  1. We are looking into open up a Ltd company. We have found a lot of good info on this forum but cant find the answer to one question we have.

Does the money you have to invest in the company as shares (cant remember exactly how much it is) have to stay on an account in the bank or can it be used in the company as investments etc?

  2. I agree, if you are a tourist in Thailand you avoid the trouble in BKK. If you end up being in it because your hotel is close by to the trouble, you either stay indoors or you check out and leave.

My husband was supposed to go to BKK on his way back home this friday, he is now staying put where he is until the day he has to go to the airport in BKK. You just dont take any chances for a bit of shopping!!!!

  3. I dont think anyone can tell you jingthing how things are going to be in 2 weeks time. My husband was in BKK up until wednesday, he stayed very close to Central World, it was full of redshirts, and some dep stores were closed, but no prob. Now he his due back to BKK in 5 days, is in Pattaya but is not sure if he can even get into BKK, we just have to wait and see.

  4. Sweden is like Switzerland. They like neutrality. They have no backbone. Look how they cooperated with the Nazis and you get the picture.

I don´t think this is the forum to discuss what Sweden did or did´t do under WW2

Why not? It shows a pattern. A non-wishy washy country would have arrested Thaksin and sent him back to Thailand or at the very least deny entry to a wanted criminal fugitive. Do you think Thaksin would dare to fly into the USA with his ticky tacky passports?

What pattern? Example! Thaksin come to sweden with a passport from Montenegro. He is not wanted by Interpool. So they can´t deny entry. But he was very quick to leave Sweden. I think lot can be done behind the curtain.

Being Swedish (Sweden with one e by the way...) I have to agree that they were way out of order during WW2. Norway still holds that against us you know. That is not to say that the politics of Sweden is the same today!!! Maybe something was done behind the curtain but the official statement from Sweden was according to EU and Swedish law. Well done Sweden.

By the way lutfisk is lovely.

  5. I am planning to go to BKK in about 2 weeks. How safe is it at the moment? I was there when the trouble started sept 08 and didnt notice any violence etc. Is the situation similar to what happened then or is it more like last year?

    Thanks

  6. My husband is allergic to gluten and one of the reasons we go to Thailand on holidays is because most of the food is glutenfree. All noodles part from egg noodles are gluten free. Rice is ofcourse gluten free. He can eat the normal bread and pastries in Thailand so we thought they were made of rice flour. Are we wrong?

  7. I want to go to Phuket w my family for 1 year. I am really keen to learn Thai and I want to enroll on a Thai language course for a year. If I get a Ed Visa will my husband and my two children (they have left school) get a 1 year non immigrant visa to stay with me? We are trying to work out the best way for all of us to stay in Phuket for a year and as I would learn Thai anyway we thought this would be the easiest thing for us to do.

  8. It is more expensive to walk in, even if the times are bad. The hotels have deals with these internet sites and the staff at the hotel cant give you discounts. We have booked from home this time, will also be there in august. We dont want to waste time looking for deals when we are there. We got some really really cheap prices on very good hotels this year. Try expedia.com.

  9. Thanks all for your helpful replies.

My boys will probably laugh at my worries and enjoy the attention from the ladies. :)

I have lived here in Phuket for several years and enjoy sailing. A good outdoor healthy activity for teeenagers, I have been sailing since I was boy and still thoroughly enjoying it in my sixties.

We have two yacht clubs here, one in Ao Yon near Panwa, the Phuket Yacht Club, mainly for dinghies.

The other and bigger with brand new modern club house is Ao Chalong Yacht Club. This club caters for big yachts and holds fortnightly racing. Several members have quite big yachts so are always looking for crew. Also we have a quite big selection of racing multihulls, including the high speed Firefly for those that enjoy something more exciting.

The ACYC is situated down a dirt road almost opposite Flints One Bakery, same road as ao Chalong Bungalows.

Thank you! Will keep that in mind.

None of that comes up when I google. Is it because I dont live in Thailand? I live in Cyprus at the moment.

Thanks. Didnt think about surfing. Rock climbing sounds good but maybe a bit far away...

Thanks for the warning about the girls, we already know as we have been with the boys before. It's funny for me and my husband but the boys get a bit fed up with it specially as they are both tall and blond!! :)

  12. Hi!

We are thinking of going to Phuket for a year. We have two teenage boys that will have left school but still need something to do. We are thinking of music(guitar) lessons, art lessons, sports(diving) etc.

We are thinking of studying Thai for a year. We have read that you can get a one year ed visa if you do. I have tried to google all of these things but cant find anything. Can someone help me?

  14. Its the economy. I live in Cyprus and its the same here, no tourists etc and this is our high season... NOTE we have had no swineflue so far....

People dont get put off by all the things you mention because we in Europe hardly ever hear about what is going on in Thailand, part from when the main political fighting etc is going on. I only found out about the swineflue outbreak in this Forum, not mentioned at all in the papers here or on the BBC etc.

By the way am going to BKK and Phuket in August, to get away from the tourists :)
