Total confusion.
Some headlines say it was a French being stabbed to death others say it was a Swiss national (who intervened in the argument).
So easy to loose your life at 2 AM by a drunk lowlife.
He might have been a Swiss from the French speaking part of Switzerland. Hence the confusion.

There is also one on the corner of Soi 2, next to the Ploen Chit Centre (Villa Foods) . Backs (more or less) onto the Nana Hotel. Which one was it?
It was the one at Sukhumvit 57.

Who in their right mind would want to lend 3M to their Thai bank - (no interest like the 800K required now) - for a full year? I am sure all the Rockefellers of the world will be queuing up to get this incredible visa. NOT.
Come on Thailand, you can do better than this. If you want to, that is......

This is not the airport tax they're referring to. This is additional to that.
Looking forward to seeing all those improvements!

it used to be 500bht just a few years ago
...which is now incorporated into the taxes etc. in your ticket. You are still paying those 500 bht, but you pay along with the ticket.

"THE
CULTURE MinistryMinistry of Truth issued a ban on the screening of "Arbat" yesterday,"What country besides Saudi or Kuwait has a ministry of culture?
Didn't the great leader just say that Thailand was slap full to the brim with freedom of speech a few days ago?
I think France has a ministry of culture. As is often the case, the controversy will spark interest and a backlash resulting in the ban being overturned and more people seeing the film. (hopefully). The idea that people will lose "faith' in a set of philosify teachings (buddhism) is preposterous.
Lots of countries have a Ministry of Culture. Denmark is one.

So which are the Thai airlines in question?

Why would anyone who has a choice move to Thailand under these circumstances?
Thailand wants to attract investments...?!

Who are these clowns and how on earth are they allowed to simply do as they please in the face of the immigration laws? I thought this government were supposed to be sticklers for the law yet seem to be impotent in the face of a few rogue checkpoints going it alone. What a bloody mess, and one in the eye for the 'Simply follow the law, get the correct visa and you will be fine' brigade.
Jesus wept!
That must be a solo stunt from one boarder division.
Would be nice to know if issued multi entry visas are still valid.
The answer is in the headline of the article.

If you want a plastic bag - pay for it. And not just 5 BHT. Make it 25 BHT. Easy!

Well, it would be good if the cops knew their own law. For years, they have been fining people for not having International licences, even though Cambodia started recognising licences from fellow Asean countries in 1985.
Their law about having headlights off during the day, is completely out of step with other countries.
Pity, because the country has been making huge steps forward in recent years.
Why is that? is it not normal to turn of your light during the day, they do that in every country around the world Why would you want to be different,,,And if they say that you have to have a International Driving Permit (Take note it is not a International Driving Licence) you have to have one as most countries validate the permit for only 3 Months ,even if it says a 12 month permit.
Have to correct you here. By law you have to have your headlights ON whenever driving in most (if not all) Scandinavian countries.

Naughty students. Enjoying themselves on a Saturday night. Shame on you !

I wouldn't trust this for one minute. With a new regime and new rules you could easily find yourself screwed. (Excuse the language).

Why is it, that there are no such problems in Huahin?
They have fixed prices, that seem reasonable.

So you can't have logos in a menu, but it's ok to be seen from miles away?
Because Singha also sells soft driks.

Well. Pattaya attracts a lot of scum. If all the goldiggers were to rush to Koh Phangan, I wouldn't mind ;-)

Sounds like an impossible task to live up to higher standard in a short period. Perhaps Thailand just isn't good enough. Then they should hire people from other countriers that have proven they can.
"in a short period.."?
They were told to fix it back in 2005.
What really worries me is, that ICAO seems to have turned a blind eye for 10 years!!!

Has anyone considered that this could be the fault of the tourists? Maybe the tourists refused to pay the highway toll, because they thought that the taxi driver was cheating them. Not everyone knows that they are supposed to pay the toll themselves, and not the driver. The story about the driver missing a turn, and not wanting to turn back seems a little far fetched.
Ther is no pay toll between Suvarnabhumi and Rama 9, so that could not be the problem.

I think there is an undelying problem here, which is much more worrying. Negative attitude towards foreigners - be it expats or just tourists. We are - increasingly - the dirt they walk on, and agression is lurking lust below the surface. This is of course deeply unfair towards many Thais, and I have many dear Thai friends here, but overall the trend is definetely there. Personally I have had enough. I planned spend the rest of my life here, but that is no longer the plan. Other countries actually welcome retired expats. Give us decent visas and go out of their way to make it happen. I'll keep visiting Thailand, but I'll be damned, if I want to live my life where I am so obviously unwanted and all they want is my money. Visiting other countries in the region I have come to realize, that that famous Thai smile has emigrated too...!
