  1.  Time to start cracking heads, me thinks.  Who do the PAD think they are?  They obviously have no clue what a democracy is.  It is not telling the police (or the government) what to do.  It is not blocking roads ad infinitum.  It is not inconveniencing others.  It is not a rule of the minority.

    The government had better do something very soon or else this could deterioate into something akin to what happened with the reds last year.  And no one wants that.

    It is no wonder that no one in this country has any respect for the law, it is because the law is never enforced.

    Justice delayed is justice denied.

  2. If the above advice doesn't work, then try DELETING the device from the Device Manager (Yes, I said delete).

    Then reboot the computer (with the device attached).  Upon rebooting, windoze should 'Find New Hardware' and install the drivers for it.  Maybe, that will fix it.  Sometimes that strategy works, and sometimes it doesn't.

    Good luck.

  3. Yes, catch the MRT at Hualumphong and get off at Petchaburi.  Then catch the Rail link to the airport at Makasan station, a short walk if the tunnel is not yet completed.

    I hope you leave plenty of time as it is not uncommon for trains from the North to be a tad late arriving into Bangkok.  Personally, I would suggest arriving into Bangkok at least the day before departing by air.

  4. 'He said the prime minister must announce explicitly that he would accept the outcome of the upcoming election in case he lost and that no power would intervene. The military should also say that everything would end after the election.

    “If every concerned party accept [outcome of the election], then we are moving in the right direction towards democracy,” he said. (MCOT online news)'

    Perhaps the Puea Thai and the Red Shirt leaders should do likewise, and very publicly.

  5. which I think is more inconvenient than having the person leaving the comment enter the squigglys.

    I would disagree with that as most of the captcha offerings are unreadable and not even real words.  As someone who encounters these dam_n things, I usually do so by avoiding sites that use them regularily.

  6.  Not a word on WHERE these Super SkyWalks are to be built.

    I also think this is aimed mostly at tourists, because, as already stated, Thai's do not walk.

    At least elevated, they should be free of motorcycles, but the vendors?  Hmmm, keeping 50 km clear, I kinna doubt it, at least not without some serious policing.  Oh dear, guess it won't happen.

  7. Not the travel agent's fault eh?

    What ever happened to accepting responsibility for the service you provide?

    Some people have a nerve. You booked flight C separately from the others. Then you are the one responsible for that segment. You missed the flight, so why should anyone (other than you) have to pay.

    As your title says 'Someone's got to pay.' Me thinks that someone is YOU.

  8. This is starting to smell like the run-up to another really bad Songkran.

    When will the Thai government grow the cahonies to tackel these fools head on, and early, before they get too brazen? Did they learn NOTHING last year?

    And anyone who thinks that Jatuporn would ever really renounce his parlamentry immunity, well, they must be seriously delusional and probably living on another planet :-) It just ain't gonna happen... EVER. Jatuporn is a big mounth AND a coward.

  9. Cut and paste text from the examiner...

    The airline called in the police and evacuated all 166 passengers from the plane boarding at Lanzarote, eventually allowing only 66 back on to fly home.

    Anger erupted on the weekend flight to Charleroi in Belgium after a passenger was stopped at the boarding gate and asked to pay extra for a piece of outsized luggage he was carrying.

    When the passenger objected, friends who had already passed through the gate came to his defence and scores more joined in as the dispute escalated.

    The pilot radioed for police assistance and all passengers were put off the plane and questioned before 66 were cleared for take-off some three hours later.

    The rest had to book flights on other airlines and some had to spend the night at the island’s Arrecife Airport while they tried to make alternative travel arrangements.

    Ryanair confirmed the incident last night, saying a large group of passengers had become disruptive and refused to comply with instructions from crew after a "gate fee" was required for outsized luggage.

    "Lanzarote police required the entire aircraft be offloaded and each passenger identified. Following further disruptive behaviour, the police required for security reasons that this entire group be refused travel," a statement from the airline said.

    The no-frills airline is famous for its add-on baggage charges and its no-excuses policy when luggage breaches size and weight limits but rebellion among passengers is rare.

    In its statement it apologised sincerely to the 66 passengers delayed by the incident but was unsympathetic to the other 100.

    "Any individuals who engaged in disruptive behaviour or refused to follow crew instructions will not be allowed to fly.

    "The safety and security of Ryanair’s passengers, crew and aircraft will remain Ryanair’s number- one priority," it said.

    Lanzarote is one of the airline’s busiest destinations with flights from 30 airports across Europe, including Cork, Dublin, Shannon and Knock.

    Cabin luggage should not exceed 55cm long, 40cm wide and a depth of 20cm.

    Hmmm... your whatever doesn't seem to wok very well as I copied and pasted without doing anything special.

  10. Add 'Take Ownership' to right-click context menu:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\runas]
    @="Take Ownership"
    "NoWorkingDirectory"=""

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\runas\command]
    @="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F"
    "IsolatedCommand"="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\runas]
    @="Take Ownership"
    "NoWorkingDirectory"=""

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\runas\command]
    @="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" /r /d y && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F /t"
    "IsolatedCommand"="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" /r /d y && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F /t"

    Instructions:

    1. Copy and paste to Notepad

    2. Save file with .reg extension

    3. Double-click to import to the registry...

    That's rediculous. You have to do all that, just to use YOUR OWN COMPUTER.

    This is the reason I will never upgrade to windoze7. Total f'n bullsh*t.

  11. <deleted>? Do these PAD jerkoffs have any grip on reality? They are going to hold the Thai government responsible? Oh well, why not, it's a national trait to NOT accept responsibility for your own actions.

    I am a little fuzzy on Ratree. Why did she get such a harsh sentence? Was she with Veera the first time he was captured?

    As for Veera, he knew what he was doing and now he should be left to his own devices to extracate himself from the mess of his own making. Personally, I think he, the rest of the PAD leadership AND the Red leadership should all be locked up for a good few years.

    What a bunch of clowns. The sad thing is, aren't these (both red and yellow), the ones who want to run the country instead of the democrats? Talk about a lose lose situitation.

  12.  As far as HD TV programming goes, there is a lot of it now... just not in Thailand.  What I do is download HD TV shows (mostly 720p) from the internet, transfer them to my HD Media player (full 1080P capability) and watch at my leisure.

    Forget about satellite or cable, especially here in Thailand, as the selection of shows and quality of the broadcasts sucks.  Plus what you save on your cable/sattelite bill will more than pay for a good fast internet connection.

    As for surround sound, well I think it's just like 3D, something for the marketers to push on the masses.  I own a fairly good SS system and can honestly say I have only heard a very small handfull of movies that make good use of it.  And even then, the effect is fleeting.  I also have a 55" Samsung LED-TV and have to say those TV's produce stunning images.

  13. "In 10 years' time, if nothing were done, Pattaya would face many problems such as tap-water shortages, mafia control and traffic congestion, analysts say"

    In 10 years? Hmmm, no. How about NOW. Already there, and have been for some time. Not only Thai mafia, but Russian mafia too. Traffic congestion, you betcha, and in spades. Tap water shortages, yep, that too. Happens constantly. The tap water can go off for hours, or even days at a time.

    Has the author of this piece EVER been to Pattaya?

    World Class Tourism City? Hmmm, don't think so, unless the tourists want to see Thailand's armpit. Pattaya is a cess pool and is getting worse by the day.
