  1. Outcome of my lens alignment test using "Hughden" Lensalign tool.

    .......

5 out of 8 lenses needed correction! :)

Interestingly all the errors were attributable to front focusing

My initial tests using my computer screen and downloaded charts was inaccurate

This lensalign tool is far more scientific and believable

Very interesting. I would use that but my camera has no adjustment feature.

  2. "The system could be improved by the addition of aircon taxis.

I just hate arriving at the Royal Cliff in a Baht Bus

    Naka."

Hey naka, why not use the taxi service at Royal Cliff? Better yet, hire a driver your holiday. Simple, really...

  3. So if you're not rich enough to buy the drugs from the US, you should die? Wow naka, I hope I never meet you in person.

Wouldn't capitalism according to Adam Smith allow a free market, not a protected one? And your hypothetical ten billion dollars spent on R&D is eclipsed by the 20 billion spent on marketing - that is the ratio but you probably didn't know that. I won't even get into the tax breaks and corporate welfare state of big pharma in the US...

  4. To all of you "experts and mind readers" who have presumed to know what I think and do, this is tommyv, ... It's much easier to assult people online, isn't it!

Thanks for the reply and setting the record straight. Nice job on treating the staff well, that is commendable. Best of luck...

  5. Until proven i think the tip comments don't belong on this thread as it is starting to sound like you're all accusing Manhattens of doing this.

Maybe it all goes to their staff? :o

Well, I think the silence of tommyv speaks volumes...

  6. tommyv-

Just wondering if the 10% tip actually goes to the staff, or do you keep it? Care to comment on this? It really yanks my crank having a tip added to the bill and then having it go in the owner's pocket!

    Thanks.

Not our business. Most restaurnat now do this and nearly ALL do in our home countries. :o

What do you mean, not our business? If it says 10% service charge it should go to the serving staff, NOT TO THE OWNER OR MANAGER!

I've been to EVERY steakhouse in Manhattan and almost every restaurant listed in Zagat's NY, not one charges a gratuity unless it's a party of five or more. And then it goes directly to the serving staff. You picked the wrong guy to argue this point.

tommyv? Care to comment on where that entire service charge goes???

  8. Drove along the "Cornich" road last night from the lighthouse to the boat yard after the rain, it was mostly flooded, then we turned into second road at the flyover and it also was flooded up to maybe 12 or 18 inches in places all the way through to the Royal Garden. Cars, buses, motorbikes and mobile nooden shops stalled over the place, wet people everywhere pushing their mounts through wast deep water to higher dryer ground.

I don't understand how a road that is 2 to 3 mtrs above the sea and a few mtrs next to it can get flooded. Anybody know the answer?

too many farang in pattaya !

farang shit is more strong than thai shit and now can not go out !!!!!

Dude, you've got a problem. What is it? Your comments (on this and other threads) are stupid and inane. Just go away...

  9. Hi-

Before settling on Rayong, you may want to consider Jomtien (just south of Pattaya) or Hua Hin. Plenty of golf societies for your boyfriend. Acceptable beaches for you. Plenty of decent restaurants and other diversions. About 20 golf courses within 45 minutes of Jomtien, maybe 7 courses close to Hua Hin. Do a little more homework...

  10. actually, i used to play golf almost everyday in pattaya. a lot of my friends still do. there are a lot of courses close by and there are also golf societies here that make golf different than anywhere else in the world. there's always an outing everyday from one bar or another, complete with transportation and tee times with anywhere from 20 to 70 people. you meet new people everyday. you can't go to myrtle beach by yourself and play in an organized competion everyday, you won't meet anyone. you can also play some great courses here for less than $50 whereas in the states the same course would be at least 3x the price. on course antics? c'mon, don't be an idiot. not every thai girl is a bargirl.

  11. in no particular order these are some of my favorites...

    Fuji - Big C

Good Japanese food and good prices.

Mata Hari - Second Road near Soi 9

Continental, somewhat expensive relative to Pattaya

Paradise - Second Road across from Royal Garden

    Continental, Exotic Game.

Simpatico - Second Road across from Soi Pattayaland 1

    Italian, good.

Le Cap Breton - Soi Chaiyaporn up from Soi Diana

French, but they also have regular food. Dumpy atmoshphere, very good food.

Kiss Food & Drink -Second Road across from Mike's Shopping Mall

Decent food, cheap. Best fried sea bass w/garlic&pepper in Pattaya at the location on Soi Diana, just up from the original.

    Pig & Whistle - Soi 7

    Good breakfast and fish&chips.

    Carrefour - Food Court

Decent pizza and pasta at the place in the center.

    McDonald's

Good for a 22 baht sundae.

  12. i'm looking for an mp3 player. anyplace that offers these at a relatively good price? in pattaya i've checked big c, carrefour and some sony shops but they really don't offer much of a selection. any ideas? thanks.
