I found the exact one I need on Amazon , but I have never ordered anything in Thailand from Amazon. I looked at Amazon international and they do not have a Thai section.

I do have Amazon Prime, and bank accounts in the US, and Use them extensively when I am in the US. How do I order something from Amazon with my Thai account.?

Go to your USA account and add a second mailing address, your Thai one.  Then select it as where you want the item to ship to.  Then do another search for the Roku remote. If the seller will ship to Thailand you will see it as available to purchase. If they won't ship to Thailand you won't see it in your search listings.  Easy.

I found out that my credit union has a no fee debit card, so now I deposit my payments into my credit union and withdraw whatever money I need (up to the amount limits set by my credit union which currently is $5K) at the teller/counter (to avoid Bangkok Bank ATM withdrawal limits) of Bangkok Bank. The conversion rate I have been receiving from Bangkok Bank has been the TT rate which was the same rate I was getting when depositing my retirement payments directly into my Bangkok Bank account. AND, on the back end of these debit withdrawals, being a MasterCard debit card, I receive the MC foreign currency exchange rate which is always (so far), better than the TT rate. Meaning, when I go into Bangkok Bank to withdraw $1,000 USD using my debit card, I receive in baht the money based on the TT rate and in a few days the actual withdrawal charge applied to my credit union account is less than $1,000.

Just curious, does Bangkok Bank charge a fee to do the over the counter withdrawl or is it free? Also, did you have a problem getting them to do this? I was in my BB branch one time and I witnessed someone trying to do this and the teller refused and told them to use the ATM machine.

U Tapao to Pattaya centre is not much of a problem but going back the other way can be expensive and a pain in the backside, especially if you are flying back to CM as the main flight s a ridiculous hour in the morning. Overall I think Swampy is easier and more convenient on the Pattaya outward leg.

That 6:30 a.m. flight is ridiculous, however three days a week (Sun, Wed, Fri) they have a second flight that leaves UTP at 16:20 (changes to 17:25 later in the year or early next year) which is good.

As for getting to UTP, I use a company called Crane Company. They will pick you up at your residence in Pattaya and take you to U-Tapao for 250 baht per person. You have to text them to make a reservation.

I don't understand the whining about difficulty with international travel from CM.  I think it's brilliant and much better than Pattaya, which doesn't even have an airport, right?

Pattaya has U-Tapao airport which is a 45 minute drive southeast from downtown Pattaya. Air Asia has non-stop flights from UTP to CNX, UTH and HDY in Thailand and also some flights now to China. :( Air Asia plans to make this a hub and will add more flights when the new terminal is finished. Flying from UTP is much more convenient than going to Don Mueang or even Swampy.

  5. Well, it seems that the powers that be have changed their minds.

I flew back into Don Muang last night and tried to get on the free shuttle to Suvarnabhumi by showing my inbound boarding pass from the Air Asia flight I just arrived on. NO GO!

The desk agent wanted to see an onward boarding pass for a flight departing Suvarnabhumi. When I told him I didn't have one, he asked me where I was going. I replied Pattaya, and he sent me to the A1 bus (30 baht) that goes to the skytrain or Mochit bus terminal. sad.png

  6. I renewed my motorbike tax and insurance about three weeks ago.

On Saturday morning beginning at 9:00 a.m. (until 1:00 p.m. ? I think) the motor vehicle department sets up a table at the Big C (South Pattaya Rd & Sukhumvitt Rd). You go upstairs and as you are entering Big C go along the aisle between the cashiers and the small retail shops and you will see the table.

They couldn't sell me insurance and they sent me over across the street to AA Insurance (also opens at 9:00 on Saturdays) to get the insurance. AA charged me the actual price plus a 20 baht service charge. I then went back to Big C and purchased the tax sticker. Save time and go to AA Insurance first.

    Very easy.

  7. Well, if the OP is wanting something comparable to the Nana Hotel, staying in a 500 baht place behind the Wrong Way isn't going to cut it. I think the best option for him is still the Laithong/Ant Bar combo.

  8. I see, the hotel looks okay actually. So what do local farang do to entertain themselves?

Well, I think many stay home alot. The Wrong Way Bar is an expat hangout but there are no hotels nearby. Also, the Outside Inn Guesthouse has great food, be sure to check it out. It is also a good place to stay. Taxis are plentiful and cheap. They always use their meters.

  9. I use my Roku to watch MLB baseball games. I pay $125 per year for a subscription purchased on the MLB website and I can watch all games includung all playofff games and the World Series with no blackouts.

How are the MLB streams for you?

No matter what device I use (Roku, PC, phone, tablet, Chromecast), I get frustrated with buffering. Very disappointing compared to NFL Gamepass, which is mostly rock solid - I think due to their use of servers in Japan.

Last year I lived in Hua Hin and the condo complex I lived in didn't have strong wi-fi. There was constant buffering and the watching the games wasn't that good. I think if I had my own dedicated internet feed I would have been okay.

I moved to Pattaya last month and the community wi-fi is much stronger. I have very little buffering. When I do have it, it continues for several minutes and I suspect it is due to a neighbor trying to Skype or something. After awhile it goes away.

What do you pay for NFL Gamepass, and are you able to watch games once they have been completed, such as the next day or later in the week?
