I don't think it was just the airport and the red shirts...they messed around with the visas, they messed themselves up. I was choked when I had to do all those visa runs...

Perhaps they should look into canceling the "farangs pay more" attitude and maybe the tourism might flourish!

Well, i have left Thailand now, that is what those red shirts did. Won't return till the political issue is resolved.

My biggest concern is savings, if I can find a flight cheaper than Thai Airways to get to the same place, that is what I go for, so if the competitors can do it, why can't they? Fuel prices are not!

That is a good question.... do the banks have a system in place to check all currency proir to dispensing the currency? Or do we have to start carefully looking at all money we get from the bank/atm?

I think, they should install black lights on all the ATM's so anyone can check their notes.

I looked into this visa, pretty pricey! or as they say in Thai "Peng Maak", but it does solve a lot of problems. At least your BF is getting fluent in Thai now.

I was relieved of my camera on the train to Surat Thani two weeks ago and it is not the value of the camera, but the invasion of my privacy. It really suck to have someone take something that does not belong to them. Bad mark on the tourism for Thailand to have this.

A tourist visa from Vientiane is valid for 90 days, not 60.

But will only give a 60 day permission to stay. Extendible for a further 30 days at Immigration.

It is actually good that I did not get the visa that day, since I do have 30 days that was left on my current situation. Well, I am back in BKK and don't have to worry about the visa run till next month. It was a nice visit up there anyhow. Even went to

vang vieng for some tubing fun. Took the local bus 30,000kips and had no hassles with the vip bus dropping you away from town.

Alright, I just went to the embassy yesterday, and this is what happened, I was there late, 10:30am, had to wait to get in the gates, then had to get the form to apply, after filling out the form while in line, of let say two hundred others, really busy day.

I was reading the form, and it does NOT mention double entry visas. It does mention what you apply for, Tourist, Transit and Non-Immigrant. The tourist visa is only valid for 60days max. The non-immigrant was 90days max, but I do not have work permits to apply for that.

Then I got the bad new at 12noon, the visa service was closed, so everyone that was still in line had to leave!

Will update you the next time I try again, since I still have another regular entry to Thailand, I'll wait till my next trip up to find out about this so called double entry visa.

Pm me if anyone thinks they really know the system. Mis-information makes bad reps for everyone concerned.

So I am here in Vientianne, on my second exit from Thailand, should I be applying for the double entry visa or wait for another visa run before application?

I have just visited the link that was listed above, about the visa run, but it only specifies the air option. Is there any ground option as I have time, but not the funds.

I am usually a very careful person to watch my belongings, but one careless moment leaving my canon A640 on the bunk while I went to the toilet in the middle of the night brought me a nice empty camera pouch!

I guess I have to find a new point and shoot...MBK time!
