  1. If the cop wants to arrest the guy who posted the photo and claimed that it could collapse for causing undue alarm then why not send out arrest warrants for all those that post videos etc of bad drivers, violence etc as those surely cause alarm or is it ok to post those because that is what the true nature of Thailand is now and no one should be needlessly panicked

  2. I'm sure those around the table, including Prayut have nothing to fear as the story states that Prayut says that anyone NEWLY RECUITED would have to make the necessary declaration, so one could assume that those currently in their "government" positions could be excused from doing so..... which of course would probably be most welcome by those currently employed in government roles !

  3. Surely your employers know?

As they require you to go to Nigeria, I'd have thought that they would organise the visa for you!

Well generally speaking my employers would know - if I was phyiscally living/working from there base/office in Cape Town, However I rotate out of Thailand choosing to live here and travel to Africa to work, foe example right now i am in Congo and arrive back home to Thailand this weekend.

I've worked there a few times. My company used to give my second passport to a visa agent in UK who obtained the visa then I'd pick it up in London on my way thru to Africa.

Did that for Nigeria, Congo and Equatorial Guinea.

But It may well be worth trying the Nigerian embassy/consulate in BKK though. If you have a letter of invitation or other documents from your company many embassies will process your visa even if you aren't a Thai national.. Last year I got a Russian and Vietnamese business visas like that without any problem.

I have a second passport and I will get that back in my possession when I return to Thailand this weekend, it was in the UK for another visa application, All the neccessary [aper work ie the LOI will be in my possession before I leave the Congo later this week. I certainly plan in at least asking the Nigerian Embassy on my return next week, but some of these African countries just are not very "user freindly" when it comes to the issuance of visas, incidently I will also require a visa for Equatorial Guinea in next few weeks as well - I know that there is no EG embassy in Thailand !!

The mother of all assumptions.... again.

Employers and agency's generally know nothing about local visa availability. They probably know what is required for qualifying paperwork but the OP is wondering if this visa can be acquired in Bangkok, ie. in a THIRD country. He is a Brit, in Thailand wanting a visa for Nigeria. Many countries such as the US and Brazil only permit non-tourist type visas to be issued at their embassy in the country of the applicants nationality.

The last time I worked in the 'Blight of Africa', I was able to acquire a couple of Nigerian Business visas at their Bangkok legation as a UK passport holder on a Thai Non-B visa. That was about 5 years ago and may have changed so better call them up and ask. They may have changed the rules in the interim.

BTW, their visa is/was a one-page sticker type plus they write stuff on the facing page so count on 'losing' 2 pages per visa entry.

thanks for the reply, I certainly plan to at the very least ask the question on my return to Thailand this weekend

  4. As a UK National & Passport holder is it possible to successfully apply for a 3 month Business Visa at the Nigerian Embassy in BKK?

I am required to visit Nigeria for 2/3 weeks in July by my employers.

With all the guys in Thailand in the oil & gas industry surely someone will have tried successfully or otherwise!

Or will it have to done in the UK?
