  1. think its the 'village people' type outfits that puts people off .... all that leather and chains stuff ..??

If there's five bike clubs on Samui then it's probably what attracts members rather than puts them off.

dont mind stupid comments like that ..what does he want bikers to wear ...suits.....leather was for protection more than anything years ago ...now its mostly cordura,kevlar..gortex etc..coz the leather never was much good in the rain

You don't mean the leather jackets without sleeves do you. :)

or the pants with the ass cut out called CHAPS!

  2. In cuba (infested with pickpockets) I used to put my wallet down my underpants and stuff my pockets with plastic shopping bags to make them bulge.......

So what did you do when it was time to pay for something? Reach down into your underpants to find your wallet? :):D

No, I used to ask the pretty shop assistants if they could reach down and help me retrieve my wallet.

  3. the baht bus driver knows where the police station is......and he went the other way.

It's a strange feeling knowing someone is about to pick your pocket.

In cuba (infested with pickpockets) I used to put my wallet down my underpants and stuff my pockets with plastic shopping bags to make them bulge.......one time I was walking the malecon and a chica started to walk alongside me.......then I heard the rustle......she peeled off as soon as I looked down at my pocket.

rural transport in cuba is on coach & horses........(same layout in the coach as a baht bus)........once I caught a thief with his hands in my pocket and when I asked him what he was doing he became aggressive (good strategy) and I let it go.......another time I thought the guy next to me was going to try it so I let him carry on.......it was very difficult to detect the point where he took that empty bag, but he did.

  4. what is up with these dogs lately?

riding in the hills on friday I was entering a left hand corner about 30 kmh on dirt/gravel.........a dog came out of nowhere from the right rear and started the running/growling routine......I turned and looked to the right which threw the weight of the bike off and the front slid out.......it happened in a flash and I was down hard.......the result was a big gash on my forearm that needed stitches + bad gravel rash.

going back with a knife in 2 weeks to look for the dog, it's going to have more than a gash when I finished carving it up.

  5. If you have a nice motorcycle helmet, take it with you when you leave your bike. I had one that I had bought at Theprasit Market for about 800 baht - a white INDEX model - and had it padlocked to my cycle and they cut the strap and left the D ring hanging on the lock.

My girlfriend also lost a 500 baht helmet locked by the regular motorcycle lock.

I lost a similar helmet in the same manner parked on the street outside theprasit market.

now I will only leave 100 baht helmets on the bike.

  6. most annoying: cars that roll up to a junction and then start edging out trying to get the motorbikes to lose their nerve in a game of "chicken".

most entertaining: thai motorcycle rider arriving at a junction and just swinging left into the road without looking. (I saw one do it in front of a bus one day, the bus driver swerved just in time, while sompong was completely oblivious to how close to death he was.)

  7. yeah it's no joke in pattaya with a modified exhaust........I put a nice endurance aftermarket muffler on a honda wave.......gave it lot's of power, but the cops were swarming on me like bees.......never seen anything like it.........they pulled me 3 times in 4 days.
