  1. Is anyone really surprised by this, lets face it the majority of the Brit teachers here aren,t qualified to teach anything and couldn,t hold down a job back home. The reason they are here is its the only place that will take them. Many off them to fond off the bottle aswell. I think we need more stringent checks on these people after all they are being left in charge of children. Does anyone know what school this unsavoury character passed himself off as a teacher at.

  2. I was horrified to read in the Pattaya mail June 3rd issue page 4 about a 2yr old child dead after suspected rape. The child was taken to Banglamung hospital by transvestite father, the hospital noticed cuts and bruises to childs face and a badly torn anus and called police. Now the forensic institute in BKK say they found nothing conclusive and thats the end of the matter. How on earth can this be the end of the matter someone must know what happened to that child. Its bad enough that this happens in Pattaya but the fact that nobody swings for this makes it ten times worse.

  3. What about the 2year old dead after apparent rape in Pattaya Mail June 3rd issue page 4. By one of these transvestites. banglamung hospital called police after finding the boy with a bruised face and a badly torn anus. The forensics institute in Bangkok found nothing wrong. So nothing is being done about this defencelss childs death. I think this gives Thailand a worse name that people can do this to a child and walk away Scot free to do same thing again.

  4. QUOTE (Mobi @ 2007-12-09 18:03:32) Some of you may have missed some of the detail on this project.

The land clearly has no beach frontage - hence the reference to 'man made beach', water parks etc.

It looks like it will all be carved out of 'virgin land' and will not encroach on Bang Sarae village itself (note the reference to a replica of the village being constructed in the development.)

This is going to be a "Disneyland" type of development, self contained.

Hence my question as to whether anyone was aware of the precise location. I can only assume that Bang Sarae is the closest place to it. For all we know, it might even be East of Sukhumvit.

This is a huge project by any standards, and obviously the developers will have to pay for the required infrastructure - power, water, roads, internet etc.

And being such a huge project, it will no doubt be marketed world wide to the target (family) groups, by travel agents and holiday companies.

If it is successful it will bring tens of thousands of new tourists to Thailand, and would have a knock on effect on Bang Sarae (proper) as well as Pattaya, a few kilometres down the road, but don't think this project will be in Pattaya, because it won't, and I doubt whether Pattaya City's remit extends that far.

Its accross the road from Nong nooch tropical gardens, cant say if its definetly going ahead or not as not much work being done there. And the office has been there a year or so.

Its practically accross the road from Nong Nooch beside Baan Talay housing project. Work has started and so far some land has been cleared and some concrete posts have gone in. Not that much really been done i can see it from my window so if it does go ahead i hope they do a good job of it.

  5. Can anyone tell me if the new laws about being on the condo committee for a maximum of 4 years 2 +2 , means 4 years total fullstop. Or is it 4 years from when the new law was introduced in 2008. I spoke to a local solicetor who said its 4 years fullstop, however when i brought this to attention of Committee they said thier solitor said its 4 years from new law being introduced. Can anyone help. Thankssssssss.

  7. over production of the vaccine has led to a world glut and so they need to flog off the excess somewhere

    might as well be Thailand

    ITS A COLD

    get over it

Theres a lot of money to be made selling vaccines, and very profitable creating these diseases in the first place. Aids is working well but to slow, Ebola was excellent but to fast and never had time to spread quick enough. So they will keep trying with swine flu, avian flu until they get the perfect one. Watch

Mr Evil himself Rockefeller talks about population control. The so called elite in this world want to reduce the population by at least 50% by disease and war. (look around you).
  8. My biggest horror when swimming in areas with speedboats or jetskis.

As for diving, I am shocked that dive operators still do not advise their customers to use those inflatable "bananas" that mark resurfacing divers.

    RIP :)

When you use the bananas jetskis use them to spin round adding to the danger. Diving round pattaya is dangerous because of the speedboats and jetskis its as simple as that. They arent the first and wont be the last, garaunteed.

  9. I stopped diving in Pattaya because of the close calls i had had with speedboats etc. One time at Kohlarn the owner of the diveshop told another boat to be careful there were divers down there. And the reply was do you own the water. After the japanese girl was killed a few years ago by speedboat something was supposed to be done about this. Obviously not enough has been done if anything and more innocent people are dead. There is a boat sinking or capsizing in Pattaya almost every week aswell and the captains usually do a runner, the authorities need to really do something this time. I certainly hope so for the good of Pattaya.

  10. I saw an article on the front page of the Nation last week about Chonburi being considered as a site for a nuclear powerplant. Surely this isnt a good idea. What do you think.

    Fantastic Idea!

I'm no expert on nuclear power by any means, but I'm sure this would benefit the local economy, now that tourism is down considerably on previous years!

Just think, they could dump the waste if any, into the local river system, producing larger fish, two heads to eat, instead of one. This could have many benefits, one being road safety at night, local drivers who insist in driving without lights, would glow in the dark.

The government has no control over exhaust omissions or any type of pollution, so how are they going to manage a nuclear plant?

We could go on for days about the issue, but at the end of the day it's down to the guys at the top who are getting their pockets lined.

What are you saying Pattayas going green (Luminous green).

  11. I saw an article on the front page of the Nation last week about Chonburi being considered as a site for a nuclear powerplant. Surely this isnt a good idea. What do you think.

If it was located near Maptuphut industrial, it would make perfect sense...

You surely this isnt a good idea...why isnt it good idea ??

Before everyone jumps on the band wagon about Thai operating a NPS, this is not what I am trying to get at..

Having been involved in nuclear construction, operations and maintenance of said plants... had to live very close to operational plants over the years, never had a concern or a worry about living next to one...can there be an accident..yes there can, but you can also have accidents at chemical, petrochemical and industrial plants as well

One reason i think it wouldnt be a good idea is tourism, the number of tourists coming is dwindling as it it and i reckon a nuclear powerplant would put a lot off. And if anything went wrong you would never see another tourist, theres not a lot of people visit chernobly is there.

  12. Maybe you can expand the comment about Windsor and the owner leaving?

Windsor is quite a large company and has a distribution network around the provinces. HomeMart stores in the Pattaya-Rayong area have Windsor shops adjacent to their stores. I don't know if these are small franchises or what. So if one small operator does not perform I would not necessarily blame Windsor (the product). I have friends that have Windsor windows from the factory/main store in Rayong and they were pleased with the install and service.

The man asked for good or bad experiences. My experience with Windsor was very bad and i wouldn't recommend them hoping you get lucky and get an installation team that knows what they are doing. Before the company lets a team lose on your home they should be checked and deemed competent, this lot were not by any stretch of the imagination competent.

  13. I got mine done by Windsor on Sukhumvit Rd and wouldnt recomend them. The fitting team didn,t know what they were doing at all. i have never seen anything like it. And in the recent rains the rain pored in. I definetely wouldn't recommend them.

  14. 600 means 3 cartons? at say roughly usd15 per carton, his total cost was approx usd45? I asume you are talking about Regal cigarettes?

Now, he paid 20,000baht which is approx USD570. It can't be "duty" only, so perhaps it included a fine for non-declaration over the duty free entitlement?

I am surprised that he actually paid the thb20k but wouldn't it have been better to just let them confiscate the excess and bring in the allowed duty free amount of one carton? Or was he so arrogant to think that laws can be broken becasue Thailand ought to be grateful that he has decided to grace these shores with his presence?

Just be grateful he wasn't rude to the customs officers :o

Yes 3 cartons and they were confiscated aswell. He paid because he had no choice.

  15. A friend of mine despite all the recent turmoil in Thailand decided to come to the LOS anyway. I had told him how nice it was, can you imagine my horror when he was separated from 20,000THB by the customs on arrival. His offence was bringing in 600 Regal kingsize for his 3 week stay as he wasnt sure he would get them here. I think this is a terrible way to treat tourists especially at a time when tourism is down. I also believe he isnt the only victim.

  16. very simple if the waters upto your knees then you are flooded.

Bangkok on alert for further sea level rise in 30 at risk areas

BANGKOK: -- The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) announced the sea level would be watched until November 21, following the highest rise on Monday to 2.17 metres above mean sea level.

Bangkok City Clerk Pongsak Semsan ordered over 30 at risk areas affected by the high sea level to be on alert for a further rise, by putting sand embankments and building wooden bridges.

The order was passed on to related agencies and officials were assigned to facilitate residents wanting to move their belongings and possessions.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department warned Monday the impact of tropical storm "Noul" was about to make landfall in Vietnam and would impact Thailand through most of the week.

Anucha Mokhaves, director-general of the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department, said Eastern and Northeastern provinces would experience more rainfall. The already prevailing northeast monsoon over the Gulf of Thailand would strengthen with waves above two metres through the week.

Mr. Anucha also warned residents in affected provinces of possible flash floods and landslides over the next few days. All ships were advised to proceed with caution during the period.
