  1. Most complaints are best dealt with immediately. If you are in your hotel room, and something is wrong, Call the front desk right away, and make sure someone with hotel management knows about the problem. If your TV does not work, or room is dirty with bugs and you send a letter 2 weeks later, there is little the hotel can do about the problem.

If the front desk is unwilling to help, ask for someone in management. If your issue is serious enough, do not accept excuses. Of course, it is quite possible that a duty manager is not immediately available, in that case provide your personal details, and request that you be contacted within a reasonable time frame. Always make notes of who you are talking to, and what promises are made. If the duty hotel manager is unwilling to help, make sure you keep your notes, and photos, and follow up with your travel provider you booked with.

Remember to always keep your cool and give the hotel every opportunity to put things right.
  2. Interesting that banks from western countries cover the losses from fraud while Thailand banks do not.

Yes it is. That's why I have two accounts with one Thai bank. I simply go online and transfer the amount I want to withdraw from the ATM to the account with little to no money in it...

That is exactly what I do.

I have 2 accounts with SCB. One of them holds large amount of money and is non ATM account, so the only way to withdraw cash is a passbook and go into the bank or I transfer to my other SCB ATM CARD account online.

The same with my other 2 accounts with K bank. I only transfer what i need to withdraw and it's the safest way to not loose any money as it must be quite stressful losing cash and sometimes these Thai banks are very very unhelpful.

  3. Universal

The feed is for all Asia and they are based in Singapore. Yes they play old <deleted>, as do Fox and AXN.

    TRUE

Not worth the Baht and they are losing the EPL next season, so it will go downhill even more.

    Torrents

The way forward. You can download the latest tv shows, movies and all you pay is your internet package to your provider. In fact you can be your own tv station and play what you want, when you want!! So easy to set up, ask google to help you.tongue.png

  4. I fly in and out at least twice a month and I am very impressed at immigration and how much they have improved in the past year. I've never waited no more then 5 mins, with the exception of few weeks ago when i waited of 1 and half hours, when they only had 4 officers on duty and plane load of japan and Indian tourists crowed the area.w00t.gif

  5. "Mr.T Taxi" <[email protected]>

"Price is 1,200 Baht all included."

Correction: This is Pattaya-Don Mueang. The other way it's more (100-200 THB, not sure)

I will second this recommendation. MrT taxis are excellent and will take you either way. thumbsup.gif

    Me too.

They are very good and use them all the time - FYI I paid 1200 from DM to pattaya before and usually 1100 from Onnut to pattaya.

  6. To be fair, there are around 100,000 plus taxis in Bangkok , so i would expect some to horrible cheating little shits. I used them often and rarely have any issues day or night. The area in question soi 11 is a pain in the arse anyway - so i just avoid if possible when i'm out for a few beers.

If a taxi guy refuses to take me to my destination or wants to charge a fixed over inflated price - I just tell them no thank you and have a nice evening with a smile. I can wait to the next taxi driver to come along and accept my destination with the meter on. Life is too short to argue.

  7. I’m planning to visit Phetchabun for 3 days in July. I would prefer to fly up there – can anyone give me the best advice on what airport to travel to? I was thinking maybe flying to Udon Thai and then getting a bus to Phetchabun – would this be a easier way?

Last time I travelled in 2009 was via bus and it was from BKK and took almost 12 hours. I would like to avoid that if I can.Hi,

I’m planning to visit Phetchabun for 3 days in July.

If anyone could help me then it was kindly appreciated.

  8. Hi,

Due to expansion, I urgently need a member of staff (thai) to work in our mobile phone shop, in Bangkok.

    Hours 11am-9pm

Salary 7,000THB plus excellent commission and bonus.

English is helpful, but not essential.

Training can be given, if you not have experience. The candidate needs to have good time keeping skills and be able to work on own without supervision.

Please contact me by PM if you know anyone that may be interested.

  9. I assume you mean the place in Pattanakarn Road - the old Seri Center?

Yes it's open already but not all the shops are fitted out yet.

Very nice renovation, lot's of IT and Camera Shops on the 2nd Floor and several good restaurants on the 3rd including a branch of Hua Seng Hong, a very good Chinese Restaurant.

First Floor is mainly Fashion - some expensive looking shops, and a Gap outlet is sheduled to open soon.

The Ground Floor has the same layout and Stallholders as the old Seri Market, plus, at the other end of the building there is a very large Villa Market.

    Patrick

I wonder if it was just me, but did you notice the BIG sign and the spelling of Entertainment zone!!! I think they spelt it Edutainment Zone. Or maybe it's another strange word...

    That is very good news.

further to add- i saw this news story....

Pattaya, July 29,[PDN]: a veterinary student of the US Auburn University, temporarily studying in Japan, has been missing in Thailand since the middle of July. The university has sent representatives to help search for him in both Japan and Thailand .

Fox News reported, yesterday (July 28), that Michael, Griffin Harrie, a 29-year-old a veterinary student of the American Auburn University on a month-long study abroad programme, studying pathobiology at Iwate University, Morioka, Japan, apparently started on a sightseeing trip to Thailand on July 7 from Japan. The sightseeing tour was not sponsored by any organization and was a private venture.

He was picked up on security cameras in Suvarnabhumi International Airport on July 14 and was supposed to meet his parents in Tokyo on July 16, for a family vacation, but never showed up. His father, Paul Harrie, has been unable to contact his son and is currently appealing for help from the public.

"He was planning to use his study abroad experience to help prepare him for his next year of veterinary school," his father said in a statement released by Auburn University.

Mike Clardy, the Director of Communications at Auburn University told FOXNews.com that authorities do not suspect foul play and are treating his disappearance as a missing person case.

Michael Harrie, a native of Southern California 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs 175 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes. He wears eyeglasses. Two Auburn representatives travelled to Tokyo last week to meet with Harrie’s family and provide assistance. The Auburn University is working with police in Thailand and has been in contact with the consul general in Japan and the American Embassy in Thailand.

Anyone with information that might help in locating Harrie should call the Auburn University Department of Public Safety and Security at 001-334 844-8888.
