it's the backlight.

A bit fiddly to replace so most repairers simply replace the whole screen.

Another check- if your laptop has a HDMi output connect it to LCD TV.

If you are in Pattaya I can recommend a shop on Thepprassit road just down from the Buffalo market.

  3. I had just ordered a replacement copy from Lazada for my XB1 when I noticed the offer.

About to kick myself until I realised the offer is for PC only.

I don't suppose either of the other posters play GTA V online on a PS4 or XB1?

I'm looking for LOS based players to play missions, etc.

The title of the application form is "APPLICATION FORM RESIDENCE CERTIFICATE IN THAILAND".  Download here: Application For Certificate Of Residency

There is no official fee for it but many offices do have a service charge to do one.

I personally don't see anything wrong with paying a relatively small fee for the document, after all it has cost them time and effort to do, the alternative is going to your Embassy, British Embassy charge around 2,500 THB for this and appointment needed, so no contest really.

Must admit I don't see why it takes so long to issue at CW.

Dont worry what it should be, the fact is there will be a 'service charge' and in Patong that be 500 Bahts so 200B is good going lol

A "service charge" is a polite way of saying pay a bribe or tea money.

Paying it will allow the practise to continue.

You can get the certificate of residence at Chaeng Wattana if you are doing 90 day reports to them. You will pay a 200 baht fee and the certificate will be mailed to you by EMS in about 3 weeks.

You wife's house book can serve as your proof of residence along with your marriage certificate.

I thought it was technically called a "letter of residence" and it should be free.

If you ask for a receipt you won't get one. Mind you maybe it has changed.

    If not don't pay.

  6. I'm going for a test drive in a 3.2 Wildtrak this afternoon ... I'll give you my thoughts later ... tried the 2.2 Wildtrak at the Motor Show ... really liked it. I have ordered a T+ Everest but may change my mind.

Where did you get a test drive ? I tried everywhere around Pattaya, Chonburi and Rayong. - " No have mister " The only test drive I was offered was in a 2.2 manual.

  7. The AA will post to any address abroad that you ask them to. There is an extra charge for this service.

Alternatively they will post to any address in the UK.

Have it posted to a friend in the UK and have them forward it to your address in LOS.

When I applied for my IDP I didn't have the paper counterpart. The application form for the IDP has a space where you can explain why you don't have the paper counterpart.

Obtaining a Thai Driving License is easy using your UK (or national license) and an IDP.

  8. If your UK license is still valid apply for an IDP ( International Driving Permit ). You can apply by post to the AA in the UK. Google "IDP" for more information.

You can have the IDP posted back to LOS. Take it with the documents you already have to your local Transport Office. You will only have to do the colour, depth perception and reaction tests to get your license.

You will be asked if you want a motorbike license as well as a car license.
