  1. Hey

Lived in CM for 18 months from 2008-2010 and coming back between the dates of 8-20 april to see a few remaining friends and experience song kran again! trouble is the prices we are coming up against as opposed to the prices I know we could get it if we were there in person. I know its the height of the tourist season and the prices are going to be high anyway, but dont want to just turn up on the fly without anything booked, we'll have a 6 month old baby with us this time!

    so...

anyone know of any nice, clean short term rental accomodation for 12 nights in CM? Needs to house 2 adults, one child and a baby.

    thanks for looking.

    Ian

  2. staying near kao san, as its cheap, but not going anyhwere near there, we hate that area with a passion.

gonna check out RCA, and parts of sukhumvit, maybe quickly duck into nana just to see what all the fuss is about...

last time we were in BKK, we went to a restaurant called bali laos, anyone know where this is??

  3. Thanks!!!

would like somewhere that plays decent dance music [house/deep house, ambient, DnB] as it is really dry on the music front up here in CM. Want to have decent bender and dance. its our first weekend on the tiles for nearly a year!!

Is Bed uber trendy though? paeng mak mak?

  4. Hey

Lived in CM since August, have only visited BKK to meet friends/family when coming to visit, then done the usual tourist places. Have been before a few years ago, but my partner has a 6 year old, so we haven't yet indulged in a night out.

We have a sitter for the weekend, and want to have a banging night out, and as its such a massive place, was wondering if anyone could give us a heads up of the hot and not places to go.

    Thanks

  5. Does anyone know when and where any genuine Muay Thai fights takes place?

The place down Loi Kroh is funnier than Bill Hicks, and the one across from Taphae, well I wouldn't know.... :)

I have heard of a place near the train station, but that's it.

anyone have any ideas or suggestions please?

    Thanks

  6. I'm meeting my mum at the airport, and low on funds, and I need to know the cheapest way to get to it, as she will pay the taxi fare back!!

Been living in CM since August, and my teaching hours have dwindled to hardly any at all, hence the low fundage.

Is there a bus that the thais use, that is cheap?

Could anyone please help me out?

    thanks

  7. I have been told by a few sources that it is possible to find really cheap mopeds at a market in Hang Dong. [sundays]

I have been told you can snap them up from as little as 2-3k? Is this true or are they just chatting kaka?

Supposedly they are so cheap because they come without a plate etc etc

can someone shed some light on this please?

    Thanks

  8. This is quite fitting.

I went to the tourist police on Faham road, the same branch Mr Ambrose visited. I went after being duped out of 10,000 baht by a dodgy landlord, hoping the police could help me in some way [they could not]

Whilst I was there, and after striking up a convo with the police man who spoke very good English, told me of a 'stupid' English man who had tried to make him look stupid, by trying to file a fraudulent insurance claim, saying that he had gone away on a trip only to return to find his camera, mp3 player and mobile phone had been 'lost or stolen'. The Thai policeman said he encounters this kind of story all the time, and could smell something was amiss.

On the wall is a big plaque that reads - any person knowingly witholding information, will be arrested.

Said Policeman, took great pride and pleasure of leafing through the statement file, to show me a statement, and also a written apology from one Christopher Ambrose, of Telford England, stating how he was sorry to have wasted the police's time, and that he really regretted making the story up...

I really cannot believe this has come to light, as I have been telling people this story, purely out of the sheer lack of data protection I am so used to in the UK.

Why would anybody who owns a mobile phone, mp3 player and camera, on his 'much anticipated, two year in the making holiday' go away for three days, and not take these items with them?? I know I would be taking mine with me.....

I'm sorry, but I know this is a load of <deleted>. Insurance scam as plain as day.

  9. Me and my missus moved into one of the corner apartments when we first arrived in CM. We settled for a 3 month contract, as we knew that after that period we would have a better grasp of the city, and find somewhere much, much cheaper. We had to get a 2 bed place as her son is here with us.

We regret taking the contract now as it is very expensive, we thought we could handle it, and cant wait to get our 50k bond back!!

The apartment is very nice, nice view but the internet is very very s l o o o w
