  1. My wife saw a program on tv about new CCTV regulations starting June 1st.

Now it seems that you need a sign well visual to the public that they’re in a CCTV area for the camera outside of your home. You even need a sticker or sign in your car when you have a dash cam. Not sure what to do with the action cam on my helmet, maybe put a sign at the back of my helmet? Sharing images of people without their consent is not allowed any more, especially the ones of police that screw you over for tea money. Does any one have more information and will Thai people care a F%#k about this?

most foreigners that come to Thailand are tourists and this requirement is covered by the hotel that they stay at...for any IO to require a foreigner with a yearly marriage or retirement extension of stay (for which there is an extensive and intrusive application process) to report simply reveals themself as a dolt or a corrupt and malicious individual who abuses his power...

Prayuth’s crackdown on corruption is obviously working, now immigration is enforcing ridiculous laws so they can steel our money legally as these laws have no influence on keeping the bad guys out but they’re just harassing the good guys.

  3. Thank you for your reply and help.

I found out what the problem caused, at home I use USB tethering with my mobile phone, no problems what so ever.

At school, I use wifi and the network there must have been setup badly, because when I use USB thetering again the links open normally. I tried to talk with the computer teacher who's responsible for the network, but he doesn't speak a word of english. No problem, I was about to format my notebook and reinstall windows, fortunately now I know there is no need to do that, because the problem is not with me.

    Thanks, Frans

  4. Thank you for your reply. I installed google Chrome to see if the links would work in there, even copy and paste do not work and leave a blank page, so it's not a browser problem but probably something that went wrong in the register, or in the windows system. Not being able to open these links is more of an inconvenience than a problem, and only happens with thaivisa links. The links in "Best of Thailand forum" work just fine. I will mess around with it for a while to see if I can find a solution, and in the worst case just reinstall windows.

    Thank you for your time.

  5. After automatic updating of windows XP, yes I know, but it still works great on this old notebook, I can't open the links in mails from "Breaking News" of Thai visa in Fire fox any more, and they look like this,

At home I use a similar notebook with the same windows version, XP SP3 with Firefox as the default browser and that doesn't have the problem after the same updates. It are only the links in the breaking news mails, links in other mails still work. Does anyone have an idea what happened and how to solve it?

I did virus checks and restored it to an earlier date from before the updates, all without positive results. I also tried the online version of outlook.com, but those links also don't open in this computer. In the past I had a problem with e-mail links because Chrome hijacked the links without being the default browser but that is not the case any more.

  6. The 3g modems from cat are now on sale and still cost 6500thb. The speed over the past one and a half year that I'm using the loader subscrption, is very variable, but an everage of 250 kilobyte downspeed is not enough for the 840thb, tax included. Unfortunately I have no other choice at the moment. I have to admit that the connection is quite reliable, no problems getting connected.

  7. Every year the farmers here in the village are told at local meetings not to burn down their rice fields or to start fires in the mountains, but they just don’t listen and they don’t care. They do what they always did and that is to burn down everything and never take responsibility.

  8. I've also been searching for a manual but there's no English version available, I guess because the Kawasaki boss is typical Thai made, and was only meant for the Thai market, if there's a manual it'll be in Thai. Due to very bad experiences with Thai mechanics I prefer to do as much as possible myself and if you ask one of these mechanics about the valve clearance specs, all of a sudden they don't understand you anymore.

  9. They also checked bikes in the tiny district of Pa-det (Changrai)and fined quite a few people, mostly Thai and at least one farang. The fines for Thai were about THB 25000 and the Farang had to pay THB 80.000. They weren't interested in my Kawasaki Boss though!

  10. Yes, Garro should definitely be proud of himself. From reading his posts it's obvious that he is serious about teaching and cares about his students. But being qualified does not always guarantee this, there are many qualified people out there who are teaching just because they are qualified, not because they can teach!

I fully agree with you, there are many qualified teachers out there who miss the motivation to do a good job.

(Hey Im not native English and not a teacher)
