It is just a Poi Pet thing. Many people have done crossings at other places with a valid multiple entry visa without a problem. You are making a mountain out of a mole hill.

This is what people tend to forget to read in the thai imm.law. " up to the individual immigration officer to grant or deny you entry to the Kingdom, no reason have to be given" Here is where the face factor come i to play, if they simply don't like your dress, face or whatever they can deny you entry even if you have millions in your bank and all the requiered paperwork and copies, that individual can still deny you entry. Read the law. This of cource make people confused, they let you in at one border, next man try entry at another border with exact same document and get denied entry. My point, they do what they want and they get away with it because as it states "every individual imm. officer can by his or hers own choosing bla bla"

  2. If you have the birth certificate of your son stating you as a father, that could get you through. A letter signed by your wife giving you permission will get you through. I have tried both, last time going to Hanoi only with birth certificate my son was eight there came a female immigration lady and talked to him asking why is mum at home bla bla and it was ok. My son has same family name as me. To Williamgeorgeallen, i guess the more paperwork you can produse the better. Now my case having full custody of the child i wonder has anybody tried traveling with this kind of docments, do they still ask for mothers approval or not.

  3. It still amazes me that people that have lived here for many years still dont know that almost every immigration office in Thailand practice the Immigration law after their own understanding of it. You can argue until youre blue but youll always be on the loosing side. The times i heard, yes but in Jomtien they do like this, Udon they do like this other places do like this, must be in the many thousands over the years. Its just a fact that it is like this, accept the system, its how it is, or dont accept and it will get you in trouble. This have nothing to do with TS, he had a legit question, it just came to me when i read som of the replies he got. Some, here they dont ask for this form. Yes what should he do, move up to your place because they dont ask for this form. Some offices ask for bank books some dont, some ask for special documents other dont, some offisers are friendly and try to help you through the process as smooth as possible, others are just a pain in the butt and like to make your stay in the immigration office as unpleasant as possible. One thing is for sure. Even if you have all the requiered documents for a visa or extension or whatever you are applying for, it is still up to the individual immigration officer to accept or deny your application there and then without any explanation. And that he or she individual officer can do, even when you have every asked for documents requiered by the Thai Immigration Law.

  4. Went out today to KCI two days before my 1 month under consideration runs out the 3 sept. Not a friendly smile from the fat fella that seems to run the counter, or maybe he think he should. Sit down, no explanation. Then comes another stamp pusher looking through four different files all 1 cm thick, looking for my file. Where do they keep all that paper. One would think that in this day and age, one look at computer would be enough, but no. Sorry your file has not come back, phone with the nr on extension on the third. If my file is not there today i guess its not there the third either. Anyway i cant see any of those guys looking through all those files again because a phonecall from me, only a few of them speak english anyway. So my life is at a standstill, no sleep until this is solved. What to tell my son today who knew i was going for the stamp, of course they give a <deleted> about that. What about getting stopped on the street the 4 th with overstay, trying to tell the local police the story about the hole thing. Well im nearly sertain that after a few days in the slammer it all would be sorted out. Thats if they only can find the key. Well, one hole day wasted becauce of pure bs. No, they dont stay in high regard with me, thats for sure. Oh Buddha give me a chance to tit for tat this people ne day.

  5. Just to continue. Everybody i know here around Surin area applying for ext retirement get a visit now. The numbers of officers varies from four to three, but they bring laptop/scanner/printer and they have ready blanc papers or official papers to fill out if needed. By neighbors f.ex or pujaiban to state your good standing in community. Time spendt varies from two to three hours, so they are really going at it. Read headliner today at thai visa, immigration visit and good luck to u all.

  6. I had exactly the same treatment as forum starter about a week ago, they came unannounced thou i knew they would come inside the month i was given under consideration. Because they told me at KC when i applyed for retirement ext as i do every year. They were correct in all manner, but boy did they go through documents and made even some new ones. Where do they hide all the documents, copies so on. They did not ask to see inside the house, but one of the four asked to use my toilet. Luckily i can say my ten yr old boy was home from school that day with stomack pains, that made it much more easy for me to explain that i was divorced with sole custody of my boy and as having given the house to mum him and me lived in a rented house. The boss of the four asked to talk to my ex wife but was full of exchuses when he finally understood fully that we was divorced, and divorced without any cuarrels(thats up to now then lol) That i had given mia the house and kept the car and everything else they seemed impressed over, but who know what they think. Well all my papers are in order, i dont have a yellow book but i have a paper from the tax office stating that i pay tax in Thailand and is a permanent resident. That paper looks impressive but is ofcource in english for use in my own country, so i guess next year i have to ask to get my tax and proof of residece in thai as well. I am suprised if i understood forumstarter correct that he got extension there and then, for as they also here brought a laptop/printer/scanner with them and empty documents to fill in by neigbours etc confirming my good standing, they did not bring any stamps. Althou they said everything in order, u have, me, had no problem with extension they did not give it to me there and then, come to office to receive it on date set from applying when i got 1 month under consideration. There is definatly a crack down in progress, and it is not only in KC area. Reed/search " under consideration" and u can see what kind of tricks imm are up to other places in Isan. Show bankbooks etcetra, prove that u transfer money in to the country. This one i have been prepared for as i have save updated bankbooks for many years, and i think this will be more used all over the board. Not only to come and say u receive so and so much in US or Norway but what money are u actually living of here in Thailand. By question "do i have to go through this every year" one of them said "only every second year" so there we go. It is to hope that they have forgotten most of the new rules next year.

  7. I have read all the replies to the forum starter and is suprised over how many of you are close, i said close to call this man a bs artist out to put the fear in people. I would advice u all to read the forum called Proof of income for marriage extension- is this a new policy. There is definitly a crackdown going on these days at least in this district Kap Choeng, 60 km from border crossing to Cambodia, but also similar reports from immigration places further north in Isan. Exempel, now everybody asking for extension retirement get a 1 month " Under consideration" stamp in passport and wait for Imm Police to come to your house for evaluation/ check up. This have never happend to ex retirement befor, or shall i rather say i never heard of any visits to pensioners before, only to married extension people. Two days ago they came 4 yes 4 police ( id around neck Immigration Police) unannounsed, i mean i knew they were to come but not exactly what day. They used about nearly three hours at my house, talking to my neighbors on both side of me. My neighbors hardly know me other than good morning and so, but they had to come in my patio with their ID and sign official papers that they thought i was a good man, divorced but took good care of my child i have custody of. They took a lot of pictures of me and the boy, me, boy and immigration people, all of us incl neighbors and my town house. A new experience for me, never seen any notice about this new practice, but after reading some forums i realized that this have been going on in this region since before Christmas last. So to end this, they dont have to follow the law, or rather read the small print. Its up to any immigration officer to grant or deny u visa or extesion. So if they ask to see what money u actually bring in to the country, is up to them. They know very well that the US Embassy write income that you as a US citicen swear to is correct and ask them to write, and probably in many cases are false info, they also know that in the scandinavian embassies we have to produce strong proof of income to get them to write garantee of income letter. I asked the officers visiting me, "whats the background for this new very though praksis" he just pointed his fingers to the sky and said "from the top". Personally i think that any argument to that is a sure lost cause. They also said, before we dident have the manpower to do all this investigations, but know we have. I might add, they brought their own laptop and printer/scanner, one box full of blanc official documents in case of needing to fill out more docu, ex the info on neighbors.

  8. Went to Kap C for my yearly retirement extension 4 th aug, big suprice because new rule again, under consideration stamp to 3 sept and come back that date. Today phone from same Immigration come to office monday morning at 8 am. I asked extension ok, yes he said. Very suprised again that they phoned before the date they told me first to back, not known to work with speed. I think everything is ok and that i get my one year. But what a treatment, ive lived here for many years using the same papers, the only difference is that now im divorced with sole custody of my 10 yr old son. What if they by some reason only known to them give me a NO, do i get 15 days to pack up. Sell my car and motorcycle and what other things i own, get my boy ready for leaving. This feels like an lottery of kind as i know what power they can inflict upon you. I hope this is an short lived rule, and back to normal soon. Any others have experience that they phone you to come back before set time.

  9. My personal experience with this topic. Flying in to Auckland NZ in 1990, thats right 1990. Dont know what system they used then, but instantly red flag on immigration computer, refused entry. It went so quick that i had hard to understand how they had got info about small drug conviction in US and later deportation many years before. I spendt three days sleeping at the airport, talking to news channels and papers, having visit from ex wife and my five yr old son, getting faxed from Norway very good papers even from police and from my workplace about what a stand up citizen i had been and still was to sosiety since my brush with the law in US years before. A real sob story. The point. Immigration police told me that as soon as i bought the ticket from Singapore Air two months before travel at their office in Norway, the NZ Immigration Police knew i was coming. Anyway the appeal went all the way to Minister for Immigration, refused entry still and deportation, no consideration for small boy. My question, if they could get that kind og info then, what can they not get these days.

  10. I see some people feel the need to proclaim Pattaya as a peaceful wonderful place to live, i guess one have to say so with house and family there and maybe no possibility to move out. I came visit first time in 76 and have seen the change of this small fishing village from then and to what it is now. Can only say, not good not good. Scary place these days and in need of a tough clran up of street gangs, gangsters of every nationality, scams and killings. When the day come that the ordinary russian realize that this is not a place to take your family to, what then.....

  11. Having the last 10 or so yrs seen Koh Chang change from a relaxed beautiful place where one could drive from small village to village on the road out to Bang Bao. These days Koh Chang could be called a city all the way from the ferry and out to Bang Bao. The explotion of building of hotels, motels, bars and other buissneses along this road have been fenomenal. I hope the government would take a look at what have been buildt on public land on Chang as they have done other places. It would be a pity to loose this pearl og an island to commercial intrests only. And remember to pay your 40 Bth or so for parking your car at the entrance to the Bang Bao pier, if not the f...faces will let the air out of at least one of your cartyres. There must be some very strong forces in attendence at the island for letting this place go to shaite so one can only hope that the central goverment will use its full powers to clran up this place like it has done other places like down south or Kohrat and so one.

  12. Im sorry to hear about the trouble for the guy refused to enter Thailand again. But if we are discussing laws, the Thais have every right to deny him to travel to any other country than his home. The reason they do is as somebody mentioned before is because with a denied entry to Thailand in the passport, they are scared that any country he goes to will look at him as suspiciously and send him right back. That s why the only option is home country. I hope the immigration change their minds, but in Thailand it is the Thai immigration law that counts. In fact regarding entry into the kingdom, read about all the different visas one can obtain, it always end with, even with all papers in order it is still up to the individual immigration officer to grant or deny entry in to the kingdom. So in fact, if they dont like your face, a single immigration police can send u on your way. Getting a visa is not a right, it is a privilege.

  13. I think that actually it is not thai versus white. First of all a white foreign murder victim gets a lot more press, second the economy, the tourist sector will be hit hard so the police will be under immense pressure from the top to solve this, this kind of pressure is not good as we have already seen. Police splashing the pic of the young brit on all the worlds newspapers because he had some weeks old cut on his hand. I really feel for the families of the murder victims as more and more desperate rumours will appear as days passes without result.

  14. Does the negativity towards anything Thai and anything done by Thais never stop on Thaivisa??bah.gif

Why is it a loss of face, to ask a better equiped policeforce for help?

Thousands of Thais are murdered every year, but because the victims this time are Brits, we expect the world to stop.

Don't misunderstand me, a very horrible crime, but why are white victims considered more valuable, and all stops need to be pulled to solve this particular case?

  15. The number of foreign prisoners in Thai jails set to 200 pluss must be wrong, i bet u nigerians alone would be that number. I read in the papers 4-5 yrs ago that the thai government had rented a big jet to carry back pardoned and relrased afrikans back to their respective countries. Some of them had served from ten to 25 yrs. A hole bloody jet. And there was no drugcases and murdercases allowed on this flight. Since then about weekly one can read about africans from different countries beeing arrested for drugs, so come on, 200.

  16. The Colombians scouted rich housing estates to break in and steal valuables. Some of them also cracked bank safe boxes. Natee said the Mexicans, Guatemalans and Peruvians focused on car theft and stealing from houses, hotels and jewellery fairs.

To they really talked about the one case two years ago where they arrested a three Colombians. big crime gang..

If you compare 266 foreigners in prisons with how many thai are in foreign prisons tongue.png
