  1. sorry i wasnt very clear

if the visa is valid for only 3 months from date of issue does that mean if she STILL gets 3 month stay if she arrives 15th july or she would only have 2 months to stay ?

i was checking if the visa starts now or when she arrives ?

i'm assuming you get 3 month stay on arrival and must enter within 3 months of it being issued ?, please confirm

    thanks in advance

  2. hi guys

my mother in law was granted a tourist visa to australia, 3 months

im told it was approved on 15th june and that is the start day of the 3 months ?

i thought you get three months from date of arrival ?

anybody can confirm which one it is or can i call thai australian embassy in bangkok and ask ?

i was the sponsor?...i wrote a letter inviting her and helped with the paper work

  3. hi people

this place helped me out a lot 5 years ago when i wanted to get my thai gf over to OZ, well now we're married with kid (1 more coming)

we would (she would) like her mother to come for visit when baby born next year

do you think it makes any difference if we/she apply in OZ or LOS ? (mother in law in LOS, we are in OZ)

can we apply on her behalf or ?

any tips from veterans much appreciated !

  4. heres the story

my brother has a job lined up and everything already and engaged

"lawyer" said it may take up to 18 months to get an answer

and he may not get it as he was jailed 13 years ago for cultivating cannabis

would something that long ago still prevent him from travelling to another country in the commonwealth ?

i think in australia , ( where we are ), any charge or crim record is/can be quashed after 10 yrs

if so , does he still have to declare it to canadian immigration ?

    :o

  5. yes , ante natal care classes have been offered to me but im working

and i cant translate everything i need to

hospital has provided a translator in daytime hours , but i cant get to daytime classes

so , if there was something like antenatal classes in thai on the web

    it would help a lot

i guess the bits she doesnt know about is about contractions and things

and thanks bambina , my wife was happy when she saw the thai on screen

and read everybit so far i think :o

when i have enough baht stashed

to buy a house and stay permanently , if they are still accepting farangs :o

anyhoo, please advise me on the best angle i should be approaching at

  7. sawat dee kup falang

i did the fiance visa last november and submitted about 140 pages of stuff

i had western union transfers as well as westpac bank to ayudhya bank receipts

my situation was quite difficult for them to understand as

i work in family business and dont draw a wage , havent done in 4 years

so guarantor was a must for me ,

i think the big picture is most important ,

i could not have looked like a real safe bet on paper

its up to you to make them understand the seriousness of relationship

    hope this is encouraging :o

  8. i will try to cut a long story short

i am hopefully be heading back to LOS soon, to be married and etc

hoping to build a house up north. :o

i am wondering what happens if i walk thru airport with a bag of $$$

i was extremely lucky that my grandfather gave me something very valuable

when he passed on , and against all advice im considering selling it

im sure i could sell it for cash easily ,but what happens at the airport ?

will AUS customs want to tax my money & will THAI want a slice ?

how to transfer money international :D

i really would like to avoid losing a percentage of my inheritance to the govt ...

    any tips

    thanks in advance

  9. You do know that AoS means that your friend most likely have to give Centrelink over $3500 to be kept for 2 years and given back later, unless your GF uses the welfare system :o

    hmm ,

well my discretionary assurance of support request form does state

that DIMIA decides which visas need an assurance of support and which fall into either of 2 categories either A Bonded or Unbonded.

and my letter from the embassy in bangkok says ...

"there is no requirement for AOS bonds to be provided in respect of this AOS application."

actually the australian embassy does not deal with AOS paperwork it is handled by Centrelink since June 2004.

They state on their AOS factsheet that...

    An assurer must be

    * An adult

    *An australian citizen

*Earning taxable income above the threshold

*Able to provide a notice of assessment issued by the Australian Taxation Commissioner for each of the last 2 financial years

The reason i have not supplied my last 2 years tax returns is i gave up my office job of 6 years to help out my parents on their farm.

But the most interesting part to me was that the officer responded to me or rather requested the final part of the visa application to be started only 3 weeks after our interview.

I wonder what the good doctor thinks of that :D

  10. hi everybody

i have received word from bangkok that the visa process is completed

and the officer requested my gf to go back to AUS embassy in sathorn

she gave gf back all the papers we submitted and it was only 24 days after interview... :D

i thought that was irregular but im not complaining :D

anyhoo, im trying to round up someone to be my assurer as i had 6 months holiday in bangkok to be with gf and..

now, they want an assurer to show last 2 years of tax returns to prove income

my question being, i have a friend who said he would do it no worries but

since then he has said that his brother told him not to show his tax returns to people as they are in a business together,(i dont know why either?)

anyhow, if he has a job fulltime and works a farm as well

has 2 good incomes , can he just show the 9 to 5 jobs income as in payslips ?

or does he need to show all his financials ?

the other thing was that the document they gave me said that if they have not heard from me in 40 days they can cancel the visa ? :D

thats a bit strange ...dont you think

if im waiting 10 days for my friend to do his tax pack

which will be back in 12 days and its already been 6 , so thats 18

how quick is centrelink going to be able to get the AOS processed ?

so, what do the guru's from australia reckon ?

cheers to all you guys who helped in the past

i appreciate it no end :o

  11. well, my first mistake was just a typo

    i put a 0 instead of a 1

the 60 pages included telephone bills ,itemised

email logs, bank statements,20 odd photos over 6 month period

joint lease agreement, 2 oz citizens gave referrals, i had everything required they just wanted more of it and they actually wanted to see the emails in full not just the logs so had to print out a lot

she did not go into specifics of the assurance of support

but only asked if i was capable to make it happen

gf said they asked about how long was it between when we met til when we slept together , so that shocked me a bit !

we wrote the history letter together, was only one page but a full page and signed it together and wrote how we met , and our plans for the future

hope this gives you an idea but its not pretty

by the way , i was once questioned by police because of my room mates activities and that was a lot more pleasant than the embassy

  12. ok, heres the deal ,

went in to oz embassy to apply for "prospective spouse visa"

now, as soon as we (my gf and i ) were called into the room

the officer immediately asked me who had made the errors on the first page !

the way she spoke , well i have never seen a woman speak like that before

sort of like a police woman but not so friendly

thats before she even said hello, this chick gave me goosebumps

and not good goosebumps either the bad one's :D

anyhoo...the first 30 minutes we answered questions together then she asked me to wait...ok no probs

after about an hour my gf comes out looking very disturbed and tells me the lady wants to see me now...

now, the lady only spoke to me for about 5 minutes then and probably only asked me 3 questions :o

it has been almost a month and the officer has only rang my gf and told her that the 60 odd pages in my application were not enough and i should send more

i managed to round up another 65 pages of various documents to support that our relationship exists.

also, when i spoke with the lady , the confusing part is,

right at the end , she asked me why i wanted to marry in december in oz

i said so we can have a family dinner at xmas

and my gf could easily have work in summer in oz

now, the officer smiled and said this is going to take some time

but when she said that she actually smiled for the first time so that really got me confused

a friend of mine told me that usually the first thing they would do is to issue a letter about a month after interview to tell you that they have all the paperwork and have begun the process

so i am expecting this to happen, but i am wondering what other people may think of this ?

i dont know whether to be confident or stressed or both ?

PS the officer did ask me if i could i provide an assurance of support

i said yes no problem at all

and the officer did ask my gf what would she do if the visa was refused to which she replied , wait for me to return !

i do know that average wait time is 4 or 5 months but whats the quickest someones ever managed one of these visa's ?

    comments gents please

actually going to dentist afterwards to have a tooth pulled

thats probably going to be more pleasant , ?

i guess if i start to sweat it in the interview i can just say im nervous about the place being attacked while i'm there eh ?

ive insisted on buying my gf shoes that arent thongs or sandals

    what a drama...that was !

    thanks again to all contributors

  14. ah, the good doctor..ive been waiting for you

and bronco where you been ?

i need the good oil here
