Hi Brian, From the bridge over the canal to the bottom of the doi is dirt. So I think you were on the right way when you turned back. It's about one km of dirt, easily to be done with your car. Then the concrete starts. Sometimes at the top there are many soi dogs. They make a lot of noise but are OK especially if you bring some snacks. Just warn your dog that he will have company. My Monkey made it up alright. R'tje

Hi Basso, You can drive up there. Road is hand pored concrete. I've seen sedans up there but I would only do it with a 4x4 since the last part is steep. I've been up a couple of times with my scooter and dirt bike. Nice ride and beautiful views. I've also hiked the doi. There are at least 5 ways to reach it by foot. If you want to make pictures go by foot! Google will not guide you to the top but if you put 18.6703708, 99.1838176 in your GPS you will be at the start of the road that leads to the doi. PM me if you need more info. R'tje

Old bores on small bores
Who would be interested in a motor ride once or twice weekly. This would be for smaller bikes/scooters. Purpose is to ride around Chiang Mai, see the sites, have a meal etc. Mostly paved roads, if needed some dirt roads but no hardcore enduro. And yes, we can do the Samoeng loop but maybe once in a while we can do something more off the beaten track and/or original. During the rides we will try to assess new members. What speed are they comfortable with etc. As a rule of thumb the slowest rider will set the pace until everybody else is fed up, races ahead and leaves him somewhere in a national park. Let me know if you want to come along and go where many went before. Everyone is welcome (regardless of gender). Cheers R’tje PS. I know there are many facebook groups for organizing rides but either they are focused on other places, off road riding, bigger bikes, or overrun with advertisements (btw I have plant pots for sale). This post is dedicated to Captain Slash, the most prolific rider of them all. I still enjoy some of the trails he posted and still re-read his posts.

Aesthetically pleasing roof
Many thanks. This was the info I was hoping for. I don't want my wife or me f ing on a 8 meter high roof. I'd rather have a professional crew with right equipment do that.

Aesthetically pleasing roof
My apology. I noticed my original post was not clear. They nest underneath the Thai style roof. So even removing the gutters will not stop them from doing that.

I thought this was the Chiang Mai forum?

Aesthetically pleasing roof
We tried our best to put netting to make the shaded areas not accessible but the job is too dangerous for my wife and myself. Leave one opening and they will enjoy our reluctant hospitality. Hence my request for a professional company.

Aesthetically pleasing roof
The local and not so local pigeons love to live and die on our rooftop. We have regularly enough nests, manure, carcasses etc in our gutters to start a composting business. Looking for a company or team that can help put netting at these places were the birds gather to chill out. And yes, we already tried lasers, fake snakes, fireworks, mother in law etc. Nothing scare these pets away because it is such a nice roof. If you can point me to any company that has experience with fixing netting to roofs I would really appreciate it. Cheers R'tje
