The price of 209 baht is good. But what does it taste like?

I used to drink Guinness in the UK, many years ago,  and thought it was a good drink, until I went to Dublin and tried it.

It tasted so much better, more flavor, more creamy......just better!

This is due to the better water they have in Ireland.

  2. I have added this to the pinned vets thread but wanted also to highlight it here.

A few weeks ago I found a large ugly tumor growing on my 13 year old dog's gums. I immediately took him to my local vet though suspecting he wouldn't be able to handle it, and glad that I did because through him I found this place which I would otherwise not have known...there aren't too many places in Thailand that can handle something of this sort. The main university hospitals of course but coming in from upcountry it would have meant several separate trips and a wait to get on the surgical schedule; and Thonburi Animal Hospital but mega expensive. This place was perfect - was able to do the pre-op blood work at my local vet and make a direct appointment for the surgery, gettying it all done in a day and they emailed me the biopsy results as well as personal call fro mthe vet.

Eastern Bangkok Veterinary Surgical center AKA Parichart Suwinthawong Animal Hospital

    Kom Klao Soi 11

Minburi or Lat Krabang, not sure which but that area. You take 304 to Kom Klao and then turn left on soi 11.

    tel 02-5576608-9

It is staffed by faculty from Kasetsart and Mahiodol Animal Hospitals/Vet faculty, very well equipped and has some specialist in staff including veterinary oncology, orthopedics etc. Dr. Wannasit there, who operated on my dog, was trained in the UK and speaks English very fluently, and understand Western expectations in terms of being fully informed etc.

As the vets there are on staff at the main government animal hospitals, in the event of anything they cannot do they can arrange for it to be done at Kasetsart e.g. really high tech things like radiation therapy. But I think most surgeries and the like they can do right there.

They do not have a webpage but are on facebook, as the facebook weblink is in Thai it doesn't paste well into here but google and you'll find it.

    Highly recommend it.

These are the Vets on staff:

I have had different experience with this hospital. About 5-6 years ago I treated my dog there and they pre estimated cost of the treatment at 6000 bath but actually when the treatment finished I had to pay about 11000 bath. I have heard a similar story from some of the people in that area. So I move to Suvarnachad Animal Hospital in Ramphanghen Road tel.02 729 5706-7 and I never regretted doing that. Service was excellent and it was half a price from the previous place where I treated the dog.

  3. I think it is wrong to talk only about what the tourist should not do when discussing prevention of crime. The people should talk more about what the police are going to do in order to combat this crime. The tourist, everywhere in the world, should feel free to walk around at any time of the day wearing gold without thinking of being attacked. It is just a minority of criminals who try to make lives of others miserable. We better concentrate on criminals and how to prevent them doing the crime.

  4. It would be lovely to have fast interest here. I work and derive my entire income online.

We have the 8mb service from True. It was good for the first month and now its slower than the old 1mb. Called the engineers out and they showed that with in Thailand it was 8mb with a local true speed test. What it should have said was "8mb internet with Thailand only". Perhaps I should have read the small print. Me bad.

Last week in Hong Kong airport I logged on to the free throughout-the-airport internet service and it was incredible. I did the work that takes me 3 hours in Thailand in no more than 10 minutes.

    Over there I waited 1 – 2 seconds for a web page. Here I wait 30 seconds.

    Bring on the fast internet.

Does anyone know of any better services than "True 8mb"

(which is certainly not True in the sense of the word)

You can try this web page http://www.3bb.co.th/10mb/promotion_en.php
