The hospitals would be full, like in the Western countries but they aren't.

Here in Denmark, we opened almost fully up by September. 11 weeks ago. And still we only have 267 people hospitalised with covid. We are six million people in this country. Would you call that "full"?

There is a reason we are treated to a non-stop flow of nonsense. The whole world-wide covid response is fully overblown and the narratives are being controlled very tightly by centralised organisations. When you try to control and suppress, sooner or later you end up with absurdity.  I have no idea when any of this will cease,  and what's to stop them pulling another corona out of their asses and repeating the whole shebang?   A situation we all thought would last a few months is now clearly going to last more than one year and beyond...   The possibility that this may go on for years without end does not sit well with me.  How long will you, personally, tolerate the nonsense?

    Not a second longer!

You mean Dr Fauci is an idiot who doesn't know what he's talking about, when he says that the cold storage would have challenges even in the developed world, and you know it better?

    https://finance.yahoo.com/news/cold-storage-challenges-could-hamper-164654773.html

Anthony Fauci, director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, on Wednesday said it would be challenging to distribute vaccines that use messenger RNA based technology in developing countries, owing to their cold storage requirements.

In a country like the UK and the United States we can address them and it still would be challenging. But, probably much more challenging in countries in the developing world," Fauci said at the Financial Times' global pharmaceutical and biotechnology conference.

It was the same answer Galileo got in the renaissance, when he told the church that our Earth is not the center of the universe. The bishops knew better ????

what a wonderfully simplistic, and fatalistic,  view you have of the whole situation. Everyone in control is obviously far stupider than you. I’m shocked you’ve gone no further in life than imparting your wisdom to us, the unworthy TV members. Thank you!

You are most welcome to enlighten me, Mister Wise. I strongly doubt you can, but you are welcome to try.

The best approach is what they are actually doing now .

Testing , quarantine , and testing again before allowing tourists to move freely around the country .

If they just limited it to this, it would certainly be a lot better. But they don't. You need to show that you have minimum half a million baht on your bank account, two different sorts of insurance, pre-paid quarantine hotel, tracking wrist band a'la Orwell 1984, and a million other things that I cannot remember now. If they just has two or three tests and 10 day quarantine, but unfortunately the control has gone completely berserk!

I think no chance whatsoever of achieving those figures but you advocating extreme poverty and 25% loss of GDP according to latest international figures is better?

This is going to lead to robberies, riots and civil unrest and it's going to get worse.

Ridiculous to say a risk not worth taking.

    100% agree!

You do not seem to understand that opening the country to potentially infected tourists from Europe or the US or India , is a risk that is not worth taking .

Do you think that tourism will be back to the 40 million from 2019 ?

The unrealistic dreamer is YOU .

You do not seem to understand that 8000 children extra die every day from staration, and hundreds of millions are sinking into deep poverty. Many, many more will die from hunger, than is saved from the so-called covid death.

We are most likely talking about 'Mission: Impossible 2,' here.

Those "bla bla per million" figures are all very theoretical. The very first tourist who will come in and somehow infect Thais surely will cause quite a storm, either way.

I hope that that storm will really come soon. Because then they Thais can see that the covid really is not a fraction as dangerous as they think.

I doubt it will be approved the WHO recommends 14 days minimum so stick with that till a vaccine is available. Safely first it’s only the desperate people wanting it reduced to 10 days or less.

You really believe the WHO is a trustworthy organisation????????

    I don't!!

If you’re not wanting 14 days quarantine, you’re not wanting 10 days. Makes sod all difference to anyone contemplating a holiday which would be typically 2-3 weeks.
    Think again.

To me, personally, I would never accept 14 days, but am likely to accept one week. So, at least to some, 10 days would be more attractive. But still very few would come, sure.

  11. Well, I actually think, after all these statements from Thai authorities, statements that reveal a certain mentality with regards to foreigners, that Thailand's reputation is somewhat harmed, and that this will reduce the number of tourists, coming to the kingdom, for a long time post-covid. But actually I think many Thais and some people in power in the country like that. They don't want these huge numbers of tourists coming to the country, as has been predicted. 2019's 40 million is already too much. They are getting tired of us. I think so.

Is that in any way fair, if a tested and quarantined western tourist gets the disease from a Thai or a Chinese tourist in Thailand.  Do they want tourists to come and save Thailand or not?

They want contradictory things, simultaneously. I think they people in power are fighting a lot. Looks so. Must be so. In order to mass tourism to come back, more clarity is needed, as potential tourists risk losing lots of money.

Please stop complaining or making fun of the Thai government as they try so hard to contain this very deadly disease, this pandemic. They just care about all of us.
According to the CDC, this is the actual Infection Fatality Ratio:

    • 0-19 years: 0.00003
    • 20-49 years: 0.0002
    • 50-69 years: 0.005
    • 70+ years: 0.054

As I'm in the group "50-69", does this mean that 5 out 100,000 people in this segment are going to die from this super lethal disease?

I really hope, this high number - 5 - is a massive exaggeration! I'm seriously scared now.

In mentally terrible situations like this, it always helps me a lot if I go and I sit on my scooter for a little ride to relax.

"The scenarios are intended to advance public health preparedness and planning.  They are not predictions or estimates of the expected impact of COVID-19. "

If I want to be tracked like this, I will take a vacation in North Korea or China.  There is no way most tourists will accept to be tracked and treated like this, just for the "privilege" to visit Thailand.  There are other vacation destinations that are open and tourists will choose those destinations which impose the least restrictions.  As an American, I am off to Miami in ten days and in February, I'm off to Mexico.  No COVID test, no quarantine, no COVID insurance and no tracking bracelet required.  Thailand will lose out on tons of tourist money due to the excessive requirements, as people will go to other counties.

    Spot on!

It's not about deaths, it's about avoiding overloaded ICU in the hospitals.

Ah, so deaths mean nothing ???? I see.

And you don't see a correlation between deaths and hospitalisations?

Denmark has had nearly no restrictions for the past two months (yesterday got some), and has 125 hospitalisations right now, 18 in intensive care, 6 in respirator.

Exactly what planet are you from? Care to do just a little bit of research before you claim anything?

    Jesus!
