  1. Good luck to you, whatever you decide to do. I do like the idea of importing and selling car parts, hmmmm.....

It will be bloody hard work but stick to your guns and don't listen to all of the doom and gloom merchants. Work hard, be nice and try above all else to offer something different than all of the others. Get some good marketing ideas to start off your business like FREE innner tubes for the first week, you need to get people to come to you so they can see how good you are who will then put the word around on your behalf. The best advertising is always word of mouth. Make sure you get a Thai worker who you can trust (good luck with that) and keep him onside at all times! Try to advertise in Dutch bars and media to get your fellow countrymen to use you.

Serioulsy mate, good luck. I would like to think that the ex-pat's in BKK will use you , at least to get your started.

If you do go for it let us know how it all goes.

  2. I am sorry if this is a really obviuos question but this whole 'visa' thing really confuses me!

  3. i would have thought that saying Cha-am or Hua Hin mught have given the game away to where i am!

Thanks for the tip about watching online, Redscouse. I'll look into it.

OMG, it's the biggest game since '87, i'll be gutted if i miss it!

  4. Hi,

I NEED HELP! I am a huge Coventry City fan and i am desperate to see tonihgts match against Chelsea in the FA Cup 1/4 Final. Does anybody know if it will be shown on any TV over here? I have checked the UBC magazine but it doesn't have it listed and now i am getting pretty desperate.

It would be even better if anybody could tell me if they know of a plce in either Cha-am or Hua Hin that will be showing the game.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help if you can, i am desperate!

  5. surprisingly only the thai id card is needed for a thai passport....at the central bangna office, underground in the parking lot.

    Thanks Vato.

  7. You could always apply for a 7 or 10 days extension at your local immigration office, to be on the safe side. Cost: 1,900 Baht.

Can i do that even though i am here on my third 30 day stamp in a row?

ANy advide would be greatly received.

Shouldn't be any problems at all, due to the current circumstances. I bet you a beer that they will give you an extension, Steve! :D

Hahaha.....you're on. I will get down to the Hua Hin Immi Office now, wish me luck, i've heard all the horror stories about that place!

I'll let you know how i get on, and when you can buy me that beer....... :o

Just returned form the Hua Hin immigration office, they were great. I was told i would not be charged overstay, even though i cannot leave the country until December 10th. I obviously have to prove i have attempted to leave through showing my previous tickets but i would be fine. I only hope this is the case when i reach the airport!

I didn't have to buy an extension of any kind so thankfully, it looks at the moment as though things will ok.

I also must add that Air Asia have been absolutely fantastic with all of this. They have changed, cancelled and rebooked flights with absolutely no question or problem.

So 'George' thanks for your advice and i think i owe you a couple of beers!! :D

  9. The overstay fee waiver will only be granted on a case-by-case basis to travelers able to prove that the airport closure was responsible for their delayed departure.

Playing devil's advocate here but could immigration argue that the closure didn't prevent this particular traveller making alternative arrangements for such a local trip?

Highly unlikey I know as they should be working their butts off to restore at least some of Thailand's image but sometimes you never know how their minds work.

The day i was supposed to fly and couldn't (November 26th) i went to the Immigration office in BKK and was told i wouldn't have to pay overstay fines or make alternative arrangements. Wish i had got the lady to write that down, but hindsights a wonderful thing!

So, does anybody know the cutoff point for overstay fines after the airport re-opens?

  10. If you can show a ticket out of the country within the period SUV is closed no overstay is charged.

    www.immigration.go.th

Thanks for that, i understand that is the case but for how long can i overstay without fine? There will be a cut off date at some point and i will be overstaying the airport closure by 5 or 6 days, this is the problem.

    thanks again

  11. Hi

Does anybody know (not just think they do) what the rules are now for overstay?

My visa expired on November 26th, i had a flight booked to Penang for that day, and subsequently changed it three times. Now the airport will soon be re-open the earliest i can fly is next wednesday. I have all the previous flight itineraries to show to the relevant authorities but i am worried that as i cannot fly until the 10th i will be charged overstay from tomorrow until that day.

Does anybody know what the rule is?

Many thanks for any help you can give me and good luck to anybody else in the same situation.

  12. Has anything been said about when the aiprot will re-open? I need to fly tomorrow!!

    Doubt it.

It's been reported that the Honorable Wongsawat won't be in until 7 PM. Plan to stay for a couple more days.

Yeah, thanks for that. It's not too bad for me but my parents are supposed to fly to New Zealand and they will miss all of their connecting flights!

My visa expires tomorrow, any idea if i will have to pay overstay charges? Shoud i sue the PAD if i do?? hahaha

  14. Hey Steve, you can purchase 3 month membership cards from nadzproject.com, under the xbox 360 section. They have a shop located in Silom (ITF TOWER F.14) and they sell all types of things for the Xbox. If you purchase it online, it would probably cost more (that is if you are talking about places such as play-asia). However, if you purchase through the Xbox it will be alright.

Thanks for your help Matt. I will be in BKK next week so i will try my best to find the shop. Can you let me know a little more about where it is please? I live in Cha am and do not get to BKK very often!!

How is the quality ofCOD 4 online? (I know the game is amazing!) I have heard it is a bit hit and miss! Is this still the case?

Any help and advice you or anyone can give me would be a real help.

    Many thanks

  15. Hi,

    Many thanks in advance

  16. Can you help me please?

I arrived into Thailand on a one year non-immigrant category O visa that expired on September 11th. I have since made two trips to Cambodia returning on a 30 day stamp each time. Am i correct in assuming that i can do this one more time or does that fact that i entered in Thailand on the one year visa mean that i will not be allowed to return?

Any help and advice you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks in advance

  17. Hi all,

Hope you can help a NEWBIE!

I want to go to Vientinne at the end of October for a Visa. Is there a train from BKK? If so how long does it take, i understand it will take a while but i am on budget!

What exactly do i need to take with me? I am a 35 year old British Citizen (not a complete idiot but i do find all of this very confusing!) and would like to get the double Visa. I am currently coming to the end of my 2nd Tourist visa in two months, will this be a problem?

Any help you can give me would be greatly received and appreciated.

    Many thanks in advance

  18. 1. Consulate should not issue a visa with you stamped in Thailand on passport and if they did it would not be valid for entry.

    2. No. KL will issue to those married to Thai - not for undocumented reasons.

    3. As one above.

If your service is legal and for a recognized organization you should be able to obtain extension of stay for one year. But that would likely require a work permit which you do not mention.

Do you think it would be best for me to get a Work Visa?

I am not very good with Visa's etc, I find it all very confusing! Is there any way, other than returning to the UK that I can obtain a 1 year visa?

    thanks again

It is illegal to work without a Work Permit. You will be deported if found out.

I am only working as a volunteer. i am not being paid and the visa I obtained before I came to thailand was issued by the Thai Consulate in Hull, UK who were made aware of my volunteer work. I sent a letter to them from the volunteer organisation I am with. I want to stay and do one more year's volunteer (unpaid) work with the same organisation.

Can anybody please help me find a way to get another one year non'immigrant, category 'O' visa while I am in Thailand??

  20. Hi,

I am a 34 year British citizen currently volunteerin in Thailand. My current 1 year, category O, non-immigrant visa expires on September 17 and I plan to do a visa run to extend to December. The problem I have is I want to stay here for a further 12 months from December.

    Is there anyway I can obtain another 1 year, Cat O, non-imm visa whilst I am here? I hvae a couple of options available to me;

1, my friend (who lives and works in Thailand) may be returning to the UK in October for two weeks and I was planning to give him my passport to obtain a new visa from Hull whilst he is there

2, I have heard the 1 yr visa can be obtained from the Embassy in Singapore or KL, is that correct?

3, I could post my passport to my parents with accompanying paperwork for them to send to Hull, then return the passport to me by post - A little concerned about this though as things do get 'lost' in the post!

If anybody has any idea's of how I can make this work I would be very greatful. Obviously I do not want the added cost of flying back to the UK just to obtain the visa!

Many, many thanks in advance, you could be curing one huge headache for me!

    Steve
