The Canadian reply you report in the story is a bit far-fetched.  I just paid $1,281.00 Cdn for a late September round-trip flight  (nothing even near the reply of $4,000.00 Cdn). It was from Montreal, not Toronto, but they are only 330 miles apart.

Plus, I have flown out of Toronto over 20 times to Bangkok, and I can tell you one thing......NEVER, EVER, you would have gotten a ticket for $600.00, that's for sure.....maybe too much Singha Beer by one of the members that day!!  LOL!!!

Well, in fact we just flew Thai and Air Canada BKK to Victoria B.C. for $625 each... tickets bought on Air Canada Website April 22.  One way.

    Hello ,

    1. The inconsistency in Immigration Process as an Expat , When the Thai Immigration Laws state differently then what your local Immigration Office tells you.
Example : The Financial Income Affidavit Letter is no longer required and replaced with Bank Statements, Bank Conformation Letter of your Account, Yet I’m still asked to provide a Income Affidavit Letter in Thai Language and English Language as an American Expat !! Why !!??

    2. Banking Holidays delaying Pension Electronic Deposits, Some times 2-3 days on average.

Yet if a individual does a Electronic Bank Transfer in Thailand It’s instant !! Or If an individual sends a Western Union to you in Thailand It’s instant !! This is just plain poor Customer Service for Expats , and Electronic Deposits Period !!

Most anywhere in the Banking World Electronic Deposits are instant or at minimum under 24 hours at most , Thus the term Electronic Deposit !!

    3. Driving while Intoxicated, Not wearing seat belts , Speeding , Not wearing helmets with motorcycles and many other driving safety violations and in general The Thai Police rearely enforce these violations !!

Yet rest assured violating foreigners are a walking Atm for Tea Money !!

These are the Top three concerns I have.

TD Bank inCanada has a very cheap and fast money transfer system that I have used to get my pension payments over here for the last few years. It has never taken more than 2 minutes from me pushing the 'transfer' button, until I hear the notification 'bing bong' from my Krungthai Banking app. It is called "VisaDirect". If you have a Thai banking ATM Card with "Visa" on it you can use the service from your TD Bank easyline app.  Transfer charges are very reasonably, usually $ 8.95 for my meager pension amount!!

Maybe other countries have banks that provide a similar service.

    Fear mongering.

    B. S.   This guy designed mRNA technology. Would think he knows what he is talking about.  In fact I seem to recall he quit his directors  job exactly because the company insisted on releasing this 'gene therapy' injection without required testing being completed. They have no idea what problems will appear, normal vaccine testing regimens take 5 to 7 years before final approval!!

  5. Had a related problem last February renewing visa based on marriage (which I have been doing since 2008 with few problems) most done at Hua Hin Immigration, but this was the third time after having moved to Pathum Thani. I had all the required documents, with translations where needed (same as the document package that the approved for the 2 previous years, but was refused.

I had the exact same form letter that the Canadian Embassy BKK still provides certifying my 'income', and stamped by MFA.  After asking why, the new Immigration Officer said you income MUST BE FROM PENSION SOURCES ONLY.

At the CDN Embassy, I had provided my original Canadian Government tax documents for my 3 pensions and my Canadian Bank statements as backup for that, all reported income, was pension income and exceeded the required minimum!  Complaining to the 'new' head of Pathum Thani Immigration brought the same reply!

I went back to the CDN Embassy and asked the very helpful and pleasant Thai agent (whom I have dealt with for years) if she could add the word "pension" before "income", she checked with her supervisor and said "sorry, this is a form letter that we use for all income certification requests and can not be changed".  She also said "I have never heard of this certification letter being refused."

She then (gratiously) gave me her business card with her personal direct phone number on it, and told me to go back to Pathum Thani Imm and ask the agent to speak directly to me by phone, and I will tell them it is all pension income...

Back to PTImm, talk to same officer, she says, "Sorry I can not do that" and tells me to put 400k in a Thai bank and gives me a covid extension for 1900 baht. Since I was not prepared to do that, I was able to use another Immigration location to secure 1 year extension, although not at the regular listed price ☹????

    P. S.  The nice lady at CDN Embassy also said that they are planning to 'phase out' issuing the income certification letter within the next 18 months...  seems my tenure here is going to end soon.

I'm not a Dr, this is not medical advice, etc etc....

But if I run out of my current supply, and I can't get any more, that's probably what I'll do.

In theory, it should be identical, but it depends on the source, and may not go through the same rigorous standards of testing. But if it's okay for your dog to take, it's probably okay for you to take.

But best to get from a pharmacy if possible, IMO. I'm not sure how hard that is to do in Thailand.

Very easy. Shopee and Lazad have it.

Also many pharmacies 12 pack of 6 mg tabs was something like 800 baht in Kanchanaburi

Canada will still do a statutory declaration for proof of income.

The rules do not mention the countries that do not issue them.

As far as I know only the embassies of the USA, UK and Australia do not issue them. There may be others that don't do them.

Maybe you should get something from the Swiss embassy stating they will not issue you one.

Yes. I got a statutory declaration of income from Canadian Embassy BKK in January with copies of my Canadian bank statements as well as original Canadian tax documents for Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security and B.C. Public Pension Plan amounts totaling significantly more than the required 400,000 baht for marriage based extension. I have used this method for the last 10 years with no problem. Most renewals were done in Hua Hin, but the last 2 were done in Pathumthain Immigration.  Seems a new boss in place heading up Pathumtani Immigration since last renewal, that proceeded normally with the letter from Cdn. Embassy... not this time!! Immigration said that the letter needs to state that the funds came from Pension sources, and refused to accept the application. I went back to Cdn Embassy and asked if they would add that they had supporting documentation that the funds were indeed derived from pension payments.  The Embassy said no, that the letter is an internal form letter and could not be changed.  Also said that they will be phasing out providing this service in the next 2 years. The very helpful assistant at Canadian Embassy said she had never heard of the declaration letter being refused, and offered her personal business card and direct phone number to me.  She said to go back to Immigration and while there, to call her and she would explain the documentation I provided for proof of the declaration to the Immigration Officer.  So back to Immigration and explained this to the officer who refused to let us call, and also asked to speak with big boss man who also refused. Got a covid extension twice and renewed at a different Immigration office. They don't want us here. So plans to sell up everything here and move back to Victoria are underway. This covid mess will never be reasonably resolved here by inept Thai authorities, in Victoria they repealed mask laws a few weeks ago and a high percentage of population is fully vaccinated... only makes sense to escape the madness here.
