  1. I looking for the same thing, if you hear anything of where to buy in Thailand could you please let me know,

also if I find somewhere, I will let you know too!

    Many thanks

I spoke to Roku in Uk and they told me they do not have a dealership in Thailand. They also informed me that most channels would not work here unless you have a VPN. I do have one but I'm not sure if the speed will be enough using my VPN to watch the channels without a lot of buffering. You can buy a unit from Tesco in UK for £49. I'm thinking of buying one and getting a pal to bring it out here. Will let you know how I get on with it

Thank you for your reply. Just a quick word a friend of mine came back form the USA with one and it works perfectly. He had to upgrade his 3BB to 9mb. The only problem he says, between 8pm and 9pm the films tend to freeze owing to other people using the Internet on 3BB, not by him. But I have seen the quality and the stations which are great in my opinion. Awaiting your opinion. Thank you.

  2. You do not have to go abroad for a change of the reason for your yearly extension. You can just ask them to extend your permission to stay based on marriage this time.

If you meet the requirements for a retirement visa you will find it easier to get an extension for this then based on marriage. An extension based on marriage requires more work for you and immigration and you will only get 30 days at first, while they check you are realy married. After 30 days you have to come back and get the rest of the year extended.

Thank you, can I do this with just 400,00 baht in the Bank and not 40,000 baht per month ?

  3. Assistance please...

My yearly is up for renewal in June as per other years, no problem with Nong Khai, but reading the above I have a question that is playing on my mind. I've been married for nearly three years now to a Thai woman and also have a daughter with her who is 16 months old. At the moment I have a retirement visa and have to show 800,000 baht in the bank - no problem. But with the marriage visa you only have to show 400,000 baht in the Bank OR 40,000 baht a month. If I went to Loas with the family could the Thai Embassy there change this to a marriage vise for me? It would be so much easier all round if I could do this.....

    Thank you

  4. Many thanks to you all for your replies, it's a great comfort.

Your problem will be that you are supposed to use your local office. Bangkok will probably turn you away. Where do you live? Maybe you can go to Korat.

You need what you mentioned above plus.

A letter from your Embassy as proof of income. Your Wife,s ID Card and house registration. Photos of you and her together in and around the house. Map showing the way to your house.

I or we live in Udon Thani, the income we get every month is coming from Thailand, because we invested in Apartments here, so the 40,000 baht per month is not a pension, would this make a difference?

  5. Okay read all this with great interest, now can someone answer this please:

I have lived in Thailand for almost 3 years this coming June and have a retirement visa in my British Passport. I have been showing my 800,000 baht in the Bank the lasty couple of times and the last time I was there I asked if I could change my retirement visa to a marriage visa, the answer was no. Now that some rules have changed will this still apply? I am married to a Thai Lady and have a young daughter by her, also I could show income of over 40,000 baht per month, what is the best way of changing this so I don't need to show 800,000 baht every year? Thank you.

Thank you all for your replies, I guess they didn't want to did it for me at Nong Khai, also people are telling us that I will have to go out of the country to change to a married visa, surely this is not the case, if I went to BangKok Immigration would they change it for me if I took my yellow book, amarriage certificate wife and child? There seems to be different rules for area offices, is there a web site or email address where I can get this sorted once and for all? Over the last year I've been told it's possible but when I ask Immigration they say no. I need someone with authority!

Many thanks to you all for your replies, it's a great comfort.
