  1. Hi all,

I have a question for you guys.

I am a UK national and i have an 8 yr old daughter born here in Thailand who has a UK passport.

Me and my ex are divorced and we have 50-50 custody of my daughter, however she stays with me permanently because her mum lives in Sweden with her new husband.

My question is this: If i wanted to take my daughter back to the UK to live would she be accepted into the schooling system if i didn't have her birth certificate and permission from her mum?

(As her mum has her birth certificate and i have no way of getting in touch with her)

    All answers greatly received.

    Thanks.

  2. I have a very simple answer to this!!!!!!!!! Whenever hiring a taxi at Suvarnabhumi airport never go to the taxi rank! Before the taxi driver even discusses a price the rank have taken 500bt!

So the answer is simple, go to departures! Where you will see lots of taxi's dropping off customers and have nowhere to go! So are all in need of your custom.

I personally live in Hua Hin so it takes about 3hrs to get home, the official rank want to charge me 2,500-3,000bt! The taxi's at departures cost me 1,500 if you are really willing to haggle maybe cheaper!

    Simples!!!

  3. I live in Hua Hin and i'm thinking about getting this is it even available here? I have my desktop rigged up to my tv so would this be a good system? I currently have CTH but only use it for football (EPL) 900bt a month seems a little too expensive just for footy. How much is this? And where do i sign up? All i get is a sign in page in Thai!

  4. I live in Hua Hin and i remember when my daughter was born i had over 50 people sending cards and gifts via normal post and nothing arrived whatsoever! Since then i always say to friends/family use EMS and since then i receive everything. However it seems pretty pointless to send a birthday card which costs 2 pound and costs 5 pound to send!!

  5. A much weaker Baht would bring tourists back in their droves and all the houses and condominiums that are being built and remain unsold would sell!! Obvious really.

completely agree! i don't think it's nothing to do with the fact we had a few people running round with sticks in bkk! it's like that in most area's of the uk anyways for gods sake! it's all to do with the baht being so strong, i had all the family over for my wedding not to o long ago and they could'nt beleive how exspensive it was they were telling me they heard everything was so cheap here, so i explained it is nothing has changed pricewise its just because the baht is so strong and the pound is weak, of course their reply was well why should we come half way round the world on a 14hr flight with screaming children when it's just as cheap on a 3hr flight to spain or the canary islands? to which i had no answer, also my mum and dad came for 2months travelling around and spent more money than travelling round europe for 3 months last year!

  6. i read somewhere the primeminister did'nt trust the police enough to look after asia's leaders when they had the summit in pattaya so he decided to make his own security arrangements, sure enough when all the trouble started the police were nowhere to be seen and his special commando's wearing all black even balaclavas and sunglasses(must have been very hot) made all the arrangements to ferry everyone to safety good bit of forward thinking by the pm i thought!

now, i was watching the news when the red shirt leaders gave themselves up at the police hq and sure enough the balaclava clad commando's were there again obviously in charge bossing the police around, and for a few seconds i knew why they were wearing balaclava's as one of them pulled it over his head to reveal he was a farang! so the primeminister has to hire farang security to protect him from thai people? how ironic that the same people who are protecting him he makes life so hard for in thailand! :o

  7. Lastly your wife needs to accompany you for the initial application plus your children if you have any.

Wife needs to be with you for all applications for extension of stay based on marriage. Believe you mean wife does not have to be with you for pick up after 30 day under consideration stamp?

jeepers creepers where are you all at? in hua hin i just go there with my marriage certificate bank book and tabien baan mrs id card! dont even have to take the mrs 1,900bt 10mins all over!

  8. thonglor's a lovely area lived there myself for a couple of years yeah there's ome good bars and pubs the restaraunts might be a bit upper endish now but ekkamai is just through the side soi's and there its cheap and of course the bts is just at the top of thonglor rd, so go for it mate you won't regret living there also if you get into any trouble or need help for anything i found tl police station to have possibly the most helpfull cops in thailand !!!

  9. typical cowards as soon as they realize they have a real fight on their hands with the army coming in the same numbers as them they turn and run off back to their buffalo's why? because they're scared for the safety of the protesters! they were'nt concerened about the publics safety when they were setting fire to peoples houses and throwing petrol bombs! it makes me sick these uneducated people who will say and do anything anyone tells them to do (i.e toxin) for a few baht.

the government now has them all on buses to do with what they want why don't they turn all the buses round and take them to ban kwang? i think it's absolutly disgracefull what they have done supposedly in the name of thailand don't talk s..t! in the name of thaksin more like !!!!!!!

  10. He could always go to Australia. He was there not so long back.

    No he couldn't.

The last time he was there was under a different government, and before he was a convicted criminal.

He has business and property interests there. Rudd may take him thousands wouldn't.

So is that a comment on Rudd, or your "understanding" of current visa policy in Australia? Please show your cards.

He owns property in Australia, which does not entitle him to a visa. As a "businessman" he may be more successful, but I am sure that would be overidden by the fact that he is a convicted criminal in a country with which Australia has close diplomatic and economic ties.

As far as I am aware, Australia has no history of (knowingly) harbouring villains from other countries.

apart from a 3rd of the english population some time ago!
