  1. Dear all

I need advice on this. I have a HAPPY pre-paid sim card from Thailand and when I tryto call friends in Thailand while in Malaysia, there is no line in my phone. I was told that a pre-paid sim card has roaming services and you can make call anywhere in the world to Thailand. IS this true or must I return to Thailand to convert my pre-paid to post-paid before I can use roaming services? If this is true, I also heard that the outlet will need a copy of my passport and work permit before I can convert the same. So is this true? Can anyone with expereince of these problems do care to advise me?

    Thanks a million.

  2. Dear all

Thanks for your replies. Assuming that I lwish to conduct a business in Thai, will there be an alternative way for me to get yearlly visa in order for me to stay longer in Thailand. DO I need to establish a company or something. I have no girlfriend in Thailand nor do I wish to seek employment in Thailand but all I want is to establish a new tour business in Thailand and be my own boss.

Can anyone help to advise me more. Appreciated it, thanks

    sincerely

  3. Dear all

I am a Malaysia and I believed that as Malaysia we are granted by Thai government to stay in Thailand for maximum of 90 days during the first 6 months period without visa provided we get our passport stamped every 30 days. My question is how can I stay longer in Thailand once my 90 days are up? I mean I like to stay longer in Thailand maybe like a year or two? What are the requirements and what are the procedures to enable me to stay longer in Thailand?

Another question is whether can I open a bank account in Thailand and what are the conditions and requirements? Can a tourist open a bank acount in Thailand?

Can anyone with experience and knowledge of these issues kindly advise me accordingly? Appreciate any help in this forum ya.

    Thanks and happy new year!!!

  4. Thanks Jive

I think I am not gonna take my chances. I am not concern about the situation In Phuket but Phuket Airport. Whether there will be a problem to get home after I am there as its looks like the stand off in bangkok will take some time to clear. Possibility that PAD might use a broader and bold strategy later to take over all airports in Thailand in order to achieve their objective. I have read about the chaos in U-Tapoa, not gonna take a risk to end up like the poor tourists there.

But thanks anyway, I have checked with AirAsia online and it seems there is no info about the status of the flight tomorrow, probably they have cancelled my flight anyway.

It's frustrating to know that an Airline like Airasia does not have at least a proper notification to their passengers whether via online or otherwise as information is priceless in this kind of situation we are facing in and its frustrating to be unable to gather proper and general facts to make up proper decision on the next course of action in my travel plans. I think an Airline shall have proper and fast notification mechanism to notify every affected passengers in this modern internet access technology and yet we have none.

All I have is info from someone kind enough to reply like JiveTalker in this forum.

What happen to the policy that customer is always right? Is it only work in a non-catastrophy situation.

  5. Hi

I am from Malaysia and will be travelling to Phuket tomorrow and my flight from Kuala Lumpur via AirAsia is scheduled at 12.45 pm and arriving Phuket about 1pm on Monday (1st December 2008). My question is ... Is it safe and wise to travel to Phuket at this point of time? I heard about the chaos in Bangkok and thought that it might not affect other internal airports in Thailand but it turned out today that most international airlines might be cancelling their flights to and from Phuket due to the effects from the Bangkok airports' closure.

As for AirAsia I could not find anything in the web to see whether my flight will be cancelled or postponed? Can anyone in Phuket help to give me the best advice before I start packing for my trip tomorrow?

    Appreciated it.

  6. Hi all,

I have a small project that requires a cameraman for a couple of months... maybe a little longer depending on how it plans out.

Ideally I'm looking for someone that has experience in both filming and editing, so a fresh uni grad might fit the deal as I need to keep costs low.

If you were in my shoes, where would you start looking? Are there any publications/web sites? Clubs? Is it worth contacting a few universities?

    Thanks in advance!

    Dear Seobangkok

I am a Malaysian director who does film making and editing as I specialise in making short and feature films. Now I am planning to work in Phuket for couple of months or maybe longer. I have seen your request looking for someone to edit and video shoot, I think I like to apply for this job. I am coming to phuket this sunday, maybe we can meet to discuss more. At the mean time, you may email me more details of your job description and location here: [email protected]

Looking forward to hearing from you. I also attached my resume and sample short film trailer that I did recently for your consideration and perusal.

    Sincerely
