  1. Poor old Mark is probably feeling forgotten and negelected, his old deputy has become the junta's lap dog, his old opponent Yingluck is still in the headlines with her trial, hell even her older, on the run brother that hasn't been in the country for years still gets more headlines.

You are a complete shill mark, step aside and let someone else have a go.

  2. I haven't read all the posts yet but I have seen a lot of blame put on the quality of the Thai teachers.

I would like to put just as much blame on the students themselves.

Some simply don't have the right attitude for learning . They turn up without books, play around with their mobiles, iPads or whatever.

They know they can't fail at university level.

The students that want to speak English well make an effort to learn. They are active in listening outside class. They read, they speak and can learn to speak English well even if the teachers aren't up to scratch.

The whole education system needs a shake up. You can employ the world's best English teachers but if the students' attitudes aren't changed it won't make any difference.

I think the students are the biggest victim of the system. Some of them are nonchalant and don't care because they know they can't fail. That's the systems failure, not the students.

  3. Another news article that the junta cheerleaders, in their swatches and puce flats, will just pointedly ignore.....

Ah, the sound of silence is deafening.

Oh I don't know. EnglishJohn was in another thread about this basically saying this journalist deserved it for 'goading' the NCPO and something about red shirts. He seems very desperate.

Where is djjamie? Haven't seen him in a long time. Looks like he disappeared after saying the BKK bombings were definitely red shirts...funny that.

  4. Even the yellow rag is getting fed up of this now.

What was his crime? Saying he and others weren't happy in Prayuth's supreme land of happiness?

Pravit is a long time red shirt. He been publishing articles in The Nation for many years. The Nation publishes opinion pieces from red shirt authors on a regular basis. Of course anything other than parroting 'Voice of Thaksin' 100% of the time is a 'yellow rag' for many here

I don't know whether he is or not, still it makes little difference. Are you denying that overall The Nation is biased? It clearly is.

  5. If Prayuth went down there, cracked skulls, caught the real murderers of two innocent tourists, locked up the murderers, put them families on try for illicit activities and took away their land I'd take him a LOT more seriously.

Has he done it? No. He publicly endorsed the farce of a police investigation. Why? The village headman is very good friends with an influential southern politician who is owed a lot of favours.

Cleaning up corruption my white farang hide!

  6. "Computer Crime Act and Article 112 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum five-year imprisonment"

It looks like the "Article 112" part of the alleged offence is deemed minimal, as LM can easily get you 15 or more years. The CCA part I can not judge without more details.

Note that also in the Western world (and Australia) more and more one cannot just post whatever comes to ones mind.

I am pretty sure that Australians can openly vent against the British head of state openly and publicly. They can also vent against Tony Abbot openly and publicly.

Are you, in a round about way, trying to defend these ridiculous laws? 30 years for something written on the internet?

  7. "The Thai junta continues to use arbitrary arrest and secret detention to intimidate and silence people who peacefully criticise military rule,"

Where was Mr Brad Adams when the last lot were using terrorism to silence people permanently who dared to protest peacefully ?.

These people are a political organisation hiding behind the banner of Human Rights. It is disgusting and they should be ashamed of themselves - though if I've learnt anything from this forum, it's that the kind of people who support Pheu-Thai are not the kind of people who have any shame.

By using the banner for themselves, they are preventing decent people using it for real checks on human rights. Last year they refused to hold their conference in Bangkok because it meant asking the Junta for permission - and they did not want to acknowledge their authority. Oh well, maybe those who needed them will get a look in next year.

    Didn't bother to check, eh?

HRW was saying, for example in their 2013 report:

The government of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, which won a landslide victory in July 2011 elections, has not yet addressed Thailand’s many serious human rights problems, including lack of accountability for the 2010 political violence, abuses in southern border provinces, free speech restrictions, and violations of refugee and migrant rights.

cheesy.gif 2010 political violence....yes yes but don't look intot he war against drugs or the 2006 political violence......

I can't post links as some of the reports reference Thai royalty but a simple google search of 'Thaksin Shinawatra human rights watch' brings up a whole host of links of HRW slamming him, his government on the war on drugs and the handling of the southern insurgency.

So that's now you and EnglishJohn looking a bit silly. Do think before you post lads.

It's EnglishJohn. Now that you have posted facts he will dissappear from this topic never to seen again. He doesn't take it well when facts disrupt his twisted world view

  9. Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha referred to the detention of Mr. Karun Hosakul, saying that the latter will be primarily detained for 7 days on charges of stirring unrest in the country which is a normal term of punishment related to this kind of offence.

Normal for this kind of offence?

The guy is deranged and Thailand is in a twilight zone...

It's quite easy : if you don't try to incite people to go out and commit violence and you are quite safe.

He's talking to people like those UDD terrorists and their sympathizers who cheered when the young girl was murdered in Trat.

Do you object that you are not allowed to do this ?. Does it put the kibosh on this communist uprising you keep hinting at ?. We are all still waiting.

I find it highly amusing that you think yourself competent to call someone else deranged.

    Hi John

When the Bangkok bombings happened you were ADAMANT that it was red shirts that committed that atrocity. You very strongly inferred it (along with your dear leader) across several of the threads on the topic here.

It would appear that you WANTED it to be the red shirts so you could use it as moral point scoring in your twisted little world view. You see to me, that makes you just as bad as those ignorant fools that cheered the deaths at big C that day.

So then you have come full circle, you have become what you hate (as is so often the case with pure hate filled individuals) unless of course you apologize for your rampant accusations, which I doubt you will. I will remind you of this every time you bring up the Big C deaths, as it makes you a massive hypocrite.

  10. At least he has the balls to publicly announce and admit his urge and need to be the unopposed dictator. I like his chutzpah.

It's better than corrupt proxy leaders in other countries using NSA, CIA, FBI, IRS, etc. to intimidate individuals while trying to make the masses believe they have the power to vent through opposition.

Instead they try to make race wars to distract from the fact that their country is bankrupt and needs more debt and war to continue functioning.

Disclaimer: If this post offends anyone, I will delete it. No need to ban me for a few days or give me points for stirring things up.

Thank you for speaking the truth about the US and the General.

I was living here when a MEGLOMANIAC named ThakSin bought votes outside of Bangkok and became the PM.

I could see a lot of trouble coming and left in 2005 to wait for his departure before returning.

Waited 10 years and because of the courage or "chutzph" of a guy named Prayut, have finally been able to return and can see that thee is a RENIESANCE happening here.

We need to do everythig we can to encourage this and keep the WRONG people from interfereing.

It appears to me the he is genuine and read in the paper that the King of the country agrees.

Ahh another one of these posts.

Please list the achievements of your dear general. Ending the protests doesn't count because he was complicit in organising them.

See I have lived here a while myself. Everything seems the same to me...

  11. Wouldn't be surprised if it is a scam to get donations.

One thing the new owners of ThaVisa could do is get rid of people like you. Your comment shows an alarming lack of decency which shames us who, by membership of the Forum, are associated with you.

It has happened before on many occasions, what happened to the parents of the grand children, lets hear a little bit more about them, are they dead, did they abandon the kids, are they piss heads in the village, many answers should be answered as well before we start judging other people's responses. like the begers that are rich but still beg,

A desperate family nearly commit suicide together due to their sheer destitution, people have found out about it, awareness spread and now they are getting help....

Some TVF members "Yeah well, we can still find a way to Thai bash anyway! Any excuse to belittle these people we need to take it! Are superiority complex compels us to."

Seriously, what is wrong with you?
