I started using a MacBook Pro a few months ago after using Windows for twenty + years and now I dread having to use my Windows laptops
I use Gmail but I did try the Apple Mail program but couldn't see any benefit for me in using it so I'am not much help with that
I found some of the information on the links below helpful in understanding how to use OS X compared to Windows
I have been using the LibraOffice for documents and spreadsheets as it can be used on both Windows and OS X
Good luck with your new Mac you find the learning curve worth it in the end

Have a look at "Ghostery" it's an extension on Firefox & Chrome
At the moment I have 837 trackers, cookies etc blocked!
The only think that needs to be left unblocked is an Analytic called "Optimost" as it can sometime cause problems with Bank logins
This is a summary of what it does from the Ghostery site:
Ghostery sees the invisible web - tags, web bugs, pixels and beacons. Ghostery tracks the trackers and gives you a roll-call of the ad networks, behavioral data providers, web publishers, and other companies interested in your activity.
After showing you who's tracking you, Ghostery also gives you a chance to learn more about each company it identifies. How they describe themselves, a link to their privacy policies, and a sampling of pages where we've found them are just a click away.
Ghostery allows you to block scripts from companies that you don't trust, delete local shared objects, and even block images and iframes. Ghostery puts your web privacy back in your hands.

You should use 2 step verification as an added layer of security
The hacker would need your mobile phone as well as your password

<br /><br /><br /><br />Getting a visa in the PI can be a headache. (You cannot apply for the visa in Thailand itself). it might be better to fly first to Kuala Lumpur or such for a short break and apply for a non-O visa for you and your wife there. For teh visa you might need to show the money in a bankaccount, but it doesn't have to be in a bankaccount in Thailand.<br /><br />Once you have the non-O visa for you and your wife, you travel to thailand and open up a bankaccount. After 60 days the money its in there long enough to apply for an extension of stay based on retirement for your self. At the same time you can apply for an extension of stay for your wife as your depenend. For that the marriage certificateis enough.<br />Mario2008
I was in a similar position to the opp a few years ago and was told at Pattaya Immigration that they would give me a One Year Extension of Stay and my wife a one year O-Visa which meant she would have to leave the country every 90 days?
There was no mention of an Extension of Stay for her?

Just call DTAC Customer Service on 1678 and tell them to stop sending you the messages
I did it last week and have not received any since

My wife has the Departure date of 4 Jan 2009 stamped on her Departure Card
Is the date on the Departure card the last day she can stay in the country?
We will be flying to Singapore on 4 Jan 2009

You could get a Taxi, pay between B1000 & B1200 then put the toll on top, be driven to the Airport with a maniac in 45minutes. Your choice I'll take Bells.
I can get a brand new car driven carefully by the owner for only 800 baht plus 60 for tolls. 1000 including tolls on the way back to Pattaya. I've even had to ask some drivers to please speed up!
I pay for 2 if I take the bus, so it's no longer really worth it to take the bus to save only 460 considering I have to coordinate with the bus timetable and then wait at the bus station, and then also wait longer for my flight.
Tropo
Could you give me the contact details of the Taxi's you use?
After booking a Taxi and being assured that our Taxi will be the same as the photo in the window we usually end up with a clapped out bomb with no seatbelts driven by a maniac driver with a death wish!

As the current law is completely unfair why not just return at age 65 and go on the dole for 2 years!
If you dont really need the pension just forget about it,if you do,then organise to take your family back with you,if its possible.A 2 year sentence in australia is not so bad,i can think of worse places. It sounds like you are considering doing a 2 year sentence, samuibeachcomber.
For me, it will be something I'll consider on or about my 63rd birthday (should I live so long). In these difficult financial times, it becomes extremely hard to plan future financial security.
I could always put most of my assets in my wife's and son's names, divorce my wife, and return to the country of my birth.
personally i can sit on the fence for a while yet,who knows maybe in the future the 2 year seasoning may not be around, but yes i guess if needs dictate i'l have to bite the bullet and do time, however it may be better to do the 2 years at 65 and not 63.cheers mate
how do we feel about the inevitability of death

Maybe this song sums it all up?
I close my eyes, only for a moment, and the moment's gone
All my dreams, pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind, all they are is dust in the wind.
Same old song, just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do, crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see
Dust in the wind, all we are is dust in the wind
Don't hang on, nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away, and all your money won't another minute buy.
Dust in the wind, all we are is dust in the wind
Dust in the wind, everything is dust in the wind.
