Australia has the largest deposits of uranium in the world and stands to make a fortune it is going to be like oil with 3rd world countries wanting to build nuclear power plants. Australia still won't build one of thier own because it is not consider safe and they have far more experinced engineers and scientists than Thailand. Why would a 3rd world country think that they could even possibly do it? If a modern developed country does not think it is in the best interest why does Thailand. Thailand is getting way ahead of it's capabilities.

Every single serious case that is brought before a judge the person pleads 'not guilty', even when the evidence clearly proves their guilty - 'not guilty'. Then most of the time they wait to get offered a deal etc.

Does the Thai system not work that way? Is it something about Thai culture that makes people unable to lie to the cops? I really don't get it.

The country is full of young women lining up to marry elderly farang men. These women who marry men 30 or 40 yrs older than them are not marrying for love it is the financial benifits when he drops off the perch. I wish this was true for thailand and every other country around the world, but the fact is, the UK where i am from is still in the recession and industry here is not good at all. This is also bad for the airline industry who have just had to apply a new airport tax to flights, meaning people can not afford any sort of holiday. Travel agents are struggling here, so this must impact on the rest of the globe. Work in england is still lacking, more people out of work than a month ago, again no money, no holiday. In 2008 i went to thailand to see my girlfriend 5 times, this year 2009 i have only been able to afford 2 times, simply pay cuts and fuel prices, cost of living in UK. This is still having an impact. Obviously the UK travllers account for only some percentage going to thailand, but realistically, the recession is still going on globally. The USA are saying they are out of it, but if you look deeply into there financial situation, the only way was up for them, it doenst mean thecitizens in USA have any more pocket money, they dont have much at all. Anyway good luck to Thailand for having belief in themselves, but i do think unfortunately they are blinkered to the realism that the world out side are skint and wont be travelling much.

My girlfriend says thailand is very quiet, the markets are empty and the shops like Big C are empty....7/11's are closing down and bars are cheap to buy due to the lack of customers.....4 of her friends have retuned to the country because theres no one to bar fine them. I just paid for my Chiangmai to Melbourne return flight and the price has gone up 10,000 baht on last months price and I was informed that on the 1st Dec there will be a further 5,000 increase. 15,000 in 2 months is huge more than a 50% hike. Was 27,000 in Oct on Thai airways.

Did you also know if I fly from BKK to Chiangmai at 7.50 a.m it is 2,000 bht more expensive than if I wait until 9.30 a.m.

Pattaya, November 2 [PATTAYA ONE NEWS] : Following a tip-off received by Police, an operation involving three separate Police Divisions took place in the early hours of Monday Morning inside Soi 14 off the Pratamnuk Road at the Encore Bar and Hotel which was thought to be hosting Casino Nights on the second floor of the venue. Police from the Immigration Office, Pattaya Police Station and the National Human Trafficking Crime Suppression Unit from Bangkok were involved in the operation which resulted in the arrest of 8 foreigners and 2 Thai nationals who were suspected of organizing and participating in casino nights. Police stormed the second floor and found a custom-made casino card table and each of the 8 foreigners was in possession of casino chips. Around 120,000 Baht in cash was also found as was boxes of more casino chips and decks of cards. Police took the 5 Finnish, 2 Swedish and 1 Israeli suspected gamblers to the Immigration Office in Jomtien along with the seized items and each of the arrestees was charged with gambling and Khun Pornpansar aged 27 was additionally charged with allowing the Casino to operate in her premise. The case will be heard in court later this week.

Everytime I go to Thailand i buy cigarettes there. Usually LM. Marlboro Lights or Benson & Hedges and have tried other brands. Within a few days I get a terrible cough and hack up loads of flem.

When I return to Australia and smoke local brands here the cough goes away.

Also duty free tobacco and cigarettes bought in King Power Duty Free Bangkok are also terrible, including the brands not sold in local shops in Thailand like Camel and Lucky Strike.

This leads me to believe the Thais are putting Extra poisonous shit in their cigarettes, possibly to make people die quicker or for some other reason.

I thought it might be a mixture of the poor air quality and the cigarettes in Thailand, but when I take Thai cigarettes home I still have the cough.

From now on I will bring Australian cigarettes to Thailand to smoke even though they are 5 times the price.

I think you should learn a little about how cigarettes are made and blends are put together to match a cost before accusing people of putting extra "poisonous" stuff into cigarettes.

Australian cigarettes are a completely different "blend" style to those in Thailand. That is why you aren't used to them.

I am talking about the same brands for example marlboro bought in australia or singapore irritate my lungs and throat much less than those bought in Thailand. Drum tobacco bought in King Power duty free Bangkok is more of an irritant than Drum tobacco bought overseas. I have found the same with B&H and other brands.

Have you tried simply quitting that will solve the problem.
