  1. it's also convenient to be right by Rama IV, which connect to Asok and can get you to an MRT station really quickly.

Is there a specific condo you're looking at?

Sukhumvit Plus is the place, right next to rama 4 and BTS. Theres a 70sqm 2 bedder for 25K, i'm thinking sh*t this is a serously good deal, place is brand new and an absolute stunner in terms of design and furnishing. Some people are telling me 'thats far too much to spend' i say 'go live in ladprao or ratchada then' but i seriously, honestly, truely can't find anything that even compares for any less that 30, and i've been apartment hunting for months. early-mid sukhumvit has studios for 20 - ridiculous. Plus i'm sick of riding motorcycles, its just flatout dangerous in this town. BTS is the way to do it forsure. Thanks for your comments, generally good things being said about Phrakanong.

  2. And yet another thread goes the way of so many, degenerating into a pissing contest between members who should know better. Submaniac for someone who claims Thai heritage and upbringing, along with knowledge of Thai culture, your responses are quite "Un-Thai".

Back to the OP, I think you probably have enough answers to make some choices now so do you reckon the mods should close the thread before there are death threats made?

Yo! Your right, I reckon its time to close this thread forsure. Thanks again midas for your advice, thanks submaniac for your extracurricular activity advice, I now know how to handle the jandle, no doubt you boys have probably saved my life. Cheers mizzi for your thoughts and advice! Thanks to all who posted - even the bullshit comments cos we all had a laugh. Best Regards to all, Ciao in BKK!

  3. Having read the page or two of posts following the move (arbitrary) to the teaching forum, I can't help but wonder if life was not getting a little stale in the teaching forum and you decided to move the thread there to spice up your area and attract some TV members that would otherwise not visit the teaching forum.

After all, there is nothing in the OP's thread title that mentions teaching, in fact he only mentions teaching in passing, as the proposed source of his income whilst living in Bangkok. He asks NO teaching in Thailand related questions at all in his OP and was really only looking for some tips as to where best to buy his booze, ciggies and green at the same time as asking about the appropriateness of his rent. So where does this fit in the teaching in Thailand forum? Methinks you, PB and the Cuban were bored and needed some new blood.

Cheers man. I've learnt alot in this forum and one thing's forsure, where ever you go one must be a fox in order to recognize traps cos someones always out to get ya. Be it Thai hookers, bangkok coppers, and TV members. Woot to Niccolo.

  4. Now that Mr. Prinz's little thread is here in the Teaching Forum, what shall we discuss? Please, nothing about penises or breasts or ex-wives.

So, Prinz, care to tell us your academic credentials, teaching experience, etc.? Whatcha think of Bloom's taxonomy, nobody fails in Thailand, 48 students in a classroom, the dress code, split schedules at language schools, etc.?

Hey, so far I've got a pretty good idea of what's going on. I have a law and business degree, dress code is formal so no doubt i'll be getting a haircut and wearing a shirt, black pants and black shoes everyday and be groomed, and I understand teachers are respected and judged heavily by their physical appearance. I know nothing of bloom's taxonomy and I'm aware nobody fails in Thailand and I disagree with this, nor can I do anything about this. I have friends who are teachers and have learned alot from them obviously as I have secured a job after hours of phone interviews. However i'm not a teacher and I admit I have alot to learn. But I am qualified enough to teach basic english and leave people who are willing to learn with a sound grasp of basic grammatical correctness. I believe my teaching methods will be heavily graphically based, concentrating mainly on oral english rather than written english. Thanks for your interest

  5. To the OP....

    1. The photo reminds me more of the famous Jack Nicholson "I'm a lunatic with a knife" photo....

    2. But please do post here on TV which language school you'll be teaching at, so we can be sure to advise everyone we know NOT to send any kids there.

    3. To post here about your "green" shows the unfathomable depths of your stupidity about Thailand.... Clueless twit....

    4. Feeling REALLY sorry for your future students... Thailand deserves better.

    5. With everything you talk about wanting to do lifestyle-wise, and spending half your monthly income on rent (assuming you do), you won't survive in BKK.

    6. I have absolutely no "hostility" here.... I'm enjoying my life just fine... But that's because I took the time to actually learn what I needed to know...before moving here, something you've obviously chosen to totally disregard.

Good luck.... Get to work on those lesson plans....

Thank you for the one piece of useful information you gave regarding rent. Just because im young, have a life, and like to have fun doesn't mean I would be a sh*t teacher, I'm native in english and french, have a degree in commercial law and international business and work extremely well with people of all ages and all abilities. Don''t judge someone by what they do in their private time, everyone has their secrets and you'd be naive and ignorant to comment on something you know so little about. My original post contained many questions, and as human beings we learn from peoples advice, comments and mistakes of our own. You won't find out which school I'll be working for. The students will be lucky to have me. You're an idiot. Look up hostility in the dictionary and reread your post, and the school provides lesson plans, this is reflected in my salary. Think mate, think.

  6. You sound as thick as 3 planks of wood , you come to BKK with your attitude , you are only looking for a problem , BKK is assuradly the place to get it . Take the huge chip off your shoulder and you "MAY' stand a chance , a very small one . Take the advise given by the posters , they LIVE HERE and know something you obviously do not , wish you luck arogant know it all .

advice is spelt with a C not an S, and assuredly is spelt with an E not an A. arrogant has two R's. so im not taking any advice from a dude who cant spell. at least your name is appropriate so ill give u that. everyone else is all good! thanks to all with encouraging comments!

  7. Women will be your biggest expence.

    Be it Thai or farang!!

yes ,that is where all ages are equal in thailand, we all pay !.even such a hunk as yourself :o ..although you might find a stoned smelly backpacker on khaosan road :D

ahaha man it takes one to pay and another to admit it, where i come from though ma man people arnt proud of it ahaa. dont worry bout me though bro ill manage.

  8. mmmm, ... You gonna make a lot of friends !

Obviously, you still need to learn, and I am afraid that lessons will be painful. Good luck anyway

Thank you. The question that has raised alot of attention (which is laugable) was supposed to be subtle, and to be honest, i thought many of you would understand the nature and fragility of the subject, not to mention the light heartedness of it - but many of u obviously don't. i didnt want it emphasized, what i was looking for was a simple PM. what is clear though is there are many immature instigators in this forum, and not as smart as they like to think. the only people making a big deal out of it are those 'chatting' about it. which concludes this post, this is a forum, not a chat room. do some people a favor and give them the advice theyre seeking rather than waste their time, and yours. I hope to meet some quality and fun people in bangkok, not a bunch of mid-life crisis loosers aha

  9. Yo! are you for real? "I like loud music" WHAT DO YOU THINK WILL HAPPEN WHEN YOU HAVE A NEIGHBOUR EITHER SIDE AND ABOVE AND BELOW?

You sound like and ideal tenant, noisy, a smoker, heavy drinker.................. they'll be queing up for you I should think.

I suppose you have a degree like most I know, but not an ounce of common sense........ you'll fit in just fine here

I do like your English skills by the way, you should be very well suited to teaching Bangkok Engrish........... green?????? OH dear!! :o

i dont understand what's wrong with a little honesty, but one things forsure, your obviously not my age aha. but im not interested in an internet quarrel. heres a bit of honesty for u, u sound as straight as a plank of wood, and as boring as one as well

  10. I sure hope the OP does not become "poster boy" representative of the foreign teachers in Thailand.

Based on his questions, I wonder if he has even been here? Probably not.

my mum lived in thailand, india and bangladesh for 8 years, thats why ive been offered an apartment, so yes ive been there before. haha assumptions are the mother of all <deleted> ups. whos getting schooled now

  11. Yo! Im heading over to bangkok in about 2-3 weeks to work for a language school for 12 months. I believe ill be earning around 30-35000 baht to begin with. My question is, is this enough to live? i like having a good time and im keen to stay in a nice pad and live close to the skytrain, as ill be working in the centre. A family friend has offered me a dope studio apartment in central bangkok for 13000 per month, its got a pool gym fully furnished separated wireless net big plasma screen cable and stuff. is this kosha? how much should i be spending on accommodation? how much do beers cost out on the town? how much do dozen packs of beer cost? how much does food cost per day? im not that fussy with food but remember that im white so i need some degree of quality. what does the skytrain cost per month? i like to listen to loud music and play guitar, will this be a problem in an apartment? how much do i need for a good enough night life? and finally how much do ciggies cost? what about green? is it easy to find? any advice or your thoughts and recommendations are totally appreciated. if anyone has similar interests and feels my steeze u may email me privately. thanx to all in advance! oh and if anyone wouldnt mind another tenant in their place let me know! heres a picture of me, and im 24.
