50b each or 100b for the hour. There are cheaper options but if your any sort of decent player you will appreciate the table and conditions Fairtex offers. If you want cheap "hit and giggle ping pong" go on down to the Pattaya Queen...Hi guys, I'm a bit lost... So are there any places in Pattaya where one can play for free or for a sane fee? 100 baht/hours seems a bit too much:-), doesn't it?
Actually, how much do they charge in the Fairtex?

I am an Aussie, and I come to Pattaya regularly. I'm a pretty good player and I'm modest. If you're here when I'm here we could have a hit.

The survey was conducted among 12.25 million people aged between 12 and 24 from 17 provinces nationwide from August 15 to September 14.
Sorry am I reading this right they surveyed 12.25M people all within a 12 year age span across 17 provinces in 1 day short of a month?
Taken from Population Pyramid 2000
Age Male Female Totals (M's)
10-14: 1.4, 1.4, 2.8
15-19: 2.9, 2.9, 5.8
20-24: 3.5, 3.5, 7.0
15.6M
That works out to 78% of the total demography in 1 month. Impossible.
the story mentions conducting a poll; that doesn't mean they ask all 12.25M persons. rather they survey a randomly selected sample size (purhaps 1000) from that population such that any error is <5%.

the cheapest way is to get a bus to Trat from Ekamai station, costs ~200B and takes 6 hours. Then from Trat u get a minibus to The Koh Kong border station (1 hr) ; just make sure u get there before 8pm closing time. Then you pay 1200B for a 30 day tourist visa but if you're smart you'll already have an evisa from http://www.mfaic.gov.kh/evisa/
then it's a tuk tuk over the bridge for 100B and you'll find yourself in the thriving metropolis of Koh Kong. From there you can travel onto Phenom Penh or better still there are places who'll send your passport to the Thai embassy in PP and return it to you for a modest sum. rememeber the TV is free. You can stay in Koh Kong for a few days while waiting. What to do in KK? You can go up Old Kent Road.
....you don't need to bother with parasitic agencies.

It goes back a long way & seemed to be a way for backpackers to prolong their holiday. My first time in Bangkok back in 1979 I shared a room with an Aussie who was waiting on a replacement passport as his had been stolen (read - he sold it for extra cash). Others I met were involved in other things such as the traveller's cheques scam, smuggling gold to India, & even less savoury acts.
The convict stain runs deep in Australia.
(and yes, I am Australian)

How does 165000 to 27000 equate to a 33.45% drop? Even if this statistic was meant to be a drop "OF" 27000, it does not add up. This is wildly wrong or else I an misinterpreting "year on year".......
Anyone?
Hmmm my math... a drop of 611%, in as 27000 goes into 165000 6.11 times....
OR... this year is 16.3 % of what the previous year was...
Airport closures, riots, global economic recession, and now H1N1.... What's next???
Uh hum... you can't lose more than 100% (Not even thai tourism...its mathematically impossible).
165000 to 27000 is a 83.6% loss.
(1-27/165)*100

I know that the Thai government have been issuing tourist visas at no cost, and will do for another 2 months.
I'm coming to the end of my 2nd stay on a double entry tourist visa (60 days) - I understood when I got this back in November that it could be extended for 30 days (in Thailand) at a cost of 1900 baht, but was wondering whether this cost is waived at the moment or not.
Please if anyone can give me an answer to this I would appreciate it so much.
I'm from the UK.
I extended my TR60 for another month at Phuket Immigration. It cost me 1900 THB
Sorry!

Since you want to come here to find work a tourist visa is the best, as it gives you more time. An important bennefit is also that you will not need to show a ticket out of the country with in 30 days if you come to Thailand with a visa.
Without a visa this is officialy required and an airline can refuse to take you with them to Thailand. With a visa you can travel to Thailand on a one-way ticket.
thanks

Hi all
I am curently in Australia but I want to re-enter Thailand (probably Jan 09). After quite a few visits to Thai in 08 i wonder if i'd be eligible for an entry stamp on arrival or would it be best to obtain a TR60 single entry visa from the Thai embassy in Canberra before i go (or any other suggestions?).
I'm initially coming in as a tourist with a view to procurring some kind of employment.
I am 40, australian, on an australian passport.
my 2008 history to Thailand:
17/4-15/5, 15/5-16/6, 1/8-6/9 (28 day border entry stamps) and 23/9-9/11 (TR60).
thanks in advance

The number will vary based on interest rates and rates of return on your money and that will vary greatly but you should make the calculation based on a worst case scenario. For example, returns on GBP for example were easily in the 6.5% to 7% range a few months ago but in twelve months time they will almost certainly be much lower, say 4% to 5% - that makes a huge difference. Inflation is another important factor and based on events in Thailand over the past few months that should not be underestimated - using an 8% inflation figure is not unreasonable. The third and final component is exchange rate and as we are seeing presently that can also vary widely over time - using an exchange rate of 35 baht per pound would not be unreasonable either. So, when you figure out what your actually monthly spend rate is likely to be in Baht, say 80,000 baht a month all in, take that number and work backwards through all the factors described above and then project it forward over the next ten years and don't be surprised if you come up with a figure of greater than £500,000.
Actually did the math and using the criteria shown above (4% interest, 8% inflation, 80k baht spend per month and 35 baht per Pound), £400k will last you 13 years before you go broke.
I have derived an equation to (hopefully) take into account the above factors. it is
time to fund exhaustion (yrs) = LN(12*Q/(P*INF+12*Q-P*INT))/LN(INT-INF+1)
where P= lump sum, Q=monthly expenditure, INT=annual interest rate, INF=inflation rate
and LN is the natural logarithm. you will need a scientific calculator or use attached spreadsheet "Retirement.xls". P and Q have to be in the same currency ($,Baht,GBP). for interest of 5%, INT is entered as 0.05

Greetings
I have used up all my "visa on entry" stamps so I am in Vientiene city (Laos) and tomorrow intend going to the thai embassy to get myself a single entry tourist visa (TR60).
The "application for Visa" for asks for the date of arrival in Thailand.
Since i am unsure of when i will re-enter Thailand i don't know what to put down.
(I don't think i'll stay long in Vientiene; its a hole, but i may like to go down the country into cambodia for an unspecified amount of time).
My question is will the tourist visa in my passport be marked from the day i actually enter Thailand (as stated here) http://www.pattaya-funtown.com/visa_tourist.html as opposed to a hypothetical date i write on the application in Vientiene.
I'm 39, Australian, travelling on an Australian passport.
cheers

ok.
on this site dated 2001: http://www.phuket-info.com/thaivisa.htm Yes the information is way outdated
"Normally you will get a 30-days tourist visa at the border when you enter Thailand. This can be extended up to 15 days at the immigration office for a fee of 1900 baht. When your visa expire, you must leave Thailand. But you can enter Thailand as many times you want and you will always get a 30-days tourist visa."
It doesn't mention the 3 month thing. Is this information erroneous? YES
From pinned topic Useful Immigration Information & Visa Descriptions, Laws, addresses, download forms, Etc:
Thai Police Order 608/2549 – English translation: visa-exempt stay limitation
3x30 day exempt stamp limited to 90 days in a 180 day period unless you leave the kingdom and get a proper visa. The stamp at the airport is not a visa.
Thanks everyone for clearing that up.

If you entered on a "visa exempt" entry for 30 days, you don't have a visa. You can apply for an extension of your permitted to stay date, most likely only seven days. If you need to return to Thailand, why not apply for a tourist visa, good for 60 days and could be extended for 30 days. The 90 days in 6 months only applies to "visa exempt" entries, not entries with visas.
thanks. but if i intend going home via bkk (PhenomPenh-BKK-Australia) -intending to stay in international airspace- will i have to go through thai immigration and therefore breach the 3 months in 6 rule. it seems a waste to get a tourist visa (in Phenom Penh) when i'm only going to be in bangers for essentially a few hours.
If you stay in the international section you are not in need of a visa, however if you plan on going to a 'locker' to retrieve some stuff, you will need a visa
and PP in Cambodia is the worst place to get one
ok.

I hope this is not too silly a question.
I have had my third 30-days entry stamp. My first was upon entering thailand on 16th April. After 28 days I did a border run to Cambodia (stamp2). A further 28 days on i left Thailand for Cambodia/Vietnam where i stayed for about 6 weeks. on Aug 1 i re-entered Thailand for the third time (stamp3). Thats 3 months in Thailand in 4.5 months.
I had an accident and cannot leave for Australia on 30th Aug as originally planned. I'm in Phuket now.
My questions are
(1) I believe i can get a "visa" extension for 7-15 days by visiting the immigration office in Patong. True?
(2) After this I was thinking of going Laos/Cambodia and returning BKK a month or so latter. I have some stuff in a locker in BKK i wish to retrieve before flying home... So i will have to go through immigration/customs to do so....But because i've had my 90 days will i have a problem? OR is it better to forget the locker contents and stay in international airspace (PhenomPenh-BKK-Aust).....but even with this option I still have to retrieve my bags (from flight PP-BKK) which means going through thai immigration doesn't it?

thanks in advance.

Actually, the mass of oxygen is 32g/mol because oxygen is diatomic (O2)
So your calculated hours of exercising should be divided by 2.
(Assuming 100% utilization).
