  1. Apparently, the app is called "Police I lerv [love] you". So who came up with the transliteration "lert" for "love"? The same people who keep spelling "Happy Birdday" and "Melly Kissmart"?

Go to this link http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/police-urges-phone-users-load-police-lert-u-mobile-application-helpful/ and scroll down to the video.

I guess the same ones who uses transliteration

Knock off the wise cracks until she is ok at the minimum. .   I really hope this woman fully recovers.

Amazing what lot of garbage comments can be made about a poor girl still in critical condition. Until now we don't know the When, Who and Were, would you guys like it if it was your daughter laying there ? No, thought so. As for Rohypnol, it,s not normal to lay unconsious for days unless mixed with opioids like heroin, big enough doze of one or the other or both could be fatal or lead to coma. This lady is after what i can read only unconcious, anybody thought that this could be a medical condition. Just saying, Stop jump the GUN.

It is just a Poi Pet thing. Many people have done crossings at other places with a valid multiple entry visa without a problem. You are making a mountain out of a mole hill.

This is what people tend to forget to read in the thai imm.law. " up to the individual immigration officer to grant or deny you entry to the Kingdom, no reason have to be given" Here is where the face factor come i to play, if they simply don't like your dress, face or whatever they can deny you entry even if you have millions in your bank and all the requiered paperwork and copies, that individual can still deny you entry. Read the law. This of cource make people confused, they let you in at one border, next man try entry at another border with exact same document and get denied entry. My point, they do what they want and they get away with it because as it states "every individual imm. officer can by his or hers own choosing bla bla"

Either the credit card was reported stolen, or it was not reported stolen. If it was reported stolen, it's the bank's problem. if it was not reported stolen, it's the problem of the owner of the card.

Beg to differ, if the /your card was used in a scam you had no part in any deasant bank would refund, talking western bank here,  bank understand that you don,t go look wherever you keep your card  every bloody day if just that card is In it's place. Of cource you should report theft or loss of card to the bank as soon AS you are aware of it, and as both this situations comes under Bank coverage the person in question should be ok. My experience, anybody else ??

  5. When i read this stories in TV where a farang try to explain how things are and especially were before he came into the thai family with compleet family tree and who sponsored who, who owns who money and so on, i can't help but smile. The truth is that 95 prosent of the farangs don't speak the language and continue to not learn the lingo even after married and living in the country for 15-20 years. Especially english people seems to teach their bride or partner the queens own language, and thats how it goes. Then one can see the disbelief when the man after many years of marriage find out the real story of the family their finances, how little land the family actually owns, debt and so on. Because we dont bother to learn the language there's a hole thing a maskerade going on behind or back that we may or may never know. Why the hell did you not tell me this before " oh darling i did not want to make you angry". Things only appear into the light when the shit hits the fan after some years and you are left with two options, pay or refuse to pay. Most of us pay, of cource we pay, we also don't like to loose face for the village, for the family back home, for our mates and so on. Especially after years of telling everybody how different and honest just our asian family are, and what an exeptionally kind and good wife we have, different from all this money sucking bar girls so many farangs have married. There's a sucker born every second, that's so true, anybody out there can relate?

  6. If you have the birth certificate of your son stating you as a father, that could get you through. A letter signed by your wife giving you permission will get you through. I have tried both, last time going to Hanoi only with birth certificate my son was eight there came a female immigration lady and talked to him asking why is mum at home bla bla and it was ok. My son has same family name as me. To Williamgeorgeallen, i guess the more paperwork you can produse the better. Now my case having full custody of the child i wonder has anybody tried traveling with this kind of docments, do they still ask for mothers approval or not.

  7. I think this is a good start in regulating the very shady and criminal private loan marked. A system that has driven many people to suicide. People it seems do not calculate the interest they have to pay when taking up these loans. I hope the big man use any law available to him to stop the loan sharking or regulate this insane and criminal practice witch make people lose their land and livelyhood, and we all know who benefit from this. In the area i live so many farmers for various reasons have taken up small loans to get by, havent been able to pay the unreasonable high interest maybe because of a bad rice season, sickness in the family or many other reasons. Their land is now beeing sold off for millions because of the boom in land prices. Tell me if this is fair, and were will it end?

  8. Racism is so common in this country, like trowing litter on the streets it goes from the top to the bottom. Thai/ chinese despice thais, thais and chinese have a common scapegoat in the farang and other non etnic thais. I have a boy here with thai mother. I had sort of expected it but it did not become clear to me before we experienced the treatment of the boy in school. They are picking at him for any small thing they can find, and believe me they are looking hard. When he was smaller he was just a little sweet farang boy among teachers and other staff, no treat to anyone, now that he is soon turning 11, he is suddenly " the handsome one". When i ask for him in school what classrom he is in that day the female teachers talk among them self, oh yes its .... name the handsome farang. This might seen like a small problem but for the boy it is definitly not. Jalousy from the thai/chinese boys and older teachers is mounting. Smacking over the fingers with rulers is a widely used torture metode, and slapping over the head. Last term i finally got hold of the head teacher, she usd to escape whenever she saw me because her fear of speaking english, but when i got her to sit down for a talk, the schoolyear ended in nice standing. New term, new teacher about 65, should never have been near children in a teaching capacity. She used two weeks to tear down all we buildt up last term. Slapping, screaming generally trying to kill any want by the childen for learning anything. Talk to the chinese big boss, impossible no speke de inglish, even with translator present they are so unrespectful that they all the time speak directly in thai to the boy not to me translator shit scared to tell me whats said. Of cource there is no practice of slapping, screaming so on of the students in this fine school, they lie you stright in the face without moving an eyelid. Everybody knows that this is going on, nobody do anything, if you speak to other parents they agree with you but are scared to speak up. Oh and it's such a good chinese private school. Change school, not easy the boy have a few good friends there he know he loose if he change school. Ok thats us, i'm sure there are other expats out there with similar experience. So to the boys at Koh Tao, it is hard to imagnine how they ever could get a fair trial in this country. Nevermind proof or no proof. Outsiders, lover cast, no money. As an expat of many years in this country and not celebrating the new rulers, i still had a hope of change to the better. And to he fair many good things have changed, the corruption with land deeds especially, the rich right out stealing state land building huge resorts, trying to do something with corruption inside the police and many other things, but for the two guys at Koh Tao sadly they are cought in a justice system where it seems like the elite still rules, and little or nothing have changed, why havent the new rulers done anything to change this important part of peoples life. One can but wonder and take care not wonder too loud..

  9. RIP to the two innocent people he killed and truly sorry for their families they left behind. The shooter what can be said, a totally stupid, cruel and cowardly way to get out of his "loosing face" situation, for himself and all other involved. For us farangs living here there is a warning in this episode, be careful who you pick an argument with, there are millions of guns out there more than we ever will know.

  10. Three sick middle aged ladies and some in here have already convicted them to life. Has it gone by you that more and more countries now recognizes drug use as a health problem and should be treated as so. We are with 30 or so gram not talking about a major smuggling operation but own use. Take down the dealers, and take them hard, but take a closer look at the photo from the police station and i think you will find that this three women need a hospital bed, not prison for life.

  11. It still amazes me that people that have lived here for many years still dont know that almost every immigration office in Thailand practice the Immigration law after their own understanding of it. You can argue until youre blue but youll always be on the loosing side. The times i heard, yes but in Jomtien they do like this, Udon they do like this other places do like this, must be in the many thousands over the years. Its just a fact that it is like this, accept the system, its how it is, or dont accept and it will get you in trouble. This have nothing to do with TS, he had a legit question, it just came to me when i read som of the replies he got. Some, here they dont ask for this form. Yes what should he do, move up to your place because they dont ask for this form. Some offices ask for bank books some dont, some ask for special documents other dont, some offisers are friendly and try to help you through the process as smooth as possible, others are just a pain in the butt and like to make your stay in the immigration office as unpleasant as possible. One thing is for sure. Even if you have all the requiered documents for a visa or extension or whatever you are applying for, it is still up to the individual immigration officer to accept or deny your application there and then without any explanation. And that he or she individual officer can do, even when you have every asked for documents requiered by the Thai Immigration Law.

  12. White Sand looking its best. After many previous visits and a lot of water play we last year got a skin rash from the water, and no wonder. If one coming down the hill towards White Sand, stop at the first 7/11 on the right, behind the shop there is a sort of walkway down to the beach and a small river running along the walkway. It is a sewer, green and goofy and straight in to the sea. Absolutly disgusting and in this day and age should have been cleaned up, not only this place but all over the island. post-67833-0-39545500-1458966801_thumb.j

  13. Just a thought. They forgot in this article to mention that if a thai national living in Norway get sick, need an operation in the millions of Bath, it is free. No never mention the other side of the coin. Maybe im unjust here because the countries are so different in every aspect, but still. I have the latest years started to pay tax of some of my pension to Thailand without getting anything in return exept two pieces of paper, one saying im a tax resident the other saying how much i have paid. I am doing this because i think it is just that the country i live in should get some of the tax i would have to pay anyway. In Norway they tax our pensions with 15% if we tax emigrate. I can always go home and get that operation if needed and im alive, but why dont the thais give us who pay tax here anything in return for our money f.ex free medical at government hospitals.

  15. There are to my knowledge 4 strains of Dengue. I was so unlucky to run into the worst kind a few years ago. 14 days at home thinking it was a kind of flu, when i finally got my ass to the hospital it was straight to the ICU, the pain in my body from head to toe was unbearable. Only pain killing medicine and salt water was given. The hardest periode was after i got home, Dengue is a sure energy killer. I would say it took up to another 6 months before i got my energy back, this periode was terrible. Fighting to find the power to sit at a table, to get up from the chair and of course problem gettong up from my bed. I was told by doctors that if there was a next time it would probably be worse, this did not happen. Next time only 3-4 days in hospital, and non of that loss of energy <deleted>. I found out by experience and by talking to others that Dengue hit very individual, some people get it and finish in a few weeks and others had experienced it very much like mine. As there is no cure, the best thing is to get in for a blood test 2-3 days in a row, that so the labratory can mesure bacteris in your blood going up or on the way down. If you are badly hit, admit as soon as possible, you will ned a lot of water intravenously, dont think you can beat this alone.
