  1. "THE CULTURE Ministry Ministry of Truth issued a ban on the screening of "Arbat" yesterday,"

What country besides Saudi or Kuwait has a ministry of culture?

Didn't the great leader just say that Thailand was slap full to the brim with freedom of speech a few days ago?

I think France has a ministry of culture. As is often the case, the controversy will spark interest and a backlash resulting in the ban being overturned and more people seeing the film. (hopefully). The idea that people will lose "faith' in a set of philosify teachings (buddhism) is preposterous.

Lots of countries have a Ministry of Culture. Denmark is one.

  2. Who are these clowns and how on earth are they allowed to simply do as they please in the face of the immigration laws? I thought this government were supposed to be sticklers for the law yet seem to be impotent in the face of a few rogue checkpoints going it alone. What a bloody mess, and one in the eye for the 'Simply follow the law, get the correct visa and you will be fine' brigade.

    Jesus wept!

That must be a solo stunt from one boarder division.

Would be nice to know if issued multi entry visas are still valid.

The answer is in the headline of the article.

  3. Well, it would be good if the cops knew their own law. For years, they have been fining people for not having International licences, even though Cambodia started recognising licences from fellow Asean countries in 1985.

Their law about having headlights off during the day, is completely out of step with other countries.

Pity, because the country has been making huge steps forward in recent years.

Why is that? is it not normal to turn of your light during the day, they do that in every country around the world Why would you want to be different,,,And if they say that you have to have a International Driving Permit (Take note it is not a International Driving Licence) you have to have one as most countries validate the permit for only 3 Months ,even if it says a 12 month permit.whistling.gif

Have to correct you here. By law you have to have your headlights ON whenever driving in most (if not all) Scandinavian countries.

  4. Has anyone considered that this could be the fault of the tourists? Maybe the tourists refused to pay the highway toll, because they thought that the taxi driver was cheating them. Not everyone knows that they are supposed to pay the toll themselves, and not the driver. The story about the driver missing a turn, and not wanting to turn back seems a little far fetched.

Ther is no pay toll between Suvarnabhumi and Rama 9, so that could not be the problem.
